She betrayed her father and has some sisters, but because of her betrayal, she was sentenced to forever living on an island by herself. Never aging or dying. Sometimes sailors or heroes would get stranded on her island and she’d try to convince them to stay, but they always ended up choosing to leave. They could always leave, but she couldn’t. I think that’s the closest parts of Rick Riordan’s story to the actual Greek myth. Hades kidnapped Persephone, so staying with Calypso would kind of be like being Calypso’s hostage in the way Persephone was to Hades. I’m pretty sure the song is from the perspective is from Calypso.
