    Hello, just found this. My wife and I did the boiling lake hike in Dominica years ago, and it looks similar in your video. It was a rigorous 3-hour in and 3-hour out hike and I'm glad we were both experienced hikers. We absolutely hired a guide! When you get closer to the boiling lake there are concerns about exactly where the boiling water streams are running, so it's much safer to have a guide and he was outstanding! Our guide hiked with a tiny day pack and tall rubber boots, and a very large "cutlass" (machete), that he needed as the jungle continues to grow along the path. He was built like a running backs with legs like trees, as the terrain is extremely mountainous and he has done this many times before.
    There are several areas of the path that are on a knife edge of steep terrain, so if you're afraid of heights prepare.
    By far one of the most memorable hikes that we have ever had in our travels. Highly recommended, but be in good shape, use good hiking boots, and take lots of water.
    Thanks for the memories!

    Was there any parts of the hike that were close to cliffs? I have a fear of heights and want to prepare for how much I might need to prepare for being close to steep edges.
    Thanks for the video!

      I would have to say yes. Nothing too crazy but probably a little scary in a few spots

    Don't know if you still check comments on this, but were there a lot of sections where there was a need of rope to help with ascent/descent? I'm very proficient with long hikes but don't know how many straight "climbing" sections I could do?

      I couldn't for sure tell you as I don't know your level. The one in the video is the only one out there. I think it's pretty straightforward and the rope simply helps. You can do it 🙂

    During the hike did you encounter a dangerous path to hike?

    • @LauraLeanne
      @LauraLeanne  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry, I don't quite know what you mean by that. Was the path dangerous? Not at all :)
