Hearing those names again brings happy tears. I also loved Larry Glick and those wonderful Christmas Eve music marathons. I lived in Acton, so we'd always hear ABRHS almost immediately on snow days! Best of all, on-air meteorologists "Uncle" Norm MacDonald and Elliot Abrams become wonderful colleagues many years later when I moved to State College, PA and joined Accu-Weather as an editor on the old building!

i just found a WBZ/WBZA radio time jingle record from 1958 at a goodwill here in Tucson, Arizona. popped it on the turn table and was blown away even though they are just reminders to check your clocks and make sure you have them dialed corrected.

I remember also Joe Green for decades giving us traffic conditions from the ‘BZ copter. No one could deliver us those reports any better. Too bad they don’t call it the ‘BZ copter anymore. Always some stupid outside company whether an insurance company or bank.

"stupid outside company"... c'mon radio has not been a pretty business. It's always been transactional between an advertiser and a station. The "'BZ copter" was a bit stupid for me as brand of a radio copter myself.

@@MinifigNewsguy no such thing as tradition. They called it the Bz copter from the 60’s onward until 2007. To me that is clearly selling out to the highest bidder. As someone who is in radio myself I hate corporations that literally sell out.

@@jimbannon6180 I am sorry. WBZ Radio was never locally owned, or owned by a regional company. It has always owned a big company, Group W for most of that time. t/f you mean by "no such thing as tradition"?

No mention of the immortal Glick? Fail.
