Thank you for mentioning the clutch exhaust vent. Not one video mentions this on the older Polaris. I have been trying to see if a pipe needs to be there because mine was missing (used ATV)....now I know it is. Thank you for your video!!
Glad it was of help. So that vent would not be an issue unless you get into deeper water. Also without the vent there is a likelyhood debris will get in there. It was tricky replacing g that vent if I recall. I trimmed it slightly
@@ontariooutdoorsman Yes I have been in high muddy water not knowing it was that low. When I took the clutch cover off there was alot debris inside. Recently replaced the starter so I took off the cover plate and discovered it. Before I rigged something up with PVC I discovered your video so I ordered the OEM part which is much better in height 🤗
Great video. I'm going to be starting this project in about an hour and I think {hope!} that your video will be helpful! I'll let you know how it ends up.
The backer plate on the clutches is in the way. It's a long bolt that wont thread out all the way without room. The starter also has to pull out towards the backer plate to remove. You can leave it in the ear one ce backer plate is flexed back but any forward pressure in it puts it back in the engine hole

Why couldnt you leave the bolt in the ear of the starter and pull it that way?
