    Question? When I worked at GE years ago we only used RMA flux.
    My last company we used both RMA, no clean and two different types of Kestral flux. Clear types. I can't remember the number designations... Just that if left on a board, it would destroy the PCB within an hour or so, or so I heard. Have heard many bad things about no clean flux if left on a board as well and not properly washed afterwords.
    I'm still learning new things, but what are these different types of Flux used for? The harsher fluxes for a more clean alloy once all work to the product has been complete?

    amazing videos as always, you should sell a small ebook on soldering technique for hobbyists.
    btw, in your opinion, is 0.5mm 63/37 solder good for soldering cherry keyboard switches?

    John , a lot of us in the phone board level repair business have been at a disagreement as far as the methods of doing iphone 6/6 plus touch ic which i'm sure you've heard of. It got me thinking to ask an expert (you) and get your opinion. One of the main causes of touch ic failure is oxidation under the ic. Removing and reballing with leaded and unleaded solder has not really prevented it from happening again. Oxidation returns. Do you know if there's a way that prevents oxidation when replacing the ic or is it something that isn't possible to prevent? Also if you made an e book i would totally buy it

    I enjoy your videos but for someone who does micro soldering I don't see how these techniques could be applied most boards I've worked on ( smartphone) have components all mushed next to a each other and have little room to place the iron. I think there should be a new standard for that kind of hand work ?

    Thank you for the video, however I think that cleaning the SMD's leads with IPA and then touching them with finger's moist, oily skin is not the best technique - should have used second tweezers here.

      +rzeznicc - I understand your concern about transferring organic residues which affect solderability. I do a restoration cleaning and then a final cleaning which is very thorough prior to placement and it is only touched by a pic vac suction cup. No residue of any kind remains.

    it doesnt make sense to solder the smd component before you solder it onto the pads on the pcb. if you were doing repairs it would take you forever to do a repair
