Hello John. I wanted to write to you a few days ago to please take care of yourself when you said that many people at the Horse Guard were coughing and sniffling. For example, in Berlin, Covid is on the rise again. This is not determined through rapid tests, which no one does anymore without certain symptoms, but through wastewater monitoring. Compared to the previous week, the viral load has increased by 31%.

Some of the children have much better judgment than the adults. They don't want to get bitten.
Much respect for Ormonde's rider today. She's not just sitting there with a loose rein. She has him under control as much as she can under the continual advance of the tourists. When you hear those teeth snap together he really means business. I used to ride a lesson horse like Ormonde. Over 16 hands of pure terror.Getting him tacked up was an ordeal. Not only did he bite and swing his head he would step on your foot. The first time he tried to crush me I had several sliced apples. After he pushed off I gave him some apple. For unknown reason he decided to love me. We became good friends and he never tried to harm me in anyway...with others he showed no mercy. I have often wondered if Ormonde has a favorite guard.
I imagine the troopers and officers watch many of these videos and laugh themselves silly at him squaring people up out there. lol.

He's loved around the world. People will hurt them over King Ormonde the legend ❤. I'm in the States and would fight for the Kings guards too. The rude tourists really chap my butt. I know how the local people feel. We deal with tourists here on the coast ❤❤ much respect❤❤

Ormonde is definitely fixated on the curly haired young man in the black T-Shirt with the shark on it...everytime he appears Ormonde's head & ear's go up, he's actually on full alert & staring the young man in the eye challenging him "come & have a go if you think you're hard enough".... Ormonde is doing what he's there to do, he's guarding the entrance to the King's palace.... This trooper is one of the best where Ormonde is concerned, she's experienced, alert to his behaviour but loyal, kind & caring of her horse, she won't tolerate any disrespect toward's her or Ormonde & he fully respect's her... They're a winning combination ❤❤❤❤

It always makes me laugh when they are stood under the sign that quite clearly says " these horses may kick and bite" but have the nerve to br shocked when they get bitten and they always seem to look at the guards as if to say aren't you going to do something about that. I wouldn't mind but he has a very distinct mark on him so anyone who watches any of the videos on her knows who he is

That was a magical moment - guy fully deserved that, intentional or not.
nd the disabled.. is so sweet. Animals know when to go carefully with certain people. In fact I saw a video about it yesterday.. in dogs. Shen i was little we had a five year old Keyshond.. I am now 68. when my brother was 3.5 he prevented him being run over by rushing at him and pushing him forcibly onto the pavement out of the way of a car he was about to step in front off. I saw it all happen quickly. He saw it about to happen and moved forward with such speed. Utterly intelligent of him. Around the same time one night he barked my Father awake.. there was a fire in the kitchen.. or one about to take hold. Some nappies were drying on a clothes horse around the old coke stove in there.. long time ago. Mum must have put it a tad too close and the draught from the heat caused one to fall onto the stove. He acted swiftly and barked loudly and out of character, because Dad got down there as it was still smouldering and seconds away from catching alight. Wonderful dog.

Very nice piece of horsemanship by the guard at 25:45 , subtly offering a correction to the horse to redirect his head and prevent him from biting the young children.
Normally I say tourists are on their own, so if they misbehave they get bit.🤷♀️ But it was a good job by the guard to watch out for the little children, seeing as their parents were too busy taking pictures to give a thought to their safety.

A horse’s left eye is their “rapid reaction eye” - the side they usually prefer to have anything they aren’t sure about. The side they can react quickly to if necessary. But it seems like Ormonde has two rapid reaction eyes cos he reacts “rapidly” to idiots on both sides.
I love how he lulls them in by pretending to be in “snooze mode” then lunges just as they think they’re safe with that nice, placid little horsey. His mission today seems to be to teach some pushy tourusts their manners.
But he does give them a warning pre-lunge. Laid back ears shows he’s angry and/or in territorial protection mode. Accompany pinned back ears with flared nostrils and that’s a clear “sod off if you know what’s good for you” message. It’s not Ormonde’s fault if those pesky tourist don’t speak horse.
Kudos to the lady trooper who manages to keep a straight face throughout.

Ormonde is perfectly ok with people that approach from the front, funnily enough. He doesn’t like people at his sides.

Or in our case here in rural Western Australia, we mask because my husband has a form of vascular dementia and I'm his sole carer (with a heart condition) and our only child lives in Canada. If either of us catch covid we're in serious trouble, with my husband's geriatrician warning that a covid infection (covid being a vascular disease) will either kill him outright or cause such a rapid deterioration in his condition that he'll need to go into full time care ..... where he'll be constantly exposed since aged care staff and visitors no longer mask.

Some people wear a mask to protect them selves, i.e. if they have a compromised immune system, it can be bad for them being close to that many people. Love the channel and your commentary. xx
