At around 8 min mark, the interviewer goes on a long tirade on why Kellogg didn't launch upma, poha when that's what Indians eat. Showing his disdain for management consultants and what not. And did McDonalds launch vada-pav when they entered India? Did Dominos/Pizza Hut launch pav bhaji or Bombay sandwiches when they launched? India barely knew what a burger or a pizza was when these guys set up shop and now, I don't even need to elaborate on how prominent and sizeable those markets are in India. If Indians barely ate oats, why did Saffola (a company owned by our Indian Marico group) launch a range of oats-based breakfast which became wildly popular? It's a tragedy to watch interviews where the calibres of interviewer and interviewee are vastly mismatched. It's a bit liked watching Rahul Dravid being interviewed by Karan Johar, instead of a Harsha Bhogle.
Excellent insights into the Indian market.
Thank you.
Enticing pricing
