Pam I wish you were my neighbour so we could share plants and tips. I love the Fall, and I do take photos and videos of my garden (mostly so I know where things are for next year and I am not digging up something I shouldn't) I leave everything in my garden and I don't cut back anything until May the following year and then I do a clean up. Thank you for the update on the Eden rose, it's going to be amazing next year. Those cosmos are so pretty, I bought some apricot lemonade and apricotta cosmos for next year. I plan on mixing the two together *from Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds. They have so many interesting seeds I have never seen locally. Enjoy your fall gardening.

I have the Apricot Lemonade too but I didn't think about planting them together, that sounds like a great plant. I leave a lot of stuff standing too, and cut back stuff that I am planning on moving or that is starting the encroach on other plants. I had to cut back most of my echinacea because of a mite but I normally leave them standing as I do love watching the birds picking out the seeds during the winter. (when they haven't been covered with snow). I am really hoping my plan for the Eden along the fence turns out well. I do love Baker Creek seeds too! Being neighbors would be so fun!

Sorry, I'm binge watching. Do you know if since the ground is too hard already to siw fall seeds if I can sow my fall seeds in the spring or should I wait til next fall?

You should be able to sow them in Spring as soon as the soil softens. I am assuming you are talking about cold hardy flowers, not the ones that need warm soil to germinate.

Hi Pam, how do you go about growing bulbs in containers? What potting mix do you use? Do you water them at all?
My bulbs always rot in containers.

I use a quality potting mix, EB Stones Ednas best usually but I have used Ace Hardware store brand as well. I don't water in the winter as I don't think about it and I suppose I don't get enough precipitation to cause rot. Here is one video I shared a couple years back: th-cam.com/video/tuYekyF_zX8/w-d-xo.html Hope this helps.

Do you have to lift your dahlias and other tender bulbs in your area? Bonny

Though I am a zone 8 and they are supposed to be hardy here any dahlias that I have left in the ground in the past have rotted so it just does not work for me, I must lift and store. I am thinking of trying to leave one container of elephant ears in place to see how they do but I will mulch it well with straw. You never know until you try.
