Thank you for saying all the cons...I'm a dog groomer and have been since 2008 and people always think it must be easy..It is not...most of the time I am the only one doing st bernards,newfies ect and it kills my bosy.one thing that is true for me is my boss doesnt understand burnout or that she pushes us too hard so hard bosses and micromanagement can be a big deal too...thank you so much for this video and hope you are still enjoying this crazy ass career.

our grooming teachers said to NEVER use sedatives as a pet groomer. That ONLY vets should be allowed to do it, because it's too dangerous and could be lethal for the pet.
I started in January 2009. And I've been to 7 salons one 2 location hotel resort, 1 a vet hospital❤ & hotel. Now I am mobile grooming which I am LOVING ❤️. I worked at 2 locations at once loved both but had to choose between them they both wanted me full time.😮
You gave exactly the info I was looking for in your video! My 5 month old corgi is a sweetheart until it comes to brushing and trimming his nails. Never knew sedated grooming was an option, or that I could ask the vet for something to keep him calm for a grooming session. Don’t want to traumatize my pup or the groomers, and I don’t have the tools/experience to do everything needed at home. Great tips to build a healthy relationship with his future groomer! Thanks!
Don't do it. Sedation is risky. Only if u must, it shouldn't be a regular thing. You have a puppy. They usually get better with time and patience. Find a great groomer in your area
Good luck finding a groomer who accepts one with sedation, which she doesn't approve of in this video. Zero corporate places like Petsmart or Petco will not take your dog if you reveal it is sedated or even during check-in they figure it out.
Thank you so much for this video. I've been thinking about dog grooming as a new career for a while now. I'm currently a preschool teacher in my 60's and thinking of retiring within a year or two. I'm in good health but dont know if I'm too old to consider dog grooming. I plan on applying to Petsmart as a dog bather and work part-time before making any commitment. Is 60 too old to start, or will I be perceived as too old by salons? I have no experience but am highly motivated and mature. Thank you.
I loved working at Petsfart😅 great first introduction to Professional Grooming. Until I slipped and tore my ACL from a dog not liking being on a leash, walking then all of a sudden stop and trying to backout of the lead thrashing like a jerk. Jerked me sideways and hyperextended my leg to the left sounded like a tree branch..... 😢. Always wear good shoes.

It's nice that you have had that experience. That is a rare situation in other grooming salons.

No it’s never too old to start! I’ve been beginning groomers of all ages. Trust me you got this ❤️

I ultimately left because Dr. had me sitting 20% at work and they didn't like that.
Grooming has made me detest dogs. How do I love them again?
Taking a break, going in a vacation, trying another field for a little. Groomer burnout is so tough :(
