This video and Miss u much were released at the same time. All are on the Rhythm Nation. It's the full scope, she touched on everything because the World was changing.
Janet looking incredible here. This was the lead single for the “Janet” album, the long-awaited follow-up to “Rhythm Nation”. A huge hit and another #1 single for Janet. Yes, that was Jennifer Lopez. Great song and reaction! ✌️🥳🎉✨
You MUST watch the video for If, then you need to watch the 1993 VMA medley performance of that’s the way love goes/If - one of the goat VMA performances, it’s electric!
This is Kevyn Aucoin makeup. Kevyn Aucoin was the most famous and in-demand makeup artist alive in the 90's. Kevyn was famous for working with people such as Madonna, Whitney Houston, Cher, Liza Minnelli, Janet Jackson Tina Turner, Gwyneth Paltrow, Lisa Marie Presley, and Courtney Love. He released 2 very successful books. He died in 2002, and I've never seen anyone able to duplicate what he did.
Oh that’s cool! I watched a documentary on him. He was amazingly talented. He had a somewhat troubled life revolving around some health issues. Talented man for sure! ✌🏻🙂✌🏻
@D Taylor Can you tell me which music videos and photo sessions Kevyn worked on for Madonna? I believe you but I want to go back and check it out and appreciate his work more.
Okay, this is one my favorite songs of ALL TIME! Janet in the 90s was amazing, especially this and If Wow. She was on fire in 1993. This is sooo smooth, i love the entire album! Shout out to young Jlo as a background dancer of Janet at the time.
Can you react to the 2nd single from Janet..which was "if" and old skool Janet "Nasty" song from control album....i 😍 Janet Dance videos & live performances
Janet told in interview that she wrote that song the night she didn't sleep and the next day, she wrote the lyrics of this song in one hour while she coming in the studios. This song give the tone of this album has the first single and the opening track of the album. Because after the aggressive sound of ''Rhythm Nation 1814'', she wanted for her next album to have a more lighthing sound and wanted to make a concept album about love and romance. She already aborded this subject (but more conventionnal) before in ''Let's Wait Awhile'' and ''Someday is Tonight'', but here was the whole concept of the whole album. This was her first album in her new record compagny (Virgin Records) after she left her label ''A&M Records'' in 1991 after the released of the radio single only ''State of the world'' (Because no cd single was released for this song). She made six top 10 singles with this album (simply titled ''Janet'') in US charts: 1. ''That's the Way Love Goes'': n.1 for eight weeks (between may and july 1993) 2. ''If'': n.4 in september 1993 3. ''Again'': n.1 for two weeks in december 1993 4. ''Because of Love'': n.10 in march 1994 5. ''Any Time, Any Place'': n.2 in june 1994 6. ''You Want This'': n.8 in september 1994 While her brother started to falling rise because of her scandal abuse, Janet achieved in 1993-1994 her best-selling album with the ''Janet'' era and this was one of the best-selling album of 1993 in US.
This song and vid are tens across the board times two for me. So smooth and sensual. Janet’s soft voice fits so well into this beautiful song. Empress being very observant, as usual, catching JLo in the vid too! Thanks Empress! ✌🏻🙂✌🏻
This was released in spring 1993, i was born in late May 1993, i must have bopped to this as a baby, i feel so connected to this haha Can someone tell me how Jlo still looks the same as 28 years ago?
This was the single where Janet stepped into her own. This sound became her defining sound. I honestly can't think of anyone who has had to navigate a career like Janet: Control and Rhythm Nation are both massive hit albums and also completely playing off of Michael's playbook. Rhythm Nation is probably my fave album of hers. But then Scream happens and Janet becomes the Jackson player as Michael's career fades. Janet the album debuts Janet the artist in her own power, and she plays this sexy low key r&b sound all through the 90s
Fun Fact about this song. Virgin wanted to released ''If'' in the first single of the ''Janet'' album. Janet, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis was not right at all about this decision and all three wanted to released ''That's the Way Love Goes'' as her first single of the album. The three battle with Virgin to convinced to released ''That's the Way Love Goes'' as her first single of the album. Janet won the battle and released ''That's The Way Love Goes'' as her first single. Jimmy Jam say to when the song reaching n.1 in Billboard Hot 100, he know that he was the right decision. This song was the longest n.1 song of Jackson entire family in Billboard Hot 100, spent eight weeks at n.1. Because of this song, when the ''Janet'' album came out, the album sold 350 000 copies in US the first week and spent six consecutive weeks at n.1. ''Janet'' was her best selling album to date worldwide. ''If'' was finally choosing as her second single of the album. Also, this song give the tone of the ''Janet'' album. Because she wanted to slowing the aggressive sound of ''Rhythm Nation 1814'' and the funky/RnB sound of ''Control'', she wanted for ''Janet'' to recording a lighthing album and more smooth production. Also, this album was so varied (including RnB, hip-hop, jazz, House, pop, bossa Nova, rock, opera) for her, this album talk was all about love and romance because she was maried with Rene Elizabeto when she writing and recording the album. But she never forget the ''Rhythm Nation 1814'' era in this album, the song ''New Agenda'' (duet the rapper Chuck D of Public Enemy) was a song about racism and was hugely influenced by the rap and hip-hop. For your question ''Rhythm Nation'', yes you heard ''Rhythm Nation'' and ''Love Will Never Do'', but you also ''Come Back To Me'' and ''Black Cat''. Because yes, ''Come Back to Me'' and ''Black Cat'' was also on the ''Rhythm Nation 1814'' album.
Great reaction! At the time (1993), this sounded like NOTHING she had ever done, it was so sensual and chill, and it became her longest-running #1 hit (8 weeks). I'm clearly in the camp of a lot of your other followers in that the second single from this album, IF, is my all-time favorite Janet song. But I love your reaction to this!

Janet era was def her best. Love this song. Makes me sad Gen Z doesn’t appreciate icons like Prince, Madonna and Mariah but Janet is prob shown the least low
I personally was relieved the Rhythm Nation era was well over... but almost 4 years had passed and we were wondering what she was up to.... Oh no! I remember thinking when the album was announced: Janet has decided to go back to Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis (but without Jellybean) as coproducers. Sigh (big disappointment) But Empress, this song was so loved.. so listened to. Janet was on fire, sounding and looking so sexy and back on track 💓 .. it won Best R&B song 🏆 I also thought the pop elements on this album were cool too. Very clever songs.. one of them: 'Again' won an Oscar nomination for Best Song for the movie Poetic Justice.
This whole album is fire, I was lucky enough to see her in concert when this album dropped. I think IF is my favorite song from it though, but she had some great ones like Agian, Anytime Anyplace, Throb, and You want this.

Your reaction was so fun Empress! I kinda prefer the longer intro version of this video...With Jamet and J-Lo's dialog interaction. Anyway...isn't it sad, that as Iconic as Janet Jackson is she doesn't even have 1 Million TH-cam subscribers. 900 Thousand. What's up with that ?
I think that was Vivica Fox with the straight, honey blonde hair. FYI there's an extended version of this music video with joking around and bantering that's cute and clever.
@@EmpressReacts Hmmm... I don't see no Vivica A. Fox in this video, but she does appear in the "Rhythm Nation" short film. And fun fact: Vivica's very first appearance (before any TV and film work) was in Klymaxx's "Meeting in the Ladies Room" music video.
This was Janet's unadulterated uncensored vibe. She let it out and enjoyed every minute of it.
This video and Miss u much were released at the same time. All are on the Rhythm Nation. It's the full scope, she touched on everything because the World was changing.

Absolute banger from Janet J still love this song to this day.
My song. Yes Janet Queen!
This is the only album or cd I bought on it's release date. Great song. Janet's sexy side was in full bloom.
I remember when this came out on mtv..... soul to soul in england and the whole smooth house rhythm was big
You have great taste in music. This is number one to me. Top of my playlist always.
Wow, thanks!
Rhythm Nation, Janet. The Velvet Rope is one of the best album runs ever.
Yep. Velvet Rope is SO underrated.
Add Control to that list!

Essentially there where two versions in circulation at the same time and Janet ruled.
