After watching dozens and dozens of tutorials on how to do this YOU finally mentioned the key piece of info that allowed me to figure this out. No one but you ever said to hold down the shift key (or since I am on a PC hold down CTRL plus ALT) and keep the mouse button clicked while you drag and drop the sky layer onto your photo. I am so very grateful for your video and I would send you chocolates and flowers if I could.
Anthony, I wanted to say thank for all your videos, especially Lightroom and Elements. You video have given me confidence and skills with Adobe products that I never possessed before. I cannot say thank you enough. I have gone back through vacation photos starting from 2007 and the difference is night and day. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!
I always learn something new from watching your videos. In the past with PSE, I would use the + and - to move the edges of the mask to fit what I wanted. Now I see that I could have been using the Refine Edges part of the Quick Selection tool. I also learned how to take care of the white halo that I get in photos from time to time. THANK YOU so much, Tony, for all your dedication and help in the field of photography.
I know this was 6 years ago and I do not know if you still monitor this but I had a question,. How can you add the new clouds to the reflection in the water? And a big thanks for all your lessons.
Hi Anthony ! Great tutorial and everything worked fine up to the point in the video where you adjust the position of the sky. Only the masked bit moves !! I.e I get a blank space between my photo and the imported sky !! Help !!
Hi Anthony...thanks for this simple, great video. I'm just starting to grasp PSE and this is awesome! One thing, when I closed the file in PSE, I went to library in LR and it won't let me click synch library. Any tips for getting it back in LR? Thanks!
I am using Version 10 of Elements... I don't seem to have the brush you refer to at 5:44 in the "Refine Edge" tool... does 10 have that brush in another area or is it just available in versions above 10... what a great tool that is for refining... might be worth an upgrade just for that...
Thanks for the detailed video Anthony (all your videos are great)...One question...This worked great 2 times last night. Today however in Elements, when I click on the first photo, and then however over the tab of the second photo..That second photo does not become active so that I can drag photo 1 onto photo 2. I tried rebooting computer and Element (13), but I can't get the second photo to become active when I however the mouse over the tab at the top...Any ideas...Thanks as always,,, Philip.
Elements 14 and 15, the way I send it back to LR is "save" , then in dialogue box click replace image and that's all. The edited pic is in LR. Don't know if this works with earlier versions of Elements but I would guess so.
OK, I am fairly inexperienced with Lightroom BUT have used photoshop and my main issue now is having difficulty finding simple manipulations for Photoshop Elements 13 Editor in connection with Lightroom 5. A big change from other software in the past. I mainly am trying to work on changing boring, blown out skies and getting to load two photos into Elements.
I have Elements 11.I try to use the quick selection tool but it is no way near as cooperative as the quick selection tool you use in finding the edge (dark/light) between the ground horizon and the sky to remove. What am I doing wrong? Is there a good alternative??
When I export my photos from Lightroom the bit depth dialog box does not pop up in Elements...Is there a setting or something I must do to get the box to pop up so I can access the controls in the box? Thanks as always.....
I have similar water outside my window. I'll give it a try. Should be possible to "adapt" to the "texture of the water", so the reflections look natural. Sometimes, these things are much easier than one would expect.
***** Hm , I dunno the water 'waweness' would make the reflections dissorted irl . On the other hand , I always tend to underestimate the powers of thesse softwares , I just do not understand how it works .
Aqull So you think the pond with no clouds looks realistic? I understand it would be difficult, maybe impossible, but Malte's question was the first one I also asked myself. Beautiful clouds in the sky but none on the pond reflection, even in the still water near the very bottom? Excellent tutorial, for sure, but hope someone can come up with the next step.
Hi Anthony, thanks for making this video. I selected two Raw pictures in LR5 and selected "Edit In Elements." I get the pop-up box for "What to Edit," but I don't have the "Copy File Options." Please help. Can you also make another video for how to swap a moon. I want to take a picture of the stars, but then the moon would be blown-out. So I want to take two pictures, one for the stars and another one for the moon, and then put them together. Unless there's an easier way to do this. Thanks again for all the great videos.
Thanks Anthony! I'll be waiting in anticipation. I'm going camping the end of October so I want to learn what I need to do to get a nice composites. By the way, I have LR5 and elements 12

how do i get the clouds in water reflection thanks
Nice and easy. Did you toy with the idea of adjusting the reflection in the pond as well? More clouds == more reflections.
I do not think it is is possible to do it realisticaly , since the pond is not completely still , it is wawy. Everything he would try would look fake.
I have similar water outside my window. I'll give it a try. Should be possible to "adapt" to the "texture of the water", so the reflections look natural. Sometimes, these things are much easier than one would expect.

Here's something to look at for ideas:
Photoshop For Photographers - Episdode 11: Add The Moon To An Image
Does this work the same way in Elements 14? Also, what if you are not starting in Lightroom?

TetsusaigaDrgn Yes, I'll do a moon swap video.
