Lmao I bought a used Xbox one S for the sole purpose of playing discs, otherwise I would have bought the series S. I spent $323 after tax at a local mom and pop shop. Didn’t realize my disc reader didn’t work until yesterday when I bought Tony Hawks 1&2 to play. So they essentially sold me a faulty Xbox for the price of a retail modern gen console. And if I take it back to return it they will charge me a refurbishing fee when they initially should have tested it when they were purchasing it from the seller. So now I’m stuck with this pos console
My Xbox is weird. Normally you would put the disk there and it would pull it in but since a few months ago now we have to put the disk there, then press the eject button and it pulls it in. Very weird
Any suggestions?
I’ve tried the “hold the power button for 10 seconds” theory, the “put it halfway in and let it spin” theory, the “turn it on it side and let gravity do its thing” theory, I’ve tried the “power saver mode” theory and I’ve tried cleaning my discs. I’m out of ideas. The only thing I haven’t tried is cleaning the dust out but I don’t have the tools to take my Xbox apart and I don’t have an air can to blow it out so please let me know if you have any ideas??
Hair dryer on low settings
I have one that will play blu ray movies no problem, I have successfully installed one game from disc but it’s having a heck of a time detecting game discs. It’s driving me nuts.

I have a XBOX ONE S which is doing the exact same thing. I hadn't touched it in roughly a year and was working fine the last time it was on.. Now it's doing exactly what that one was at the start.
Awesome, fix seems simple enough.. but 2 more Xboxes for spare parts and pray that you don't have to buy a third.. or find a safe site to still have to purchase multiple parts...😑🔫

Does anyone else’s make a weird wirring noise, it also doesn’t even acknowledge that a disc has been put in.
My Xbox one s didn’t read discs and few days later stopped turning on and I still have that Xbox now because it’s been repaired and I still have another Xbox one s for spares lol
What model chassis is the disk drive? I want to do the whole swap, with just the board. I want to make sure I order the right part..
what motor does the disc drive use ? can i use one from an old bluray player ?

@@GetRefurbed it's alright man I took the drive out my old one s I just had to swap the motherboard and shave off one of the plastic mounts on the front of the disc drive . other then that they run the same disc drive . it's an easy swap

my xbox wont read the 2k23 disc
I've got same sort of problem, brand new laser fitted and it still not reading dis., could it be a motor problem, makes noises trying to work but nope :/
I just power off with button and retried and it worked eventually
everytime i put a disc in my xbox, it won't read at all. the disc will go in no problem but nothing will come up, it won't even tell me if the disc is working or not so i checked to see if the drive was working i then realized it wasn't even moving. is it broken?
It could be several things buddy, go with a new laser first but it could be the mechanism itself.

I have this Xbox, it will play fifa 20 disc but it won’t play my Xbox 360 discs, I don’t know why it doesn’t even spin the discs and won’t show up on the Home Screen.
I don't believe the One S is backwards compatible with 360 discs buddy. I could be wrong but I think you'll need a 360 to play those.

Hi Wayne! I got an xbox one (OG) it doesn’t read xbox one games but it does read: xbox, xbox 360 and Blu-ray! Would you go and try to replace the laser?! Weird that it plays everything except xbox one!!

I think my disc reader is busted. It only plays certain discs. I swear Microsoft is ran by idiots. No wonder the PlayStation has been getting win after win.
