    I will be going to the Prep School at USAFA THIS July! Granted it wasn't what I wanted first pick but was THRILLED to hear about the fact that they still wanted me after the fact I didn't get a nomination to go to the academy I thought my dream was dead in the water when the other academies didn't accept me due to late application. And I hear lots of talk about "as long as you pass the prep school, you're basically guaranteed a spot in the academy." So I'll be giving it my all and doing my best to get there!

      It is too late to tell you this, but don't tell people that the Academy wasn't your first pick.

    Thank you so much, I am currently in high school joining the jrotc next year hoping to get my qualifications up for the prep academy and then on-forth to the air force academy.

    I went through the prep school in 1982, so I am like your grandpa. Prior enlisteds and blue-chip athletes can do very well at the prep school. But you really have to want to be there. It is not a place for the casual person.

    If I do really well in school like getting A's and B's alongside a good GPA but happen to not take the CFA and do too well on my ACT and SAT, will I still have a chance of getting into the preparatory school?

    • @vancecarew663
      @vancecarew663 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The application to the Prep School is through USAFA meaning; you have to take the CFA in order to be even considered for the Prep School. The CFA is apart of the application process to USAFA, and if you do not complete the application you won't even be considered for the Academy or the Prep School, regardless of how well you will do you need to take it.

    Do you automatically get into the Academy if you end up at the prep school? Or do you have to go through the entire process again just a year later

    • @jacquescoury2979

      It’s one of those “yes, but no” type of things. They formally say that it is not guaranteed. It’s around an 80% chance you go to USAFA. However, if you do what you are supposed to do and get through it you’re basically in.

      No, going to the prep school is not going to help you. If you are not working out at an easy life college, imagine what going to a military college is going to do to you?

      @@genjidoeseverything9461 the point of the prep school is to make you a stronger candidate for admission to the United States Air Force Academy. From there to go on to a career as an Air Force officer and pilot. If he is a weak student, he will just be wasting his spot at the prep school.
      When he fails, he still has to fulfill a four year obligation to the Air Force.

    Would I still withstand a chance if my freshman and sophmore years weren't the best, but I've shown exponential growth in my junior and senior years? I'm deathly afraid that my idiotic choices in my first two years will screw me over. I'm pushing to absolutely bomb the SAT/ACT and take dual enrollment classes to prove I can handle the pressure. (My lame performance the first two years were due to family issues and my mental health being bombed because of it, of course I don't want to admit that)

    • @cow5183
      @cow5183 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m in your exact situation, and for the same reasons. I really didn’t do good at all my first 2 years but now I’m really taking charge and am a straight A+ student so far in my junior year and I plan to do very well on the ACT and SAT and am taking advanced classes as well. I really have no clue on how that will affect our chances but I really hope it’s not a huge deterrent. Best of luck, and god bless.

      bang bang niner gang do really good at whatever job you end up doing. Having good relationships with the “higher ups” and command related to your occupation is a big help for recommendations. And you can apply directly to the Prep School through the LEAD program as you saw, and they typically don’t even fill all the spots-so just do well at whatever you’re job is!

    • @jacquescoury2979
      @jacquescoury2979  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Smothers I’m going to be completely transparent in saying that I’m not sure. USAFA really does not have a waitlist, let alone one for the prep school. So I’m not 100% sure of the process for the Navy, but what I CAN tell you is this-As you are well aware, we are in unprecedented times. Everyone is figuring this out together. The majority of USAFA prep offers were usually given in April in past years, some of them this year are even being pushed so far back as May. Same will probably apply across all academies. And because of everything that’s going on with COVID19, it’s very possible people decline due to safety concerns, and you’ll get the spot. Best of luck, and if you don’t get in this year, try next year! Don’t give up.

    • @jacquescoury2979
      @jacquescoury2979  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Smothers yep, it’s a waiting game. Like I said, don’t give up. If it’s something you really want to do, keep reapplying. 30% of applicants are re applicants across the service academies. Many are prior enlisted too. Age basically doesn’t matter, if you’re “supposed to be a” sophomore or whatever since you have to always do 4 years. Don’t give up. I’m going to be making a lot more videos soon, subscribing might help you out a lot, lol.

    Is it true that after you do four years you owe them 5 years of active duty to the Air Force?

    • @jacquescoury2979
      @jacquescoury2979  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      FloatN Boyz whether you commission whether it’s ROTC or the Academy you owe them at least 4 years. Many go on to be pilots where the contract is 10 years, so it’s negligible

    • @floatnboyz9181
      @floatnboyz9181 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jacques Coury so you serve them 9 years of your life pretty much

    • @jacquescoury2979
      @jacquescoury2979  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      FloatN Boyz what? If your referring to a normal contract of 4 years you’re serving 4 years, academy/ROTC doesn’t count. And most people go much longer than that, because it’s such a strenuous and academically challenging process that they wouldn’t want to do all of that just to serve for 4 years and get out.
