I have always wanted to paint. I even have an art room full of art supplies but I stop myself because I am so critical of myself. I almost didn't do this painting today but I did it anyway and I just loved it!! You are so laid back and the atmosphere is "everything is okay and don't sweat it." Thank you so much.
This is one of the videos I put on to just see someone paint. But a few minutes in I couldnt help myself grabbing my brushes and painting along. It's so easy and so much fun!
FWIW - I would LOVE to see more videos like this but even looser if possible. I love to discover flowers in blobs of paint but I struggle with the next step(s): finishing touches, details, adding values, etc. to end up with something aesthetically pleasing. I have hundreds of first layer paintings because I have no idea how to finish them. I have no artistic background or an ability to imagine something and then create it. I am very visual and have to see every detail but then I get bogged down in detail. I hope that makes sense and it's something you'd be interested in doing as well. Thank you. Take care.
This was my first-ever watercolour painting three years ago. All I had at the time was Cotmans, an oil paintbrush and sketch paper, but I followed your tutorial and voila! I produced a passable picture! So pleased I’ve been painting ever since - with better supplies over time😀 - so thanks so much for making thevformidable approachable, Ellen!
Thank you so much for this. I have not successfully ever made a drawing or a painting. I started an explore your creativity class and next week we are paper weaving. The teacher suggested doing a water color to cut up for the weave. So I thought, what can I loose, I have to cut it up. I found you, and for the first time ever did this watercolor. SO FUN! and no, can't possibly cut it up now. Your instruction was fantastic.
Thank you for your tutorial. I'm a beginner and I appreciate you saying what brush numbers that you're using. I'm trying out brushes and doing drills to get the feel and see how things go with each of them. I love this bouquet that you made, it looks simple but I'm sure when I go to paint it I may find it very challenging. As they say that the master makes the craft look easy. 😊 💙
Thanks so much Ellen. I love your manner. We need calm wherever we can get it these days. I can't believe how can you take a "blob" and make it into a beautiful flower.
This was wonderful. Thank you. My problem in trying to create loose, is I would’ve painted the flowers and made them all loose. You didn’t do that. Thank you for clarifying. I’m going to try a little later. I love your channel and your paintings.
You are wonderful! Fun, funny, dryly cheerful, and a fantastic teacher. You talk about all options-smaller brushes, less expensive paint, different colors , etc. Everyone feels welcome no matter and that’s encouraging. You add joy to many a day in these tough times. 💫 The story you told recently about asking someone if they had teenagers when they criticized the electronic games made me laugh out loud. You’re practical and real. In short, you’re a gem! ❣️❣️❣️
It is so nice to see your face and really get to know who you are. Thank you for taking time to do your videos everyday. It helps all of us move through this difficult time. I always feel inspire to paint after watching you paint. Stay safe.
This is beautiful! I love to watch you paint! I’m a beginner but you give me confidence! Thanks for telling what size brush you use each time. Really helps! ❤️
This is the best tutorial on watercolors. My problem was I used too much water so it looked like I spilled a glass of water on it ! I’m doing this project today. Thank you for sharing. Nadine
Loved this.. I am new to water colour, I love the free nature of this technique and Ellen really gets you to relax and settle into the free motion and not worrying about anything being perfect! thank you Ellen!
Yes! It brightened my day. I watched on my TV and enjoyed the instruction so much. I will watch again and paint along. You made me think I can do it! Be well. Thanks for sharing. 😊
This looks like so much fun! Can’t wait to try this painting. I’m trying to learn to be more loose and bold with my colours. And add more contrast. Thanks again Ellen!
I love ❤️ your lessons! You break everything into do-able steps and after each lesson I have learned something AND have finished a painting instead of just practicing individual flowers. I have a very hard time painting loose and painting rows of different flowers makes it harder. Thank you for getting me out of my rut and making painting fun again. 🌸🌸🌸
Great instructions, thanks. I’m just starting out on my watercolour journey and learning quite a lot. I do enjoy your TH-cam site. Looking forward for more, thanks again…🇬🇧
I love this and although I'm new to watercolor and not good at it, I'm going to give this a try. Looks like fun and I like the loose style. Thanks for the tutorial.
Wow great - Thanks so much for sharing. I like the „random“ seeming way you approach this. It makes it look soooo easy (which it is not... ). I just recently found your channel and will follow your tutorials. Thanks again.
Beautiful! And congratulations! You know you’re a hit on TH-cam when there are 3 ad’s during your video. Happy for you! You deserve to make it big! Love everything you post!
Happy belated birthday Ellen ! Your flowing, relaxing and detailed demonstrations instill some confidence. Im ready to try this one and the blue one, too! Can you show how to do a Blue Cone Thistle? Thank you.
Your vids make my day right now! Thanks for sharing your talent & so much of your time with us... 🌷💜✨ If you’re clients complain - let us know - we can send them ‘thank you’ notes that ‘they shared you’ with us during this really trying & stressful time. 👍🏻 😉
I have painted a few paintings and received some complements on them. (Thanks to you and your videos!) So now I would like to invest in some good brushes like the Princeton Neptune #12 however I would like your opinion whether to get synthetic squirrel or Kolinsky Sable and long or short handle? There is so much to learn. I already purchased my Arches paper and a few colors of Daniel Smith paints! My Aunt is a painter and she said always invest in a good brush! Look forward to a response from you.
Thank you again Ellen!! I loved this as I am still learning!! I passed the link to your channel along to a mom of two who is new to watercolor!! Hope you reach 100,000! Stay safe! Yes this did brighten my day!!
Hello Ellen! You really brighten up my days! I like you doing crazy! Your work is just what I need to make me feel happy! And indeed, not to hard to do. I ’ ve been following you for a long time long before covid! You helped me go thrue these crazy times! Love, Marleen from Belgium,

I love your tutorials! Your commentaries are so helpful and fun-blops and loose
I suffer badly from anxiety and depression. I am a beginner in watercolor paintings. I did this one today! So fun.
yay!
That’s exactly what painting is for! To soothe the soul🧡
This is one of the videos I put on to just see someone paint. But a few minutes in I couldnt help myself grabbing my brushes and painting along. It's so easy and so much fun!
This really helped me understand the looseness of flowers that you can give the impression and not I’m everything so tight. Thank you so much.
thank you! im getting back to watercolors. this was a fun practice.
I had so much fun making these wildflowers paintings. I made 6 of them today! I just could not stop. Thank you for your wonderful tutorial.
Excited to see you at noon Eastern time. Lunch, after big walk in 10°, & art! The color you picked exactly right.
You're the first artists tutorials I've watched and grasped it and learned from. Thank you!

Thank you for your wildflower video. It was fun to create the flowers and add the details.
Astounding how even the finishing black to the poppy’s totally brings the whole thing to life. Thanks for an easy tutorial to follow…..
Hopefully………😳
I am a neophyte. Painted 4 of these (each a little different). An old friend wanted to buy one and my daughter framed 2 so I think superb video.
Video full of life and spring.
Thank you
Love how easy you make it sound! Makes me feel I can do it too, even at 85!!!😍
I really appreciate being able to listen to your commentary as you paint. Thanks!

A very good tutorial. Very useful for painters who need some inspiration.
I did this today and it was no where near as nice as yours but yet there was something lovely about it and I love it!
Thanks so much Ellen. I love your manner. We need calm wherever we can get it these days. I can't believe how can you take a "blob" and make it into a beautiful flower.
