Shes singing about the Oddessy, about Oddessius from the perspective of Calypso goddess of the sea.
She’s singing about Book 4 of the Odyssey. Odysseus is stranded on the goddess Calypso’s island after wandering the sea for years after the Trojan War, trying to get home. Calypso is infatuated with Odysseus and offers him immortality/infinite life alongside her but he declines because he wants to leave and go home to his actual wife Penelope. It’s only after Zeus intervenes that Calypso let’s Odysseus leave her island.
It’s taken from Homer’s “Odyssey”. (MoanInc has an awesome breakdown on her channel). The Greek hero Odysseus is stranded on an island with the immortal goddess Calypso yet yearns to return to his wife & child. Calypso is in love with him and begs him to stay with her, offering him immortality. These are Grimes’ lyrics according to Genius:

The grimes fanbase is the only community ive seen that takes stems of her unreleased music and competently produce the songs themselves; it speaks to a) the talent of these creators and b) the support and desire to find and have new grimes art, its so inspiring

@@ElvisismI’m not sure I’m answering your question but if it’s regarding the song title, to me, it feels like a Grimes-esque name for the story of Calypso. Hades and Persephone. She flipped the traditional roles from the mythology. And with the production, along with the lore that comes with Grimes, I couldn’t imagine a better title.

that's such a surface-level take haha, "wife" actually makes more sense. look up calypso. she wanted to be odysseus' lover forever, even going so far as to promise him immortality, but it wasn't enough to make him stay. she wanted to be his immortal wife.
