I have a compensating sprocket in my basement. I just counted it. It is 23 teeth. I would go the 24th though because these days you could always use more top end speed.. the ramps on mine are little rough.
I’m not positive where it came from but it probably came from my 61FL .
There is a fifth not under the kicker cover that you need to loosen also, did you remember that one?
I have sneaked on tight chains in the past I didn’t think were going to fit.
I used to have those old white leather mudflaps with the three reflectors also but unfortunately over time they ripped.

@Mr39knuck Not only did I not remember............I didn't know. I'll look for that one tomorrow. I also need to count the teeth on the transmission sprocket. Is a 22 tooth stock? Thanks for the info!!

@@SilverNutsGarage-di5ls the parts book lists 22,23 or 24 as stock. There is an order to tightening up the transmission mounting nuts and I believe the fifth nut under the kicker is tightened last and you have to make sure that it is shimmed so it doesn’t put on tension on anything when it’s tightened. I’m pretty sure that’s how I remember it. Of course it always changes the chain tension when you tighten everything up and you have to do it three times but that’s the drill.
When frustrations arise always remember you are doing this to because you enjoy it 😄.

@Mr39knuck I'm not much of a technology guy, and I'm not sure if you might be somebody I know that's involved in the Buckeye AMCA or somebody that's taking the time to watch a guy thats having a blast on this very cool journey. Either way, your time to educate and pass on knowledge is the beauty of TH-cam and technology. I thank you. Hopefully, I will see you on the road!!!!! Sooner than later....

Sometimes you just need to let a project rest.

I over the winter I might add one tooth tomy compensating sprocket I think that will give me less RPMs at a given speed
