    The fact that you weren't sure at first if this was a new release or 80s says everything we need to know about the longevity of this absolute banger of a classic. Just one of those songs that we danced our butts off to back in the day.

    New Order are definitely worth checking out. I would suggest the tracks Ceremony, Temptation, Bizarre Love Triangle and True Faith. I always considered New Order to be the thinking man's dance music. If you would like to hear how they came to their signature sound, also check out Joy Division, as New Order rose from the ashes of that band after lead singer Ian Curtis sadly took his own life. Great reaction as always!

    New Order had a great bassist and used the bass almost as a lead guitar, just as they'd done as Joy Division before becoming New Order after the suicide of Joy Division lead singer Ian Curtis. It was part of what made them standout from most bands. They have a really good catalog of music.
    Enjoyed your reaction as always Empress.

    1983. Groundbreaking. New Order really put their drum machine through its paces on this one. They also dropped a remix of this song called "The Beach" that plays around with a vocoder and other effects. My best friend's sister liked the band a lot back then and used to play this song from her room. It would have driven us nuts if not for the superior synth work and tricky little guitar bits smuggled between the phrases in their music. New Order dropped many new wave pop hits and dance club bangers in the eighties -- "Bizarre Love Triangle", "Shellshock", "Temptation", "The Perfect Kiss" -- but I preferred the vibes of their album cuts like "Your Silent Face", "Elegia", "Love Vigilantes", and "Age of Consent" among others.

    @Marcus-Oh-really-yes 2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    New Order was famous for NOT including their song titles in their lyrics, hence no mention of "Blue Monday" in "Blue Monday, no mention of "True Faith" in "True Faith" and no mention of "Bizarre Love Triangle" in "Bizarre Love Triangle" (my favorite three songs by the band). :-) This brings back such fun memories of dancing with my friends in college back in the 1980s.

    ***WHAT YEAR WAS THIS MADE?*** ...letsgetTOOOOOiiiiitttttttttt..... released Spring 1983 (I bought my copy the SAME DAY as Michael Jackson's 45 of "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin' "), then re-issued, early 1998 ("Blue Monday 88"), THEN, re-issued again, Fall(?) 1995, for a remix compilation....
    It was covered by the Rave-punk Band Orgy, in 1999, and it's THE most popular selling 12" single of ALLTIME.....so, thereyaGO....ha-HAAA!!

    Hiya Empress and all
    This song is thought to be about either drug addiction, child abuse or a failed relationship.
    The line, "How does it feel? To treat me like you do," could refer to either the drugs or a partner.
    The lyrics written by the group's guitarist/lead singer Bernard Sumner, who copped to being (along with the rest of the band) under the influence of LSD while making the song.
    They were wired to their teeth and you could feel it in their music - you get an actious feeling in the bottom of your gut as you are dancing away the marvelous chemicals inside you giving you rhythm and the beat making you feel like a virgin, orgasmed sound for the very first time and the constant pump feeling though your entire being while you're throbbing your body against another............. Never experienced it lmao = but I was told by a friend of a friend who experienced that :)}
    You are correct Madame Empress they are British and it's a known that Monday SUCKS so much that it's in the British dictionary as:
    Monday in January, typically the third Monday of the month, that is characterized as the most depressing day of the year.

New wave/post-punk/dance-punk had taken over disco as the new dance music. We needed something new to dance to and it was fun jaja 80s and '90s We also danc3ed to R&B/funk, electronics, rap,/breakdancing, and freestyle music.

    Not my favourite New Order song (probably from over exposure) but one of the most important songs in pop history. A pivot point song, where new genre branches grew, or was it a flowering declaration? 🤔
    Either way, it is an iconic song in the history of new wave, synth-pop, EDM, Techno etc.
    New Order are an amazing band, always one of the "big boys" of their scenes, always cool, highly revered. Geez, I even love their fun, daggy, sporting anthem "World in Motion" (co-writen with Lily Allen's dad, Keith), their only UK number one.
    My favourite New Order songs would be "The Perfect Kiss" "Thieves like Us" "Regret" "Temptation" "World (Price of Love)" "Bizarre Love Triangle"
