Tacoma Winch Testing - Rope and Cable Failures

We ran into a problem testing the Hidden Winch System on the Tacoma- the winch ropes and cables continued to fail. We did not have this problem for the Land Cruiser, but broke (3) synthetic ropes and (1) cable testing. These were all "new" ropes and cables.
The solution: We purchased a 1/2" synthetic rope, rated at 30,000lb, for our 12,000lb winch. The winch line is tied through a load cell to measure the load on the winch plate and line, then to a tree with a tree saver. The truck is tethered in the back with a chain and tree saver. These are all items rated at 20,000lb+ capacity. This is done because a 12,000lb winch with a snatch block can produce over 20,000lb of pull force.
Note... it is unlikely you will need more than 6,000lb to recover your tacoma in most situations. We choose to test this aggressively to confirm you receive a heavy-duty, well -tested product.
