Back in May [of 2010 for future readers] I rode a Mercedes-Benx intercity bus with my mom as part of a Princess Cruise tour [they do sponsor bus trips] in Mazatlan, Mexico, and it was a "roadranger" type manual, problay 12 gears, no semi- or full-auto. {Mexico has a LONG-standing manual tradition. Ole!].
I have been driving Actros 2640,2644 and later non telligent gear version rather indicator switching gear.Unlike Volvo 440,it takes time to fill up the air! But comfortable suspension! 4:43
This gearbox has 3 levels of automation. FULL auto, does EVERYTHING itself. SEMI auto, I press the gearlever when I want to change, The truck "decides" what gear to go to. MANUAL, I select what gear when, can press twice for two gears at a time. The changes happen within a second or 2 after I move the gearlever, I don't take the foot off the throttle( upsifts) at all, it does that for you
I've only driven one iveco, and It wasn't a bad truck, It was showing fault codes but performed well. One thing is NEVER leave it parked in gear, It needs air pressure to shift, no air no shift, cannot start in gear no start either unless you pump up air tanks from some other source
@TheFuturetrucker if you dont put it in neutral self it does after 1 minute, when you stop it goes to the best gear to frive again. you can put it in neutral with one buttton on the stick, very esay :) you must manually change to reverse or forward again :)
The green light is a guide for the driver,It is where the tacho needle SHOULD be for optimum fuel economy, taking into consideration of throttle position & roadspeed. It only comes on if the truck thinks the driver should be in another gear
@shaned8845 yes it can grind, the gearbox itself is a manual gearbox. the auto is computers who controls the clutch and engine in gearshift, and sometimes it happens. it happened once while i was driving the volvo with i-shift transmission :)
I'm not sure what you are asking. If you mean shifting up/down, that stubbie knob at the end of the left arm rest is the gearlever, you see that the 5 min mark, at the 7 min mark I have selected full Auto(truck does all the gearshifting it's self)
@martyPE1987 2100nm @1080 rpm, but its peak power is at 1800rpm, torque is what gets it up the hills, power is what makes it accelerate. When accelerating, you work towards peak power, when in the hills you work towards peak torque. What I've show here is not my normal driving habits, just what can be done
@johndeere4240 there is no clutch pedal at all, the clutch working for it self. the first fase on the throttle adjust the clutch to a start and after you drive like normal, nice stuff :)
I like the Benz way of thinking, you get three different levels of control, The Volvo has only two. The Volvo is a much quicker shift and for me personnally I would prefer it,over the slower Benz box.
@Mcmerc01 Truck's motor tend to have more than 11 liters! thats huge, 600cc sportbike's redline is around 16k, 1.8 liter honda can rev 8k to 10k, most corvette have 5.7 liters, able to rev to 7k stock. redline goes more less with more engine capacity. Diesel have awesome loads of torque in low rpm so it is suitable for heavy towing, no reason to rev more than 2,500 rpm.
@Mcmerc01 its size. big bits of metal don't like changing direction at speed. also its redline is 2500, but its governed to 2100, they will cope above 2100 but NOT recommended .
@Mcmerc01 Well engines used in trucks and tractors are direct injection diesels. They are more fuel efficient but they don't like high revs. That's why they haven't been used in cars until Audi found a way with high pressure injection and decent damping (they are also louder) to make them suitable for cars.Truck/tractor engines wouldn't last as long either. A car engine is pretty much just "playing" mostly while a truck engine has to work.
@shaned8845 i agree, but try to concentrate on torque if you want to have a good gas milage on your truck and if you want your engine last longer. i have been throug many driving practices with factory drivers from MB ,Renault or Scania. Unless it is an emergency situation or slowing down using an engine i would not go pass green zone.
It's in full auto at the 7.00 min mark, It changes very smooth even when it skipping gears. I would like to add that when i said this truck is real,It is real, not a game or make beleive, It is the one of the most car like trucks I have driven. When someone states thats a REAL TRUCK, In my mind that would be something that has a proper gearstick,a clutch pedal and at least some sort of sound affects. This "truck" has none of that
@martyPE1987 41.5 - 42.5tons gross. This truck only goes from a manufacturing plant to a warehouse loaded one way. It takes 55- 60 mins to load, deliver, unload, return, doesn't get past 70kph, most of the time lucky to get past 50 kph if the traffic is moving. Fuel economy is irrelevant in this particular job . I haven't driven this truck or any other Benz since 2007
Hi I have question for you qunahkar adam.Please can U expain me when I drive in 7 speed and I want to shifitng down whole gear I mean to get in 5th gear and if I push and hold left gumb and pull down the shifter will there shifitng in 5th gear,because I driving actros withe poweshift 1 with clutch and when I want whole gear down I push and hold and pull down the shifter and the shifted whole gear down and I wondering can I shifting with POWERSHIFT 2
What an Actros is this? A semi-trailer truck or what? My father drives a Actros 1841 Mega Space (big cab) truck tractor with semi-automatic gearbox from 2007
actually it was 52.9l/100, yes it's all city. If you look carefully you will also average speed is only 31.9kph, never gunna get good fuel economy at that average speed
Hello There I was about 10 years Mercedes-Benz engine-gearbox-differential doing mechanic Mercedes-Benz trucks of old / new in all models I have worked for Now the 12-speed for the first time you have used your Actros came to me and said there was a failure; Fully automatic / semi automatic driving if the gear does not exceed, for example: 5th when the gear 7th wants to get in gear, but now can not re-5th coming down to gear the whole gear to apply this failure falls traction motor when it is active and is now struggling to move the car What do you think could be causing this failure?
@Hreljin87 i guess volvo, mercedes dont give so much torque. i started new job with a mercedes v8 550hp. slower than the scania with 500 hp v8. so its difference. and scania performs better then volvo :)
I am Malik Mein Mercedes K gear auto auto gear Jo Uske code Kimmel Mathur setting Jana Chahta Hoon primer Pani Karke uski Nahi video TH-cam mein send karo thank you

Love the semi automatic setting on this

Guter Sound. Hab lange mehr kein Video mit so ner guten Soundqualität gesehen.
ja ist echt so, super Sound vom Actros!!!!!
Why they control the throttle in Actros? Unlike Volvo & Scania? 7:32
@shaned8845 yes it can grind, the gearbox itself is a manual gearbox. the auto is computers who controls the clutch and engine in gearshift, and sometimes it happens. it happened once while i was driving the volvo with i-shift transmission :)
@samsteryfc there is no clutcpedal there. the clutch and throttle performs automatic

My Volvo 480 I-Shift rules over my old Merc2546 pre-select. Woody Woodpecker did my head in tryin to pull quickly out of roundabouts.

@Neee35 no, this video was made in 2007, truck was then 3 months old
@Mcmerc01 its size.
big bits of metal don't like changing direction at speed.
also its redline is 2500, but its governed to 2100, they will cope above 2100 but NOT recommended .
The actross I drive has a clutch and the knob on the arm rest very strong little truck single drive b double rated.

@TheFuturetrucker the most drivers would put it to neutral befor 1 and half minutes stand still anyway :)
It's an '07 model, 2644, 6X4 Semi trailer, with a day cab (small)
@maddog12iff Nope. . .. it is a Primemover
yes, It will go back to nuetral if left in gear without moving
@shaned8845 i agree, but try to concentrate on torque if you want to have a good gas milage on your truck and if you want your engine last longer. i have been throug many driving practices with factory drivers from MB ,Renault or Scania. Game?
It's work! The truck is real
@lovetrain442 you simply cannot grind the gears, The window is open and all that noise is from outside
It's in full auto at the 7.00 min mark, It changes very smooth even when it skipping gears.

This "truck" has none of that
the sound it's like monster😊👍
@rockandroll626 This model didn't have adblue
no.
You can go from auto to manual or manual to auto any time you want
It doesn't have a clutch pedal if thats what you are asking
@polaris440man scania, 3551 nm and 730 hp :) and you can chip about 40 to 150 hp more i guess :) increases nm also :)
Do no I intend remains will be stand still as you just for instance for a bridge he then by itself back after a few minutes to neutrally?
My Father drives a MAN TGA 18.400. It's a cool Truck.
But this Truck is cooooool ;)
Is that 'Benz fitted with the PowerShift transmission, is it? From what I can interpret, it is the PowerShift!
love the sound
Yes, rev matches every shift
no i mean if you standing stil and let your gear in revers or drive is it then going back in neutral?
Nice sound !
It is not a mp3, it is a mp2. You can see the mp2 dashboard.
what happend to high and low gear? on our Mercedes we have only 8 gears but high and low
It's not mine, but you wouldn't get any change from $200k
what is the green lighton the tacho?
what happened at 2:39? Grind the gears in an automatic?
and between volvo and iveco?which one has better performance?
hows the adblue
@HappinessHappenin Read my reply, it WAS new when I did the video in 2007
Listen to that turbo, twin turbo?
@martyPE1987 41.5 - 42.5tons gross.

What is HUD?
hi, is there someone who can help me with the mp2 actros 12 speed it has stuck on gears?
Hi I have question for you qunahkar adam.Please can U expain me when I drive in 7 speed and I want to shifitng down whole gear I mean to get in 5th gear and if I push and hold left gumb and pull down the shifter will there shifitng in 5th gear,because I driving actros withe poweshift 1 with clutch and when I want whole gear down I push and hold and pull down the shifter and the shifted whole gear down and I wondering can I shifting with POWERSHIFT 2
What are you asking?
is it go back automatic back in N?
So which one has better performance.
Volvo or Mercedes.
@martyPE1987 how many tons did you have loaded for that trpip of 1304km?
MP3 i think
Yep. . . . thats right
It has a clutch but no clutch pedal
is an actros or axor ?
How were you switching geares?
does it have a clutch pedal?
What an Actros is this? A semi-trailer truck or what?
My father drives a Actros 1841 Mega Space (big cab) truck tractor with semi-automatic gearbox from 2007
Best trucks in the world Merc Actros
@Neee35
yes
Mercedes is the Best. I like the Actros. Mercedes and Scania this are my Favorites Trucks
This truck is a V8 or V6 ?
@ATGT5 only V6
actually it was 52.9l/100, yes it's all city.
If you look carefully you will also average speed is only 31.9kph, never gunna get good fuel economy at that average speed
do you have any idea where is the biggest torque in your truck? makes no sence to drive it in yellow field!!! these are low RPM engines
@Neee35 440 HP
@actrosMegaspace85 no, just a poverty pack day cab,
Hello There

@shaned8845 thanks
2644, '07 model
WHat makes a truck's motor so reluctant to rev? 2500 rpm...wow
It is an ACTROS
How did you record this.
With a camera
wheres the telligent clack-clack? ;)
there isn't one because this isn the telligent gearbox
does it has cluch?
Yes,it has a clutch but no clutch pedal
up amount can run AMA Take off the cutter
no clutch?
It does have a clutch, but no clutch pedal
I thought so :)
I thin you are full? or
@gengnepal V6
is this a bus
Horse power ?
440
@cablatore volvo
@NeoQuello Perhaps you should have someone explain to you the relation of looking shit up yourself on Google.
@Elliesdad1 volvo, better then scania also :)
@Hreljin87 i guess volvo, mercedes dont give so much torque. i started new job with a mercedes v8 550hp. slower than the scania with 500 hp v8. so its difference. and scania performs better then volvo :)
