Strongest Byzantium is formed by Austria. You can get the HRE, Hungary, Bohemia, Poland, Lithuania, Burgundy and Spain (via the event) easily and then become Byzantium, do all the things in record time.

How do you get Catholic dev as Ottomans ? The easiest way is either eyalet all orthodox countries in the Balkans, and conquer Hungary manually, Or straight up manually annex Iberia. That's a lot of work, time, and AE before you even anywhere near the HRE. I'm not saying this is impossible, but that would be hard as balls,
Weird when I attack Byzantium when allied to Wallachia they absolutely refused to get military access with the Ottomans , but when they are allied to Herzegovina they do get access.
at 13:32 I tried this strategy in a regular Austria campaign and the rebels always go in the same direction no matter how many times i savescum. Does anyone know what I could be doing wrong?
I'm trying to do this following your guide. I have just finished the war with the Ottomans and have the same provinces you do and am working on provoking the rebels for Byzantium and Bulgaria. The problem is the Byzantium rebels keep spawning in Constantinople and nowhere near Siroz where they can siege down the province and be protected from the Ottomans. Do you have any suggestions for work arounds or how I can force this? Thank you so much!
When you plan to keep the italian provinces in the HRE and revoke the privilege then no, but if you let them leave then maybe if you dont care about the AE, then thake the throne
@@NickHymen System of council reform is super strong + they have insane diplo annexing cost in missions. They are in a more interesting position than GB, and can basically do anything England could (AKA colonization, Fighting france)
my brother in christ, when you do something that changes certain values in your country whilst paused you will not see the changes until in some cases you unpause or in all other cases you let a month tick / click the economy tab lol like i'm not having a go, it's not your fault the game is spaghetti code at this point lol, but fr when you go to check your charts without unpausing my BP goes up 10 points xD
Wallachia never grants mil-access in my games (about 10 attempts up to that point). The only country that has so far is Serbia, in which case you can't immediately siege Constantinople due to byz and serbia ganging up on your defensive army. I don't know how Wallachia gets mil-access from the Ottomans in your game.
Try to play the game with Xorme - AI, makes the ai play to its forcelimit, build forts, they attack as soon they can, Byz will be gone by the time you get access to the balkans, its makes the game less predictable, ai is more aggresive, and more realistic, I think you will like it. I hate that in vannila the Ottos just stand there for 10 or more years doing nothing, while they can do 3 wars at the same time.

Not for me though. In one game that horse event never fired so I had them around for a long time. They’re a great vassal to keep, as it turned out.
