I love how calm and decisive she sounds in JP, the first time i heard EN i was thrown off by how much she shouts. This is definitely better
Side note, Weight of life is an amazing music choice for her
You forgot another turn begin line "Soumetsu kaishi" (Initiate clean-up) when an enemy is weakness broken
I always thought it was translated as "annihilation initiated", but both are cool af lol

Slight corrections (based on personal understand of Japanese):

2. for 2x speed Complete Combustion Skill lines:
Moyashi tsukusu : Burn it down / Burn it to nothing (somewhere among these)
And also sekai which is just world
I'm assuming they just took the English voicelines (apart from the Katakana that can be easily translated) and used it as the English translation. Not a big deal though as I think people come to hear the voicelines

What's she's saying here (based on my hearing) Seikai [星海] that formed from two kanjis, The kanji of star [星] and kanji of sea [海]. So from my understanding, it means "Sea of stars."

please keep up these types of vids! I am learning Japanese and play HSR with Japanese dub. I really want to understand the voice-lines but it is difficult in game since no subtitles while battling, and this really helps with dual subtitles! (Japanese + romaji)

Honestly the ENG Sam/Firefly's voice is terrible, especially Firefly when in enhanced mode, her voice is so high pitched, it became very annoying when using her Enhanced skills. I'd wish she doesn't really have to shout because it ruined her voiceline. Nothing wrong with the VA as I like her voice personally, the high pitch voice just sound terrible imo.
Japanese VA is freaking TOP NOTCHED in both Sam and Firefly, Japanese Firefly thank goodness doesn't even need to have a high pitch voice and did unnecessary shout when using enhanced skill.
bro same, i love EN and i love FF, but i dont like the EN va direction for her with the high pitch shouting, esp when using her in SU when she can spam alot her skill,

That line had no sense, just was an edit, it balongs to a 2.2 cinematic when firefly leave before sundays battle.

I noticed that compares to Firefly's usual softer voice, her voice when her ult is activated is more upbeat or firm.
To compare it with Tomori's characters, normal Firefly is like Misha or Kanade while her ult voice is like Setsuna/Nana.

though it's maaaaybe kinda late but meh... i'll just say it. The difference between EN and JP is very pronounced. My argument will be quite long so I'll just split it up.
for EN, both in story and battle, Firefly feels more expressive, I don't know how to describe it but I think she shows her feelings more in speaking, where her tone variations are more pronounced in EN, so I think Firefly EN is more expressive (and also... God ... the way she screams all the time in battle mode, it hurts my ears)
For JP, both in story and battle, Firefly really maintains her tone of voice, throughout the story she sounds very gentle and polite. Of course there are differences in tone but her VA managed to convey Firefly's expression without changing the character we know (gentle and polite)
The SAM between EN and JP is very pronounced where for EN he sounds more cruel while JP sounds polite. As for fighting mode, well... there are 2 opinions, EN who is more explosive (and shouts) and JP who is calmer but still manage to show her willing to fight.
Honestly, I prefer JP myself, I'm not saying EN is bad. It's just that the image that Firefly has a gentle, polite and sweet personality... has stuck in my head, especially for the battle mode which shows more of her fighting spirit but is still in the Firefly character that was introduced to us from the start. And because of that, when i playing the story, I didn't even skip/speed up her dialogue at all.
Not gonna lie but Sam really look similar to Genos from One punch man
maybe an unpopular opinion but i wish we could hear more of sam’s voice during her ult form, especially when she’s almost always in that form

"I shall set the seas ablaze" must had been the line when she uses her ulti, and just with sam's voice, their current voice lines in battle are terrible , at least in English version...

@@notcampers No, it wasn't that one. It was one on which her japanese VA spoke in english, alongside SAM japanese VA. Which was weird, but sounded fine. Besides, the dialogue from that cutscene is actually part of the English-Japanese Battle voicelines of Firefly
EN has more anger in Firefly. While JP is more calm and determined. I like both. If people would understand that each VA has their own personality and actually different people, then they wouldn't comment on EN VA negatively.
I think jp ff is more true to her desperation and struggle against the swarm. But I think en does it better she puts her whole soul into her battle cries.

Not only her but some other characters too. Beside shouting, there's only flat tone like reading newspaper with no emotion.
JP Firefly stands true to the character. The low and sad tone before rasing her voice to portray her desperate attempt to stay alive. Not just randomly shouting everything.
Most EN VA in this game just not as good as Reverse:1999 or Epic 7.
Those are some good EN VA.

EN Firefly puts more emotions and efforts in her voice lines than JP Firefly. So i think EN firefly is better 🐧

If only there was a world where we could have both, I prefer how calm Firefly is in jp but I think SAM sounds so fucking badass in en, just love the extreme contrast between calm/ sweet woman and edgelord mech
Totally fair, I could see why. My problem with EN voiceline is just her shouting way too much, so it gets annoying over time.
I love her seiyuu since her voice sounds much calmer but still captures her emotion pretty well. Plus SAM sounds like a distinguished gentleman so that's a plus point for me.
That subjective I prefer JP Firefly more than EN cause she sound sweet and calm perfect for girlfriend type, also not screaming in the top her lung everytime Ulti because definitely cause me bit irritated when she keep in EN like that.
It depends on how you see It. In jp She sound determinate and fully committed to her Dreams.
In eng sound like they Just killed her Mommy and She want to take Revenge of It.
Joke aside. In the long run, during fights Is Better to not have someone that screams all the time like asta from black clover, at least for my mentale sanity
