The only thing that disappoints me about this great movie is he fact that GEOFFREY RUSH did not win an Oscar either. He would have deserved it as much as Colin Firth deserved his!
I am so sorry you did not win the Oscar for King´s speech, Geoffrey, you were so professional there, very human, witty and authentic at the same time.🤗
I just watched "The King's Speech" for the third time (in the theater and on DVD) and am even more impressed with Mr. Rush's performance than I was at the first. The DVD has an extra feature of listening to the director's commentary and the scenes with Mr. Rush are are profoundly moving. He can "say" more with a look than most can with a speech. He deserved an Oscar for his performance without a doubt.
He speaks Australian cultivated, a rare accent where an Aussie speaks correct English, not bogan (or common) Australia. I descend from a long line of middle class Australians so both parents and all four grandparents speak like this (I can do the accent although usually I just try and sound more neutral/common).
I Dig Geoffery Rush I like how he Presents his Chars and himself as well I enjoyed the Kings Speech I wasn't sure if I was going to like it but in the end I did I sure would like to meet him and thank him for being such an amazing Actor
@MrAlena86 I think it is "I am a thistle sifter. I have a sieve of unsifted thistles and a sieve of sifted thistles and the sieve of unsifted thistles I sifts into the sieve of sifted thistles because I am a thistle sifter." But that's also in the movie, you have to watch it!
J.Rush is such a great actor, in the King speech, he is brilliant, Colin Firth probably had hard time to compete, don't get it wrong, Colin Firth is a wonderfull actor and deserve all the best he can get for his performance
You Geoff have stolen me since I saw you 7 years ago. Mate, you are the best actor I ever seen after Sean Connery. You make me more prouder being an Aussie because of you presented Australia . You are great man and I have an Aussie father he is identical of you.
@MartinUnterlaa Yes, I think I should look at the original version, thanks for the advice! Movies really help - I watched a lot of movies with Alan Rickman without translation - is better than any exercise)) And Rush ... In the scenes where he read Shakespeare, I am very sorry that there are no original tracks ...
@MartinUnterlaa Oh, thank you so much!!! The fact is I watched the film, but it was completely dubbed in Russian ... And the tongue-twister, of course, is also replaced by a Russian one. And here - the original, and it's great!)
Probably a stupid question but is Geoffrey Rush well known in other countries? I mean he's a big star here in Australia, but I wonder if he's well known in America and Europe, etc. He should be at least, he's a very excellent actor. I didn't realize he was Australian for a long time, shameful as I live in the same city as he does, you'd think I know. I just assume you're always either American or English as a white Hollywood actor.
So him on stage a few years ago. Does not go for cheap laughs showing the tragic and the fine line to comedic or grotesque. Part of the Australian classically trained theater actors who have made the leap into international film carriers.
@MrAlena86 My advice is to try to watch the English original version. It might help you learn English a lot. Especially Geoffrey Rush speaks exceptionally well as he is usually a stage actor Shakespeare, etc…)
Some of the comments posted here are quite thoughtless. Khanate27 for instance: who on earth do you think you are to pre-judge anyone, moreso when you know nothing about that person? But even then, its downright tasteless.
Friends, please help! I'm learning English, could you write me a tongue-twister from this video? I do not keep up with Jeoffrey at this speed, but I really want to learn it))
SM TALKS I had several speech problems early also thankfully through speech therapy I became fairly Adept at speaking including competitive speech. I wish you the best with your efforts.
A fascinating and unfortunate aspect of this film is that it has very little story. Rush's character helps Firth's character overcome a speech impediment. Their wives provide moral support. Watch it for the acting and the settings.
Yes, he has a great voice, the timbre is easy on the ear, too bad he's not so easy on the eye. He looks slightly dishevelled, and grubby. Perhaps Rush is a little 'shower shy'. He looks as though he would have grubby habits and thoughts as well.
Very unfair, he is an artist not a hairdresser or office manager. Marvelous actor with a sense of humor about us and himself. Did you see the pianist, was that the title, about the musical genius tortured by his father ?
The only thing that disappoints me about this great movie is he fact that GEOFFREY RUSH did not win an Oscar either. He would have deserved it as much as Colin Firth deserved his!
MartinUnterlaa
Agree. He deserved an Oscar.
TRUE
what movie & which actors won instead that year?
I am so sorry you did not win the Oscar for King´s speech, Geoffrey, you were so professional there, very human, witty and authentic at the same time.🤗
He should have won the Oscar for this performance.
Seriously my favorite actor. Bloody incredible.
Nothing is sexier than warmth and genius in one deliciously disheveled package. LOVE him.
+Micki LeCronier My thoughts EXACTLY! You've got great taste :)
GR was my very first crush, after I saw him as Javert in Les Miserables ❤
Geoffrey Rush was the star of "The King's Speech".
He is the star in most of his films I think, one way or another. I love this man! But I love Collin Firth too. The both men are astounding actors.
I agree
He's such a fantastic actor. And he has a wonderful voice, too!
So wonderful to hear him talk

I totally agree with you.
I think this guy is my favorite actor. I sure love him in this movie.
Most impressive voice indeed! A lot of younger generation actors don’t have this sort of voice any more…
He speaks Australian cultivated, a rare accent where an Aussie speaks correct English, not bogan (or common) Australia. I descend from a long line of middle class Australians so both parents and all four grandparents speak like this (I can do the accent although usually I just try and sound more neutral/common).
What graceful hands...
One of the greatest films and actors of all time!
Brilliant man. Terrific performance!
I agree....he's special.
I Dig Geoffery Rush I like how he Presents his Chars and himself as well I enjoyed the Kings Speech I wasn't sure if I was going to like it but in the end I did I sure would like to meet him and thank him for being such an amazing Actor
If you love Geoffrey Rush you guys HAVE to see the movie Shine! He is INCREDIBLE!!!
Such a sad movie but his acting is so good, I keep watching
@MrAlena86
I think it is
"I am a thistle sifter. I have a sieve of unsifted thistles and a sieve of
sifted thistles and the sieve of unsifted thistles I sifts into the sieve
of sifted thistles because I am a thistle sifter."
But that's also in the movie, you have to watch it!
Such big words for a humble pirate like him.
He is absolutely an excellent actor. Loved him in Candy too☆
Great actor, great voice!
J.Rush is such a great actor, in the King speech, he is brilliant, Colin Firth probably had hard time to compete, don't get it wrong, Colin Firth is a wonderfull actor and deserve all the best he can get for his performance
i love his hair
Love how he looks like he could be anyone's slightly-crazy uncle.
LoVe YOU Geoffrey Roy Rush!
Genius. This is a perfectionist at his craft.
How did he make his voice go from this,to Captain Barbossa!?!
I still can't believe this was barbossa
it's cute how he talks with his hands
What a talent from pirates to the Kings speech
Let him talk for god sake... why so many interviewers like to answer questions they asked the guest.
Ah my favorite soft raspy void actor
KS was a wonderful movie
Cannot wait to see what he will be up to next ...
You best start believing in oscar winning movies mr Rush. You're in one.
LOVE HIM!!!!!!!!
You Geoff have stolen me since I saw you 7 years ago. Mate, you are the best actor I ever seen after Sean Connery. You make me more prouder being an Aussie because of you presented Australia . You are great man and I have an Aussie father he is identical of you.
he did such a great job as lionel logue
Interviewer needs to take a breath and allow him to answer the questions.
She's a bitch.
his voice O.o
@MrAlena86
I read that as from April 19 the DVD will be available. You might consider buying it
:-)
@MartinUnterlaa

I loved him as Ezylryb!
@MartinUnterlaa
Oh, thank you so much!!!

well i love his speech :P
Quit talking over him!
He cuts her off a few times...but not enough!
I agree, we want to hear the guest, not the interviewer.
Sure is!
i just got a post card from Geoffrey Rush!
Damn, i can't belive he's in pirates of the carebbian
I totally forgot he was in Guardians of Ga'Hoole!
David Attenborough's voice is great too
PS: seems to me Geoffrey is a very nice and a bit modest man! No “airs and graces”……
:-)
@ilovejimgordon Tell me about it! It's deep, booming, sonorous, and nasal at the same time. Kind of weird, but exceedingly distinguished.
Close your eyes and listen. Same voice as Rowan Atkinson!!
Probably a stupid question but is Geoffrey Rush well known in other countries? I mean he's a big star here in Australia, but I wonder if he's well known in America and Europe, etc.

Indeed he is! :-) He's won every Award presented in America to honor his very talented Acting Art, and he's recognized throughout the World.
Good lord could this woman blather on any more.
Look at his hands :D
"Working my way up the bird 🐦 hiarchy" 😂
So him on stage a few years ago. Does not go for cheap laughs showing the tragic and the fine line to comedic or grotesque. Part of the Australian classically trained theater actors who have made the leap into international film carriers.
how did this interviewer get her job? she should work in retail.
@MrAlena86

"I am a thistle sifter. I have a sieve of sifted thistles and a sieve of unsifted thistles, because I'm a thistle sifter."
American interviewers are seemingly incapable of posing short questions. It's maddening.
He had a minor role in Mary Poppins too
REALLY?!😳
Is this guy an Aussie?
Yeah dude, lives in a suburb over from where I live in Melbourne (capital city of Victoria).
i suspect that he is the voice actor of Fiddlesticks.
I am a stammer and have stammered from 5 years old. its gotten worse and I agree with him on the macanical wheels trying to turn but it keeps stalling
SM TALKS did the headphone trick work for you ?
Not really. So just living with it. Might talk to a phycologist or someone. Think its a deep rooted stammer from childhood
SM TALKS I had several speech problems early also thankfully through speech therapy I became fairly Adept at speaking including competitive speech. I wish you the best with your efforts.
TREY RIVER I went to some of the best speech therapy establishments and still not helped. Some days are better then others. Thanks for the good wishes
I think he sounds like darth vader
He seems so bored by this lady's questions. He's probably heard them all a hundred times.
On press junkets I'm sure that they have to answer the same questions over and over again
Hya
Correction *Voiced*

@shalithwick LOL!!!!!!
I really did not like the movie, but applaud Geoffrey's performance, he stole the show.
CAPTIAN BARBOSA WTF HAPPENED TO U!!

he's a gross creepo
