I was among the first in the U.S. to start training on roller skis in the 1970's (Rollak at first, Edsbyn, Rolletto, and others followed). This brings me back, but I also appreciate the mad level of skills exhibited here! Great video.

I am wondering if these people will continue to love ski at my age- +60, still roller skiing every day and love it.
I just got both classic and roller skis. I run, cycle, mountain bike, and lift. Roller skiing (particularly skate) is slowly taking over as my favorite sport. I love how it works my entire body in a way that only mountain biking comes close to. I wish I could find a group to train with in Toronto. Lots of great spots to do it.

I got better after 25 km. Now I’m doing 8 km 3 times a week.

this is awesome. can you learn to ski using the rollers skis or is it just for experienced people?
You can learn to ski on rollers skis but it's not the same feeling that in ski. So the rollerblades will help you a lot but the first time you go skiing on snow you will have trouble finding your balance. On roller skiing it's harder to balance than on real ski so it's a very great way to learn how to ski. Hope it help

Hello dustin! thanks for the comment! My roller ski are the F1 sprint in skate and the V2 in classic. I recommend you to buy them at a local cross-country skiing shop but you can also order them online. I don't really know any particular online suppliers in UK because I live in Canada.
Look up SKIKE brand. You'll find them online.

So roller skiing is basically just roller blading?
Sort of. But because the rollerskis are longer and the wheels are not directly underfoot (but rather at the front and back) they better micmic the movement of skis. Also, your boot isn't fixed to the rollerski but hinges like it would on a ski.

you don't have brakes, what the other guy said was wrong. You brake kinda like in downhill skiing by forming a v-shape on your skis.

Hahaha yes! This video is in Ashwaubenon, Wisconsin, USA and yes many clubs are using roller ski agility parcours to practice in summer!

@@TheSteinbitt tf no. Therese Johaug ran a 10k in the 31's, and she would break the olympic requirements if she did a little bit of training. Didrik Tønseth placed 2nd in the norwegian cross country championship. Bjørn Dæhlie had a 8:15 3000m. And so on... They're far from shit!
armando18 I exaggerated of course, they’re extremely fit, but the do almost no fast running, only uphill and long runs on trails, so normally they are quite poor runners relative to their aerobic capabilities.
