"The Fugitive" TV Intro

  • It was 50 years ago today that "The Fugitive," the American drama series created by Roy Huggins and starring David Janssen, debuted on ABC-TV. That program about a physician accused of his wife's murder, and his subsequent struggle to track down the One-Armed Man he's convinced holds the answers to her slaying, eventually ran for 120 hour-long episodes over four years, becoming one of the most respected small-screen productions in history. The opening above isn't the Season 1 original; it comes, instead, from Season 3 of the series, but does a better job that the original did of laying out this show's premise. Agreed. Used to watch it religiously, every day after school. Some of the finest actors of the era made guest appearances. David Janssen could convey Kimble's emotions with just a look. He was so good. Hard to believe the series is 60 years old, and it's still great to watch.

Just watch the news, killers are bonded out every day, all day long. And they are not innocent doctors. It's real , in your face , I stay in and just glad I can watch these old tv shows, and try not to think about the new reality. Dog the booty Hunter is Bull shit 😂😄😅

An awesome show. Fimall got all 120 episodes on dvd and really enjoying them. A fifth series was almost commissioned but David said no enough is enough. Shame. But the workload and hectic schedule was getting too much for him.

Of course. The subplot that drives the series is that Gerard deep down knows Kimble is innocent but is required by the law to pursue him.

@@STP43FAN1 That's true and as the series went on he sort of believed him.One of the best scenes is when his son played by Kurt Russell says to his dad about Kimble, what if he's right? If he's right??? Then Girard says then I'm wrong, aren't I !!!!!

@@scottmiller6495 Omg, I vaguely remember that episode. Kimble was more or less holding the kid, and during a drive, the kid was slyly dropping one if his baseball cards out the passenger side window every quarter mile or so. And the lieutenant eventually picked up the trail of baseball cards, which had ended when Kimble noticed what the kid was doing and took the cards away.
