Three Trains in the Village

- On July 20th, 2023, I went to the West Barnstable Train Station & Museum in West Barnstable, Massachusetts expecting to see two trains per usual, the Cape Cod Central Railroad's regular excursion train being pulled by New Haven FL9's 2011 and 2026 respectively and the MBTA CapeFlyer, which was being handled by MBTA GP40MC-3 1138 and GP40MC 1137. However, to my shock, I managed to film THREE trains at the station that day, that one being the Mass Coastal's infamous Energy/Trash Train which was being handled by Mass Coastal GP7-U 2006 (ex-Atchinson, Topeka, and Santa Fe 2689). This catch was the rare and unexpected out of the others, mainly because the Energy Train usually runs on weekdays and not weekends, so this was pretty surprising, not to mention that this was also my first time seeing 2006 operating. As someone who's never caught the Energy Train in person, this catch was very special and exciting for me! Three trains in one day? FUCK YES! If you ask me, this was probably one of my favorite visits to the WBTS. In addition to railfanning the three trains, you'll also see me briefly ring Pennsylvania L-1 2-8-2 1520's bell at some point.
Special thanks to The Capital Region Railfan, who I met and interacted with while I was there.
Sweet video
Thanks, Cam!
I just realized the trash may run every Saturday but its just to bring empty cars to Yarmouth (from the cape railfans page) So u could see it another Saturday!
I don't think I'll be able to see it this Saturday due to personal reasons.
