The UK used to be an island renowned for its various skilled craftsmen supplying the world with high quality manufactured goods. Sadly that's mostly a thing of the past now, but this razor is a reminder of how well-made the British-made Gillette razors used to be.
I received my Mühle R41 open comb today. The best double edge safety razor made. It is not aggressive. It is efficient. One pass. No blood. Quality and fit and finish his second to none. I’ve used a 34C my whole life and this new safety razor has changed the way I think about shaving.
My Grandfather, born in 1898, used a stright razor every day, untill he turned 84, then due to a bit of nerve damage in his right wrist, had to switch to a "Safety Razor"! He said till the day he died at age 96, your best shave is from a good barber using a sharp stright razor!
The Mühle Rocca is made in Germany and is identical to the 3One6 save for where and by whom it is made. I had an MG back in the early 70’s that spent more time in the shop than on the road. Bought brand spanking new, I finally sold it 24 months later with less than 12k miles on it; a lemon if there ever was one.
Thanks for the shout out. I love the razor too. I got it for $40, but I’m happy for those that got there even better deal. Mild but efficient with the right blade. I like the Gillette platinum and feather. Those pins hold the blades super tight
How about a whole load of Formula F1 cars including the Mercedes. Brompton bikes, by far the best folding cycle on the market. TOBS shaving cream. Simpson shaving brushes, Rolls Royce luxury cars. And, er ….
Don’t forget British Leyland; they’re gone for a good reason. On the positive side, the UK is famous for Harris Tweed, Church shoes and Barbour outerwear.
This is my one an only razor right now! Bought it as an official upgrade from my Walmart Wahl DE back in January 2022, and haven't stopped using it since. There was a slight learning curve on this one coming from my previous razor in terms of angle. You managed to grab this for $36!!!?? This bad beauty raked me $152.00 CAD. Well scouted, indeed.
Thanks Alexander I just used it this morning. Really enjoy it. The Bow tie RN found the deal and shared it with a Facebook group. I just happen to spend a lot of time on my phone to catch that post
Great video Greg, I been wanting a 3one6 for a while. Have you tried the meta4 by phoenix artisan accouterments? I think its a great razor also in stainless very smooth
For me, the Meta-4 is another league to this - it’s way more comfortable and one of my top razors. If there were only 2 razors in the world and the 3One6 was $1 and the Meta-4 was $3,000, I would buy the Meta-4. I dislike the comfort of the 3Onewhatever that much!
I just picked one up and tonight will be my first shave with it. Without having actually shaved with it yet, I can say it definitely feels to be higher quality than the plated die cast razors I currently own. Will my face survive? Only time will tell. Yours in Truth and Justice, The Night Shaver.
Nice score on Amazon. I missed out on that sale but found one on a BST for a great price and really like the shave it gives. Hot dog pins 😂. Great video once again.
Sounds like a quality razor Greg. If I didn’t already have two dozen razors then I might pick it up. I’ll have to borrow it off somebody in the future and give it a try. Great review man!
Ha ok the cars are bad. But England and most UK made items are well done. If you look at the clothes/tailoring they are better then most of the worlds, and even things like hair brushes and grooming tools they are some of the best in the world
Don’t worry Sheffield England is the Steel Capital of the world. It’s where all the different steels have been invented. The finest quality Steel in the world. Until the British government shut it all down because of cheap Chinese steel and net zero. ☹️🇬🇧

When this razor was announced and came out I hated it because it wasn’t a stainless version of the DE89 but I bought it to see. I hate it even more now because it’s not a stainless version of the DE89 and for me, it’s a bitey angry rough razor (for my skin). Undoubtedly a great razor for many but a horrendous abomination for me - why can’t we get a stainless DE89, one of the best razors available. Muhle did the same annoying thing by making the world’s most stupid razor in stainless, the R41 and not another superstar, the R89 in stainless. UGH!
@@10floz30minutes I noticed (and this may be a coincidence) but the very best razors for me like my top 5 all have close to the edge blade clamping. My top 5 are the Rockwell 6S 3 plate, Karve B plate, Blackland Era level 3, Phoenix Artisan Meta-4 and the Gillette Fat Boy, my next set of favorites second tier would be the Rex Ambassador set at 2, EJ DE89, Muhle R89, Merkur 34C, Merkur Progress at setting 2, Timeless .95 and .68 and the Executive Shaving Outlaw Mild (which is not mild at all).
@@DavidV4444 My thought on your comment is that clamping nearer to the cutting edge means the blade vibrates less during strokes than if clamping were nearer to the blade alignment slots/holes. This would make sense. My question then is, how can we be sure?
@DavidV4444 I bought it full price and have tried desperately to like it, but of my 15 or so razors I find it to be the most 'unfriendly' as soon as I put it on my face. if I were to ascribe it human characteristics I would say it is like a person who on being introduced to you says straight up I'm not your friend, and I will make any association with me unpleasurable. I have tried it with 6 different blades and I find it exactly as you described it, much as it pains me, bitey, angry and rough.
@@GregTardif I have Mercur 34C, Rockwell 6C, Rockwell T2, Gillette Slim Adjustable, Leaf Twig, Ikon OSS standard and slant heads, and Edwin Jagger 3one6 (en route from the UK). I guess it's time to start making shave videos.
It's a nice looking razor but there are A LOT of razors that shave better for a MUCH lower price. If they offered this razor for 100$ off the price they are gouging people and I don't like that. I own one and kind of regret it, though it does shave well. I won't be buying another EJ razor though.
@@GregTardif Indeed, I already own a couple of DE89 which are good razors at a reasonable price. Getting the 3ONE6 at 36$ is an incredible price that nobody should pass up. At 36$ it's probably one of the best values in wet shaving. At 136$, not so much. The 3ONE6 should be priced like the PAA Meta 4 at around 70$, clearly just my opinion.
Hoo boy, Greg. Some fightin words there. Jaguar Land Rover are made in the UK, and they’re pretty bloody good cars… And UK fountain pens (Onoto, Conway Stewart) are among the best out there. I hear ya. And I guess I wasn’t clear, I have limited exposure to British engineering just what the top gear guys say lol. And to be even more nitpicky mine is a de86 because it’s a black handle. The de89 is the chrome one. It’s a good one if you can get a good deal
Yo Greg. Just wanted to tell you I received this razor (EJ 3ONE6 - with the blue handle) yesterday and shaved with it this morning (using a new Israeli Crystal blade - as recommended by Sig Solo). Wow! What a fantastic shave! Jokes aside, it was probably the best shave I’ve ever had with ANY razor. The blade was terrific too. I’m sorry, there is absolutely no comparison between the EJ DE 89 (or 86) and the 3ONE6. The 3ONE6 blows it out of the water: a totally different feel and shaving experience. Thanks so much for the recommendation! And grab some Crystal blades if you can: they’re bloody good! Cheers. 👍🪒
