It gets confusing right at the end when you describe a forward sweep as "reverse" (paddle is going in reverse) and a reverse sweep as "forward" (paddle is going forward). Beginner students easily get confused about this.
The forward stroke is done by driving the planted paddle back (actually more accurately, one pulls the kayak past the planted paddle). So nothing confusing about the forward sweep; it's just a large arcing forward stroke improved by getting the kayak a bit on edge.
I had never seen this turn demonstrated and explained this well before.
