In regards to Ancient Fairy Dragon, A big reason why Field Spells sucked back then was because you could destroy your opponents Field Spells by activating your own. So even when there were good ones, and even when they had protection effects, they had an inherent weakness to becoming meta. This didn't matter as much later on when Ravine came out because that was a combo piece more than anything
In 2013-ish I remember throwing Rescue Rabbit to summon double Shocktrooper to make King of the Feral Imps to search Ammonite in a Fire Fist deck just to bounce my own Tenki - and Tensu more importantly - for spot removal. One of my favorite bad decks of all time because regular Fire Fists bored me to tears.
I saw on Japanese Anime on August/September that year. Yusei combo QuickDraw with LVL Eater and I was so amazed because i knew that those cards would definitely come out in real.
Played fortune lady, twilight LS, and flamvell cat back in the day. Fortune was pretty fun deck, sadly light easily can be miss timing killed the potential, but it still was okay rogue option, dem draw 2 felt so good lol. Future vision also pretty good field spell, along with more draw woth fortune future.
27:47 Do this day I can't believe that Jarel Pro Winston went to the world championship and played exodia there omg. And why do I remember this fact, 10 years later???
At that time I had the only deck that was able to completely shutdown TeleDAD and Gladiator Beast: A fantastic fairy-counter with the hard-to-get Dark Bribe, Van'Dalgyon, Harvest Angel and Honest. I just destroyed every other deck in this format except a classic beatdown deck with D.D. Assailant/Warrior Lady in a couple of big tournaments. Unfortunately I had to quit playing on May 2009 because my daughter just born and I was just 21. Great times.
this was the time I first became aware of the meta and played the most IRL by far and had a group of like 5-10 friends who all played different but good decks. I have tons of nostalgia for basically every format from DSF up to the end of 2011 or so (probably around when dino rabbit became a thing) and my friends stopped playing.
I was at YCS Dortmund playing against a dude, which let me go first. So I handlooped for 4 cards and the person next to him said: wait until you see. Then I passed and he just set 1 monster face-down. To be secure I popped it with Grapha and couldnt believe what I saw. It was mystical elf. He also didnt have an Extra Deck. He told me, that he only plays cards from the first season and participated at the pharao tours. But he was very kind and also just gifted me one of his 10 Dune boosters.
In response to your distrust of chat, 2xDSF = 8k damage was an easy guess because of your tone. You sounded too disgusted by it for it to be just any random value over lethal, so it had to be exact. I may as well mention that, even as a person who's never played this game, Colossal Fighter is the card that comes to mind when I see Armory Arm.
I know what it was 14 years ago, because I was there 14 years ago lol. Been here for GOAT, DAD, Dragon Ruler, PEPE, tear, etc. playing locals, regionals, and the rare SJC or YCS if they came near me. But only started playing casually competitive 2022. but there had been a few breaks, the biggest one being HS 2007-2011 I would play occasional locals, regionals, and SJC/YCS if my friends went and would play some random deck they would let me borrow and test the weekend/day before. . I lost A LOT, but did have a handful of tops.
Watching this makes me so sad... my parents kicked me out when i was 15 (2012) and they threw away all my cards ... i had like over 5000 2006-2012 era cards. And just looking at all the prices now because of eddison it easily about a few thousand € but also the nostalgia and the childhood memories.
MAGO and MGED both were bad. The macaroni/cheap gold over the cards ruins my sleeves, and it chips off really easily. The rares are fine, the DimPris reprints have been a great savings to my wallet for Edison staples.
Bro I don’t even play master duel modern yugioh is so bad lmao 😂 🤣 go take your deck and play with yourself in the bathroom since that’s all you do with your deck anyway
Lol no one is mad you just randomly comment on this for no reason, you are bad kid and you will always be bad, I will even come by here tomorrow to tell you that you are bad and the day after that
Glad you enjoyed the content so much! It make me very proud to see it garnering so much attention lately.
2010 recap is coming??? I’m so hyped🎉🎉🎉
Check out th-cam.com/users/thelawygo who made this amazing Video!

The sub 😂😂 he knows the feeling of when the strapped tv and vcr were rolled into the classroom

those threatening roars at 29:23 also hurt glads, they need to survive an attack to tag out.

Substitute Schmidt!
I remember when I played Black wings back then and they hit this deck before lightsworn. Breh nostalgia as I realize how old I am
1:18:26 stygian dirge was very good in duel links in resonator format
And against the scourge of Harpies too lol, along with Heraldry Patriarch

You could try getting back into the game, maybe buy a couple Edison decks and teach your daughter how to play?
28:18 IF IT AINT PRO ITS GOTTA GO
Blast from the past. I remember playing these games in the world championship ds games

The ice barrier quickplay was game breaking in Nekroz format
1:12:26 there’s no emergency teleport in that list!!! How is it teledad?
such a great video

One of my closest friends got 9th place at that european championship with glad beast. Soo close
37:15 clueless
Sad we don't have Jump anymore
I quit competitive a few years before that date and missed the DAD era... probably for the best... XD
God I played the living hell out of Dark Strike Demise OTK. 2009 was so lit.
"it's a Dwagion uWu"
Has he reacted to 2007 and earlier years? I saw the 2008 react but not any others.
2005-2009 are all on my channel
i love this video. brings back memories... Gruß aus NRW
Old gold rares are unironically so much nicer. They have a rustic gold look instead of the cheap plastic-y looking new ones.
Gemini is sick. The only thing that really punishes it is Dimensional Prison. It's one of the best rogue decks in the format for sure.

The paper game is way too expensive for me.

Did the OP of that vid predict the "characters with glowing red eyes menacingly look at you" meme by 11 years????
Josh is definitely misremembering a lot of stuff a few years in advance with prices and reprints
first
Besides MGED all Gold Series were awesome, MGED had nice card but trash quality.
MAGO and MGED both were bad. The macaroni/cheap gold over the cards ruins my sleeves, and it chips off really easily.

@@wickederebus MAGO was bad for US, the EU version is fine. MGED was terrible for both.
@@-kaori I've got a Trickstar Reincarnation with the name printed 3 times, shifted down left each time.
