Not sure if I’m more jealous that you’re in Montana or that your wife is willing to spend the day with you on the stream?? Great video! That place is a gem!
Not disagreeing at all, but euro rods are weird. They are hard to gauge. Since they rate them off of the tip, it is hard to say what one manufacturer's 2 weight will be in the backbone. The 2# ideal nymph for example feels like a 3.
Thank you, Scott! It is an awesome state and you do need to get out. It is a special place. Thanks for the comment and I appreciate you watching. Hope all is well!
Great content as always Cory! Thank you for sharing! Badger sculpin works all year round-love that streamer- Thank you for sharing the recipe for it . Tight lines!
Vinny! It was special, indeed! Just a beautiful place with some beautiful fish and my beautiful wife...Perfect! Hope all is well, my friend, and thanks for watching!
Hi Kelly! Nice to see you tagging along with Cory. What a gorgeous setting in Montana. Does not get much better than that! Hope all is well. Amy says hi too!
Terrific stuff. You can hear the joy in your voice! Great to see you enjoying some great fishing and an epic adventure! We hear your cutthroat trout are aggressive…oh WoW!!!
Thanks, Anthony! I felt like a kid out there. What a blast! Still buzzing from it. The Cutthroat are super aggressive- it makes it exciting when sight-fishing them! Appreciate you watching. Tight lines!
Thank you, Tony! I did feel like a kid out there. Couldn't wait to peak around each bend! Thanks so much, my friend and I appreciate you watching. Hope you have been in the cold Farmington water!
@@OldDominionTroutBum yeah Corey I was up there Saturday picked off a few but a little bit of a slow bite. The action picks up late afternoon and into night, they’ve been getting some real quality trout! Stay well!
Good stuff as always Cori ....also nice to see you fishing different water ..love the backhand cast ...been practicing that cast then are ..awesome cuties too.
Thank you, Bubba! Always fun to fish different water. Keep up with the practice. You will only get better. I love them cutties too. Appreciate you watching!
Epic day of fishing!! Congrats Cory ❤🎉. I started jigging streamers on a micro leader a year ago based on your videos and it has become one of my favorite tactics. So versatile and deadly, as you clearly demonstrate here!
Your technique is amazingly good. Your videos have helped so much. Been fly fishing 3-5 days a week since I started 6 months ago. Central Oregon is home but would love to get up to Montana sometime.
Heaven on earth Cory...lovely to be there with you, Kelly.and some awesome cutties..such a special place on our planet ..well done, glad you had such an enjoyable ball out West....your great video really showed what a finessed micro leader / appropriate rod setup can handle too....very versatile...shame the creek was so crowded 🤣tight lines amigo
Thank you, TK! Yes…Heaven on earth! Glad you came along with us! It really is a special place. I felt like a kid out there. Thank you for watching, my friend. And tight lines to you, as well!
Best videos ever. Fly tying, instructions on casting, Euro fishing, my favorite channel. Wife and I are heading to Ennis Mt first week of September. Bringing 9ft 5wt rod along with my 10ft 2wt Diamond Back Euro rod. Plan on fishing the Madison, Ruby river, and Odell Spring creek and any other spring creeks I can find. It's been about 20 years since I've been to Mt. Any suggestions as to any places to wade fish would be helpful. Wife and I also plan on visiting Yellowstone. You're the best Cory, maybe see you on Penns some day. I'm a PA resident. Thanks again. Walt
Super nice of you to say, Walt! Love Ennis! Was just there for 10 days. I fished the Madison a ton and did hit the Ruby, as well. Stick with the upper Madison around Raynolds Bridge and the 3 Dollar Bridge and you will never run out of places to fish. Between the lakes is pretty amazing, as well. If you are in Yellowstone, check out the Lamar. The road parallels it and there are tons of beautiful areas that you can share with the Bison. Thanks so much for watching and hope to see you out on Penns, as well. Tight lines!
Hi Cory - great day on the creek and a wonderful video about changing things up when it’s slow when fishing. Let me know the next time you’re in Montana. Hope to hit the stream or river with you.
Hey Philip. It was a great day. The funny thing is that it never got slow...It was incredible action the whole time! MT is a special place and I'll be back for sure! Thanks for watching.
I’d be giddy too catching all those cutthroat. Glad you had an awesome day and trip. Weird seeing you doing the stealth approach lol. Awesome video as always. Tight lines sir!
Super fun video Cory, your vids are getting to be as good as your fishing! Maybe since you haver such a patient wife you could have her film you a bit... it'd be nice to see your casts from a different angle. Cheers!
Thank you, JJ! My wife, Kelly, loves photography (and fly-fishing!) and wants to do that for me. That will come in the future. Thanks so much for watching!
Hey Cory! You were having way too much fun haha. It looked like an awesome time and you even had your personal photographer. That 10/2 out of the plethora of euro rods I have is probably my favorite. I’ve never been to Montana but you got me thinking 😎🎣. Thanks for sharing this with us.
Boy was I ever, Dale! Felt like a kid out there. Just so exciting! Love sharing it with my personal photographer, Kelly! You are right, something about that 10/2 feels so right. You HAVE to get to MT. The fishing is amazing and the beauty is spectacular. Tight lines, my friend!
Great video and beautiful fish. Nothing beats a summer day spent on a montana creek. That stream has quality fish and some big grayling if you can find them. See any grizzly? That stream can be grizzly central certain times of the year.
Appreciate it, Michael! You are right...Can't beat it! I saw some of those bigger grayling. Caught some decent ones there (12 inches or so). Fun and beautiful fish that love to hit dries. Didn't see any Grizzlies. If we did, my wife would have never been hanging out down there with me!
Cory, so when you are switching from adjustable dry-dropper to the jig streamer, are you just simply clipping both flies off and tying the streamer to 5x on the point, then switching back and forth as needed?
Hi Cory. I have the Thomas and Thomas and I am going to buy the Galvan GEN reel. I have seen that on the 10.9 line 2 rod you have sometimes used the 3.25 model and other times the 3.5. Please, which model do you think balances the rod best?
I will fish Montana someday, maybe not as successful as you but I will be there fishing! My wife may be on the bank as well, she has done that in PA with me....
Thanks, Jesse! We did see a bunch of wildlife. Lost count of the antelope. Elk, and deer, Bald Eagles, Golden Eagles. You would see a water snake occasionally. And we did see 4 bears that week, although it was in a different area.
Don’t know how to send private message on here but curious if that is same location I have been too. I am guide as well in NW Montana. You around Dillon/Twin Bridges area?
That’s awesome Cory! Love to see your videos as always. I learn so much by watching and it’s good to see you employing more of the euro jig streamers. Question, when you switched to the figure of eight for your droppers, are you still using a tippet ring on the end of your Pezon leader? Could you possibly walk us through that because I have lost a lot of fish recently on the Madison from fish breaking my triple surgeon knot off my dropper. Thanks Cory!
Thank you, Gabriel! Appreciate it. I was using an adjustable dry-dropper. The stopper knot was formed by the figure 8 knot. My tippet came off a tippet ring that was connected to my Pezon leader. Hope this helps. I'll be coming out with a Madison River video soon. I was using a dropper there off a figure 8. The figure 8 is stronger than the triple surgeons, and I highly recommend it, especially for the Madison's big fish and big current.
Not sure if I’m more jealous that you’re in Montana or that your wife is willing to spend the day with you on the stream?? Great video! That place is a gem!
Haha! I am a lucky guy that I got both, Jeff! MT is a special place. And you are right, what a gem it is! Appreciate you watching, my friend!
This is the best video I have seen showing the effectiveness and versatility of a 2 wt rod. Thank you for posting!
Glad you enjoyed it! Way more versatile than people realize. Appreciate you watching and tight lines to you!

@chrishenslick5482 very true. The DB is definitely closer to a 3wt. It is a great stick.
