i too binged this show despite thinking it was cringe after watching the first ep, but it was actually very interesting to watch and see how much things played out. I think the chemistry between the girls is kinda weak and was built up without much and suddenly they are confessing. We don’t see how much of Cal’s feelings aside from her dreams and what she says to Juliette
I felt like there was chemistry mainly on Juliette's end... Calliope must have felt lust when she saw her and that's why she kissed her, and although it was a cover, she enjoyed it. She began to feel touched by Juliette's naive and innocent nature and her feelings developed.
@@soobders6142 yes, since it’s (kinda?) from Juliette’s POV when it comes to the development of her crush it’s much more understanding from her side. With the Eve dreams and only one of them actually being a dream, I wonder if it’s just how their minds connect or if Cal is “under a spell” or something
@@cocteautwin We do get to see the same events in episode 1 from two different perspectives and the way in which they’re portrayed slightly changes depending on who’s telling the story. For example, in Cal‘s version she encourages Juliette during the pantry scene, whereas in Juliette‘s version she just sort of agrees to making out. They’re both unreliable narrators but I feel like for very different reasons. Cal pretends it‘s all part of her plan in giving Juliette a false sense of security. In reality, she is very much attracted to her but doesn‘t want to admit it and thus we don‘t get to see it just yet. Meanwhile, Juliette is still unsure about Cal‘s feelings towards her and therefore in her version Cal comes across slightly reserved. It could be a lot better in other areas though.
Why they thought they had the tools to kill the legacies that have been around for THOUSANDS of years was beyond me, and might I add aside from Elinor they weren’t really bothering anybody right??? So what was the reasonnnn But Cals parents leaving her with the strange man…. Ummm wtf. Juliettes parents were the monsters but Cals parents were the ones truly sick 😂😂 Cal and her family just gave me the most annoying vibes ever, clearly y’all don’t know everything and you’re actually quite literally making things worse in Savannah. 💀 Also, the actress who plays Cal was a little Disney at times with the acting and line delivery but that should be much better by next season!
I feel the same way about Cal's dad, why is he so cold? Talia isn't even Theo's biological mother, she wasn't even in his life that long, especially in the more formative years, and she cares more for him (Theo) than his dad!!! He is literally raising child soldiers and basing their self-worth on nothing else but the kills. Urgh you're so right about all the hunters are actually struggling with something within themselves, I really need further explanation for all these inexplicable actions. I don't think neither Theo or Apollo are his biological children either, they just adopted them in particular b/c they have had all their families killed by monsters. These hunters are purposefully picking traumatized kids and training them to kill like... even the vampires when given the chance, like those Canadian ones, could just feed with consent from their human servants, without killing. Juliette was given a largely normal childhood. And Savannah (like most parts of the U.S in this series, I assume) has enough safety from the monsters that most human live generally normal lives, until the end of the series where that's pushed by a very vocal minority. So I question as an organization, are they really efficient and making things up, or are they so inefficient and also making things up to justify their own existence?
The show is so unserious it either needs to embrace that more or get a bigger budget pleaseeeeeeee i loved it tho the cringe the bad dialogue the terrible cgi the unhinged father eating the grandmother
It was really hyped in the lesbian community for a short period when it was announced. I had high hopes. It was fine… I want a season 2 because I hope they can make it more interesting the second time around.
i wish writers had cal focus on the consequences of juliette turning theo in her anger (for example yelling at juliette for fact that her family would be forced to kill theo themselves rather than the fact that he was a vampire) because coming from the vampire lover cal herself it was a little weird to see. like you can accept juliette as a vampire but not your brother? maybe that wasn't the message they were trying to convey, but it's kinda hard to not see it as "i'd rather my brother be dead than a monster even though i am perfectly fine with my monster gf"
I think this was an ineffective “she’s special” trope execution. Like, oh no, you’re not like the rest of those people, you’re special, but it still doesn’t change my mind about anyone else of your kind. Like, she’s trying to overcome her prejudices, but she’s not there yet. But, I agree with you, they should’ve written it better.
Theo turning into the very thing he was taught to hate made me really sad (ik im a loser🤣💀)but overall the show is quite entertaining. Imma need a second season IMMEDIATELY and I need the funding for it to be at least 3 times what it was this season cause 🤡💀.
I thought the same thing! I was really annoyed that they blamed the vampires for ol girl’s parents death as if the vampires were supposed to just sit there and get stabbed and then not try and defend themselves when they were minding their own business.
One of my issues with the show was that we don’t get why Cal’s family was sent to Savannah in the first place. Like, if Oliver’s scheme was already set in motion first and that’s what brings them, it will make sense that they want to target the Legacies. I also agree that they didn’t do enough research to attack the party, but I think they are guilty of the same hubris they claim Apollo has in the show. I also think they want to build the Guild as them having some kind of ulterior motive that they aren’t telling them, which is why they gave them the sphere, but that wasn’t set up well.
From what I understood about the whole Juliette being naive about how all the vampire stuff works, she purposefully avoids all of it as much as possible growing up because she doesn't want to become a fully-fledged vampire, she doesn't want to engage in the Legacy society, and that's reinforced by her reading up on Legacy history the day of her consecration. I have rewatched the show a good 20 times so I've thought about this...a LOT LMAO and I do think it makes sense that she doesn't actually know a whole lot about how it all works, but at the same time Calliope's frustration with Juliette here makes a lot of sense because you would think a born and raised vampire would know how vampirism works from an outside perspective.
Showing that the vampires could be "vegetarians" and the ability to drink blood without killing could have made a tiny difference. It could have made a small difference with Juliet at least. Instead of Juliet being all "I'm a monster but don't want to be a monster but don't know how" she could have learned that she could feed without having to kill. I know that kinda is what her brother was trying to say to her but he was ok with effed up stuff
@@courajess The whole thing could have been explained as "You have to kill during your first to be able to feed without killing afterwards. There are multiple instances where Elinor or the Grandma could’ve explained why they HAD to kill their first. I watched this whole show in one sitting while I was braiding my hair and that shit was hilarious. The editing when juliettes dad ate the grandma had me so weak 😭
see, people have been calling the show terrible, but THAT'S WHAT WE WANT!!! Lesbians, specially lesbians of color, deserve corny shit too!! I love masterpieces like Half of It, but sometimes you just need your lesbian TVD Let it be bad, straight white shows have been bad and get 10 seasons and spin offs, we should get that too!!
I will give it this, I honestly had no idea what they were gonna do next moment to moment, and not really in a shock-value way. And they really kept me guessing on who was in the right and who I was supposed to like. A lot of seductively good performances and heartfelt moments matched with bad behavior. Even Oliver got me a little.
I really hope there's something we don't know about Oliver that puts an additional twist on his basic motivation for wreaking havoc. I mean what the hell is going on with the witch? I'm gonna choose to have faith that the writers have ideas for her more than just "along for the ride" or "secretly pulling his strings" because those would be boring and kinda problematic (yes even in spite of the fantastic representation all over the show).
I love camp and foolishness, so I loved the hell out of this show. I had to show up for the black fam more than the gay aspects of the show. Glad you at least liked it tho
I watched the series because I teach the short story in my Intro to Lit course, and it went way differently than what I expected. I’m here for it, but making it like High Society vampires vs secret society of monster hunters in a world where people know monsters exist… I’m still processing, but overall, I really like the premise of the show.
tbh i feel like this show gets too much hate like what the difference between this show and other shows like teen wolf, twilight and the vampire diaries??? people were very lesbophobic and antiblack very sad to see
Whats the difference? Money lol. But for real, Teen Wolf & Vampire Diaries are actually pretty good, especially certain seasons. I semi enjoyed First Kill but it didn’t know what tone it wanted, and has so many dropped plot threads and just wacky events occurring that I couldn’t take it seriously even as something camp and cringe. The other shows have very solid plot, character, world building, score etc. they just happen to be supernatural shows so they get an automatic dismissal
They should’ve given Jules and Cal more time to know each other. Maybe have Cal get close to show off that Cal is not reckless and made sure that Juliette was a threat before killing her. Then we can see Cal slowly fall for Jules despite her suspicions. That is ripe for drama and comedy. Then Jules biting her is just the nail in the coffin and Cal feels bad about it. So when they fight, we can see that Cal's heart is not in it. She wants to believe in her goodness but can’t get passed her being a vampire. Jules can sense that and convinces her to stand down or even use her paralysing blood to get Cal to stop and listen to her.
@@dontwant2 Especially since Juliette was trying to DRAIN him of his blood, not giving blood to him. I don't know why she didn't just call an ambulance. Why didn't Apollo call an ambulance?!
Juliet was harsh, but Ben needed to hear it in that way for him to change his thinking and change his behavior. He had to be reminded that he deserves more than a closet case side boyfriend. Its not just that Noah doesn't respect Ben enough to be out. Noah doesn't respect or love himself. He has to work on that, but Ben deserves to be happy with someone who isn't afraid to claim him openly.
Yea I need the next season to have a better budget. Like I saw the vision, but in order for them to actually execute Netflix needs to put some money in and invest!!
just finished it and i stand behind you on everything you said. would've loved to hear more what you think of calliope and juliette's relationship but i agree that i see the vision of it being good if netflix gave them more than five dollars and a dream of a budget.
I think the writers need to take a step back see which storylines are the mist important and can best follow through and just work from there when we get season 2
i love the representation but I couldn't pass 3 episodes sorry 😭 very unserious show. But I hope it gets renewed with a higher budget and better writing
This show for some reason reminds me of a teenage mix version of true blood and moonlight (both my fave vampire shows) I hope S2 has more of a budget because Netflix has money to spend especially now since they’re adding ads. I really wish the witch was Talia’s sister that would’ve been a nice plot twist maybe she is I’m still hoping I really thought she was.

see, people have been calling the show terrible, but THAT'S WHAT WE WANT!!! Lesbians, specially lesbians of color, deserve corny shit too!! I love masterpieces like Half of It, but sometimes you just need your lesbian TVD
Let it be bad, straight white shows have been bad and get 10 seasons and spin offs, we should get that too!!
Yeah if the show was good we could 🤥
Jules’ dad eating the grandmother is hilarious, awful cgi😭💔
I will give it this, I honestly had no idea what they were gonna do next moment to moment, and not really in a shock-value way.
And they really kept me guessing on who was in the right and who I was supposed to like. A lot of seductively good performances and heartfelt moments matched with bad behavior. Even Oliver got me a little.
Whoever is responsible for the music choice on this show needs to fight me outside a Denny’s ASAP!
I literally binged this show I think it’s good but u make a lot of valid points thanks for this amazing video love u girl
the cgi was very live action scooby doo vibes
but somehow worse😭
I really hope there's something we don't know about Oliver that puts an additional twist on his basic motivation for wreaking havoc. I mean what the hell is going on with the witch? I'm gonna choose to have faith that the writers have ideas for her more than just "along for the ride" or "secretly pulling his strings" because those would be boring and kinda problematic (yes even in spite of the fantastic representation all over the show).
I love camp and foolishness, so I loved the hell out of this show. I had to show up for the black fam more than the gay aspects of the show. Glad you at least liked it tho
I FEEL YOU. when i watched the first episode i was like, “this is camp… but i like it.”
@@roarkayla938 I grew up on campy shows, so this was a no-brainer for me
I binge watched it 💀
‘ It was giving Lunchables, and they don’t deserve that’ 😂😂
i watched this show in the way i watch emily in paris, like ik its bad, but we’re having fun!!!!
When the fight happened in like episode 2, I was very much confused how they were going to move on from that. It was too much too early.
Okay but how come Juliette bit Callioupe but, she didn’t turn into a vampire?
Yeah that had me so confused 😂👀👀
They can feed from others without turning them. They turn others by giving them their blood.
@@katybee3891 Girl u lying 🤥 how when she bite Theo and he became a vampire🧛🏾🧏🏾♀️
@@dontwant2 Especially since Juliette was trying to DRAIN him of his blood, not giving blood to him. I don't know why she didn't just call an ambulance. Why didn't Apollo call an ambulance?!
I think there's just a chance of turning into a vampire. And also Theo actually died which is necessary to become a vampire in lots of vampire media
Say’s the guy that’s trash 🗑 talking him 🤷🏾♀️
I’m hoping we get a second season because this is the creature feature cheese I need in my life since Buffy left
Yea I finished the show in 2 days. Yea I liked it. YEA the moms had the best chemistry and lastly YEA I NEED I SEASON 2
i really hope season 2 gets renewed with a higher budget…. it has a lot of potential and i want to see more of calliette, i don’t care if it’s cheesy.
It got CANCELLED😍🗿🗿
We needed a campy lesbian show, would it have been better if the budget wasn’t 3 crumpled ones and half of a la croix…yeah…but I loved it
I just have to make a point that Aubin Wise who plays Cal’s mom is one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen
Yea I need the next season to have a better budget. Like I saw the vision, but in order for them to actually execute Netflix needs to put some money in and invest!!
Theo's ending was so stupid!!!! ya'll didnt call 911??? Juliet couldnt have called 911???? he was still breathing. No one could check for a pulse?!
The same thing with the creepy dead guy. Juliette can hear heartbeats ffs
An hour? We won!!!
I need amanda to review heartstopper because its like first kill but also not at all... They're campy in VERYYYY different ways
There needs to be a season 2… Need!
And ugh your earrings are so cute
yessss!!! i wasn't expecting you to cover first kill but i'm here for it. i'm watching everything rn!
just finished it and i stand behind you on everything you said. would've loved to hear more what you think of calliope and juliette's relationship but i agree that i see the vision of it being good if netflix gave them more than five dollars and a dream of a budget.
This was an interesting show and one of my favorite genres. I do feel like it came off corny sometimes but I liked the show overall
💅🏿✨ i need to know miss amandas opinion
I haven’t watched the show yet but this guild sounds more like a cult
i binged this show and loved it lol
honestly expected myself to hate it
I think the writers need to take a step back see which storylines are the mist important and can best follow through and just work from there when we get season 2
I admire those who actually form an opinion by watching the show fully. I am a stan hoping for a season 2.
THIS IS THE FIRST NOTIF IVE GOTTEN FOR YOU IN SO LONG EVEN THOUGH I CLICKED THE BELL IM SO HAPPY
Thequeenpostedthequernpostedthequeenposted I missed you sm ma’am thank you we needed this
I luv this show so much, its everything it's meant 2 be
THE QUEEN IS BACK
This show was bad but i need a season 2 right now
The queen is back!
i love the representation but I couldn't pass 3 episodes sorry 😭 very unserious show. But I hope it gets renewed with a higher budget and better writing
QUEEN OF BLASIA MY STOMACHHSDHSJ
will be using this video as a series recap when this finally gets renewed
“you got blasian baddie’s parents killed” 💀💀💀
I haven't watched your videos in so long, what an absolute DELIGHT to have had an edible, started cooking, and bump into this video tonight.
the earrings are too cute
It was entertaining, I guess they try to play the " lesbian fall in love quickly" thing but it was little cringy
Loved this 💕
I wish the show continued 🥺
This show for some reason reminds me of a teenage mix version of true blood and moonlight (both my fave vampire shows) I hope S2 has more of a budget because Netflix has money to spend especially now since they’re adding ads. I really wish the witch was Talia’s sister that would’ve been a nice plot twist maybe she is I’m still hoping I really thought she was.
watch HEART SHOT on netflix!! it’s a short film and it has lesbian/sapphic leads!! it’s so good
"I've never done that before personally" and she was so serious too. Is there someone here that has parented a monster hunter?
I loved all the cheesiness!!!!! I really hope it's renewed! The leads chemistry it 🔥🔥🔥🔥 and Talia is a great actress!!!
You should do a video on Zoo! Stopped watching when a character I loved died but it was a really good and underrated show!
LMFAOOOO not the trials and test run of the weaponry
They just canceled it 😔🥲
i couldn’t even bet through the first episode fr im sorry 😭
ALSO IVE MISSED UR VIDEOS SO MUCH

It's fun because I feel so bad for the whole Burns family and not at all bad for the Fairmont family bc everything that's happening to them I think they deserve
20:16 That made me cackle, I didn't expect for that to happen😭 Loved it though
