No other analogue can touch a the expressive beauty of a CS-80 which is remarkable when one considers how old it is and how many polyphonic instruments have been designed, built and released, worldwide from other manufacturers. Even from Yamaha themselves.
I’m eagerly waiting for Rob Rosen to complete the work on my CS80 which you can see on TH-cam as GalaxiesMerge CS80. A great instrument. Once I get it back, I will update a new video of it.
@@reecedeyoung6595 Black Corp's DD comes damn close. I've only played on a CS 80 once, and subsequently got a DD. WIsh it had the ring mod, but in itself is electrifying and hair raising...let's call it a CS 79!
Lovely moments in sound captured here. What a wonderful sounding instrument. I came here to verify my interest in Black Corporation’s ‘Deckard’s Dream’ and I’m definitely buying one now.
I purchased the cs6x for $500 and it came with 2 plug in cards (PLG 150AN and PLG 150 PF) I wish I got the DX and XG cards instead. To acquire them is way too much now. It would be cheaper to buy software synths.
For those unable to shell out 100k, check out a free VST called "Arminator II", a CS-80 digital clone. I like it better than Arturia's, and other company's paid versions.
Man that's so crazy just before the pandemic started maybe just 2 and a half years ago you could buy a CS80 for 20K - 30K and you could get a Jupiter 8 for 14K - 18k. It's Insane how everyone jumped the prices for vintage synths , I really doubt they're even selling for 100K , unless people are artificially boosting In some scam.
Reissuing a CS-80 would be a massive undertaking. There are hundreds of VCA's and while surely much of it could be taken over by an MCU, it would lose a lot of the soul that makes it what it is!
@@RosenSound Hmm, that's a good point. But the following it has and the money they'd make, I am confident it would sell and make profit. Nevertheless, nice video, as I forgot to put!
It's approximated with digital software plugins though. It in software tries mimick analog electronics. The commodore c64 sid chip from 1982 with 3 voices only and analog electronics even nowadays cannot be fully emulated though. So if a simple 3 voice analog chip is so difficult to emulate it's logical most musicians started using purely digital sound instruments. I am of the synthesizer era and cannot make trance music e.g. i find trance to repetitive it's mostly short melody and i only like very long melody making. And i can't do rythm.
this is gorgeous! I will say though, it's a shame that you're using two of the best *stereo* effect pedals on the market, yet uploading the demo in mono :( Either way, it can't not sound dreamy, it could just get a massive bump in quality if it were stereo. ty
I was happy to find a demo video without those things, this really showcases the beauty of the oscillators, instead of the jangle of all those complex modulation options. To each their own! 😛

The holy grail of synthesizers the magnificent Yamaha CS-80 & just love the sound from the CS-80! 🎵🎵🎵🙂
You could sell this video of the CS80 on reverb to someone for $20k.
Such great playing! Beautiful

@@reecedeyoung6595 not anymore 😭 would have been cool if it came with the synth at the time of my purchase. If it pops up I’ll def be getting it.
Native Instruments "Massive"
Sounds more futuristic than anything today
dad: why are you crying so damn loud

¿Los efectos de reverberación y eco son añadidos desde fuera o los traía de fábrica el CS80?, gracias.

Yamaha is Yamaha
It is totally mind-boggling as to why this synthesizer isn't being re-issued.

Well, Black Corporation thought so too and took it upon themselves.
@@RosenSound That and financial issues
Hope Behringer does justice with their clone
Rare with an owner of a CS-80 who could actually play.
Considering the amount yamaha produced, it appears on TH-cam that everyone owns one. 😂
You have not seen all of them :)

Totally fair point. We’ll keep that in mind for the future. This is far from the only CS-80 demo we’ll be posting!
no stabs no bass no sci fi no sequences no ring mod... another boring cs 80 vid.. I have one and it does many sounds.. yet all you see is this
Looking forward to your demo!
