    Wingman wanted a wingman. LOL yeah just picked up a surge about two months ago. I use gerber suspension and gonzo to outfit my Maxpedition bags, worried about losing it if I forget the bag somewhere. Thx this might make a nice Christmas gift for my dad this year.

    I've been carrying my Wingman as my EDC for 1 year and I have no complaints. It's always in my pocket doing a tag-team with my Micra which gives me a nice toolset for every day stuff. I particularly like the pocket clip for quick access and greater convenience.

    I don't think the cutting action is bad on the Wingman. I think it's limited to thinner wire though. Still, not bad for $25-30

    It cuts solid wire very well. Just now did it. I bought it because it was inexpensive and I've never had a leatherman and someone recommended them a while ago so I thought l'd see how good they are for myself without spending too much money. Happened across it at Lowe's. The knife is indeed razor sharp! I really like the spring action on the pliers. I had a multitool before without it. What a world of difference it makes!

    Lost my skeletool cx at work a few months ago. I have been bummed & lost w/o it. My wife just got me this WIngman for fathers day, & I Could not be happier. Especially considering the price as you said. If this 1 gets lost i know i can replace it for much less. Weight wise not much different, several more tool options, and over all it is shorter than the skeletool. This is a great everyday carry, and if i personally need more tool than this, i will grab my tool box : ) I agree with you about the blade length. Seems like a missed opportunity there... I think i will order and install the blade from the sidekick at the very least though, as I do prefer the non serrated blade. Great vid sir!

    I don't know of it is just me but I find the pliers lacking because, to me anyway, the pliers are slippery and because some of the tools stab you a little when you squeeze I would agree that if you are fortunate enough to buy one at a discount (I bought mines for 26 dollars) it is worth the price, but it us not worth the 49 dollars the Wingman typically sells for.

  • @LarsLondian
    @LarsLondian 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks for sharing Wingman115. I picked up the wingman after your first video about it. I do like it. For my use I wish it did not have the serrated blade, but I am checking with leatherman to see about obtaining a sidekick blade to replace the original.
    Take Care,
    Londian.

  • @redbird963

    I think the Rebar is far superior for being in the price point. Not as easy to deploy the main blade, but nicer overall.

  • @mattconklin4026
    @mattconklin4026 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    9 years later how is it still going? I just lost my sidekick since 2017, I've been carrying a blade now at work & it's not the same. I just went ahead & ordered a wingman! Can't wait for it to come. A Leatherman has always been under my roof 🇺🇲🤷🏼‍♂️ They have a great warranty policy but I just paid $70 for mine off Amazon 😆 but now I'm sad because I thought the tools locked open while deployed! Dang it Leatherman

    Great review. Got mine off E-Bay for about $24 shipped. I couldn't believe we hit on the same things with this tool. I also have a nylon pouch, might have been for a pistol; mag, fits it perfect and also will remove the pocket clip. Love the ergonomics in the hand, very comfortable smooth edges A+. I have not used the wire cutter. I really like the locking feature of the scissors and knife, and the fact you can open and close the knife one handed. Geez same as you I have looked and wondered why, Leatherman did not make the blade a little longer. A quarter inch doesn't sound like much but on a small blade very little bit helps. Great tool especially for the price. Very good review of this tool.

    I got one of these for $0. I found it near a lake, and apparently someone lost it, but there was no way to find them, so I kept it and use it a lot. A few pros and cons: The little box cutter thing works really well for carving fine detail in wood, and for finer tasks than the knife. The pliers are good, but if you put too much pressure twisting on them, you can feel them start to give. The file is works sort of well, but the grooves all slant one way, so it sometimes slips. The screwdrivers also start to give if you put too much pressure on them, and they are too fat for many screws. I don't know what the notch in the side of the Phillips head is for (reply if you know), but overall, I think it is a very sleek, compact design that is probably the best you can find for 30-35 bucks.
