Comedian Desi Lydic talks landing dream job at "The Daily Show"

- Desi Lydic is a writer, producer and Emmy Award-nominated actress who currently serves as one of the hosts of "The Daily Show." She joins "CBS Mornings" to talk about how she landed her "dream job" and what she's learned from having conversations with people all over the country.

Just before the pandemic hit, I had sent a photo of Desi to the show asking for her to autograph it for me. That request shows as being delivered the day before everything shut down. Months and months passed and once it got to one year I gave up on ever seeing it.
Two years later, only four days before Christmas, I opened my mailbox and *there it was!* I _screamed_ like an anime school girl. LOL
Desi had given me not just an autograph but a wonderful message as well. It is framed and hangs proudly on my wall. It is a personal *treasure* and Desi is my all-time favorite.
Desi, I doubt you will ever see this, but please know you made an old man eternally happy and grateful for all that you do. I wish you a long and happy life!

This is really the golden age of The Daily Show. Each of them are so sharp and talented. Writers are A+. If you think about all that goes into each show, it is amazing they pull all that together in such a short amount of time. Great it is on TH-cam, too. Even old news "reported" by them brings a chuckle.

Desi Lydic is serving some bright and fresh morning show vibes here. I would love to see Desi take the mantle as next host of The Daily Show, or if that doesn't work out, then maybe, hear me out, the first host of 'The Morningly Show.'
Im really turning on to the Daily Show. I think it has taken a giant step up recently. No slight on Trevor Noah, but the return of Jon Stewart and the combination of hosts and writers is really clicking now. Absolutely stimulating and addicting comedy with a sharp political tint. I now know of Desi Lydic and couldn't be more impressed.
I love all the correspondents but Desi is the best one at the desk easily. Other than Jon, but he's just a force of nature.

I used to really like Desi Lydic. But after watching this CBS interview, and the interview she did recently on Colbert, I no longer like her.

Desi has great presence on-camera. Perfect choice, IMO.
She needs to be the next permanent host after Jon Stewart leaves. The other correspondents-hosts are great, too, but she has something extra (maybe it's the way she keeps reacting while the audience is laughing/applauding at what she just said; it could also be her looks to an extent, too, honestly--all of it).

This is the second show to have Desi on, to talk about her landing her dream job. Has she been named as THE anchor moving forward?
I wouldn't assume so. I've seen Jordan on a few programs, albeit mostly for his field pieces at Trump events. Roy made the rounds before he ducked out, probably because he didn't want to get strung along and felt like the producers should choose a host or get off the pot. I personally would be happy watching this rotating news team for as long as the producers feel like doing it, but I can understand why the candidates might want to nudge things along by putting themselves out there.
Incoming comment about how she "only" got the job because she's good-looking (comment is sarcasm folks; hold your pitchforks back).
Crazy that Desi is on the Daily Show with Republican parents. I'd really like to know how she turned around since it's typically the parents that influence the kids lives and who they turn into. What made her seek the light?
