I didn't realize some people thought this was real. I thought everybody was aware that the backstage segments were usually shot and cut together before the show. They didn't even cut it that well, the filmed Vince walking around way too long, so you knew something was going to happen. And there was no need for them showing Vince pulling his leg in and then putting it back out again, they could have shot it better so it looked like one motion.
For the most part I liked Sam when he was on the O&A show. He always knew what role to play when he was in studio. He knew when to be the sarcastic guy, straight man, the punching bag, the shit-stirrer and so on. I never liked him as a host though.
As terrible as it was, it's so goddamn funny to me that the Benoit murder-suicide ruined Vince's big bit. Every time I hear "the alleged demise of my character, Mister McMahon" I start belly laughing

Wrestling crowds don't get credit for being as savvy as they are. People who don't watch this stuff think that the crowd really is what Sam is being ironically in this clip, but they're not at all. They know it's bullshit, but they still let themselves enjoy it.
