That was a stunning transformation. Your customer got a brand new, custom, yet beloved, Chanel tote for $1,200. And if you think that is expensive, look at the retail prices. Not to mention, Steve's construction is far, far better than vintage or current Chanel construction. You da man, Steve!!
No doubt Steve has a good heart and he's trying his best. But you clearly do not work with leather yourself, nor do you have any knowledge of the actual brand. Generally his construction is fine, but the lack of attention to detail (that Chanel has) is diminishing your claim that it is far better than Chanels construction has ever been. He did not even center the quilting. It was there, yes, and not a bad idea to put it there, but it was all over the place. He got the lines sewn pretty straight for the most part, to my surprise, because Chanel uses Quilting Machines to do that job. But overall 1200usd was definitely overpriced for a "sloppy" restoration like that. But as long as the customer is happy to pay this and does not care about too much detail it is completely fine. Just don't try to drag the brand itself through the dirt. They have insane craft people working for them that have just as much working experience as Steve. Remember there are REAL Craft People working for the big brands too. They all know their shit. This particular vintage style of bag by chanel does not go for much more than 1200usd itself, but I assume it was sentimental value or a sense of sustainability that made her pay extra for that repair.
@@KKJournals No, actually you please keep it to yourself if you can't distinguish a constructively critical comment from a rude one. I have commented on many of Steve's work very positively and he's done great one many other projects. However this one is clearly not the best of his work. It's sad that you are so shallow. If this comment already triggered you like this I don't want to know how reluctant people around you must be from the constant moaning whenever they criticise you in any possible way.

Much better than new! "Original Chanel" is only important to collectors, not users. This brings the bag up to today's designs. The chain handle pushes it over the top.
HOLY CRAP. It looks like a modern Chanel bag. Well worth the $1200 she spent- she could have gone out and purchased something new, but she saves a bit and gets something unique and can keep using something that's worked really well for her for another 20 or so years. I'm inspired to let myself ride the bags I love harder and see what a skilled craftsman like yourself can do to bring life to it in the future.
Who care whether or not the bag was updated, it sure does look better than it did before though and I'll be the owner is going to love it. Looks amazing, another Bedo Magic. Nice choice of the quilting. Fact is the bag looks way better than brand new!
I love watching yr video. Couldn’t stop watching especially when you repair the LV bags .I have several LV handbags & already out of fashion .You are like a magician ; change the Chanel bag into latest design! Well done .
It never ceases to amaze me, how, when these high end items are deconstructed, the junky materials used to construct it originally are realized. Nice update to the bag.
I've just work it out! My kids have given me a word quota. The fact that I thought "bagtopsy" was funny explains why. It's also why I like your banter and keep watching just one more Bedo's video. Dad Jokes! Respect to all Dad Joke aficionados.
I grew up in a small town that was known for the artisan boot makers. Several shops in this small town turned out custom boots that were old world quality, and the customer base was international. It's great watching an artisan in his craft. There were also an intalio metal engraver, a custom luggage maker, and saddle makers. Today, it's all gone.
I love it when you look at the camera and say “I can hear you”. Some 45:years I was watching Saturday kids TV in the living room with my pajama’s on, ignoring my mother’s various pleas and threats to get dressed. Suddenly, the presenter leaned forward, looked right at the camera and said “there’s a little girl there with her PJ’s on at this time of the morning. Go get dressed you lazy thing”. I was so shocked I dropped my toast. Mum couldn’t stop laughing when I fled upstairs. I refused for the next few years to get changed in that room specifically or any other room with a TV on. I have to saw that close up work and explain actions of what you are going and why is amazing! I like to sew, so watching you deconstruct, I imagine may help me with my construction.
Glad that you mentioned it was what the customer wanted. Makes me wonder, though, if the customer realized just how difficult this is to do - create a diagonal quilting pattern, especially on leather with a foam backing, as it's nearly impossible to do without puckers appearing somewhere on the surface. In this case, the pucker that stood out the most, was around one of the iconic "CC" initials. For this reason, I'm not in favor of the result here. However, I appreciate that you shared this video with your subscribers. It's all very interesting and informative.
HI, STEVE!!! I think it's still a real Chanel bag, just WAY more attractive and MUCH sturdier than Chanel made it. It'll last for years, now, thanks to you! BTW, you're looking especially crisp this morning...nice.
Hi Steve, I need to tell you something..... I can't remember how I found your channel but for about a year now it has been my favourite TH-cam channel....and then, just yesterday I was looking into my family tree and found out that my Great Great Grandfather and my Great Great Great Grandfather were Cordwainers!....my Great Great Grandfather being a Master Cordwainer!.... maybe the universe's energy sent me to your channel! Watching, listening and learning from you and your channel has given me a greater understanding of what my relatives work must have been like! Thank you 😁 let's continue 👍
Looks better than Chanel could have ever done. Your materials and craftsmanship are top-notch. I was watching some luxury experts saying that. The way they can spot fakes today is bc some are made better than the original, and that's how they can distinguish them. Isn't that just crazy? Well, once again Steve you knocked this out of the park.
What a great way to begin the start of the weekend seeing Bedo transform a vintage Chanel bag--your female fans appreciate it. The owner took great care of this 25 year old bag, and deserves credit for choosing to update it and freshen its look rather than just toss it and buy new. In our current throwaway consumer environment, that's nice to see. And the customer can now enjoy her bespoke Chanel bag knowing it's one of a kind. Love the quilting and the handles--beautiful job as usual (your Chanel restorations are my favorite).
One thing you may want to bring in to existence, Steve, besides using weed whacker line in the piping, which I now do, is on the corner curves of the piping put a line of the fabric nylon so when the leather of the piping wears out as it always does, you don't have that unsightly weed whacker line popping out in a string, instead you see the black nylon fabric, where you can repair the surface of the leather with vinyl repair or baking powder and super glue.
This has turned an old loved bag into a newer modern bag that she can use for another twenty five years or mor..I am sure she will love it ,if not more than the way it was before 😀
Another one! In my opinion, you don’t have to keep telling people that it’s not authentic this or that, you did an incredible job, you did what the customer wanted, above and beyond. I’m sure they will love it, and on to the next one!!
I love how you update and redo these bags! It makes them personalized for the owner. You did an awesome job! I absolutely love the bag. Who cares if it’s not original?! The owner is the one who paid for it.
Half asleep last night. Read title as channel makeover. First thoughts was “NO MORE HAMMER TIME”. Woke up this morning to great relief “PHEW” panic over. Now back to hammer time.
Maybe you should sew in a little label somewhere on the inside, maybe even behind the lining where it will only ever be seen when taken apart for a future repair, just so they know the famous Bedo's worked on it.
The thing is tho: he’d be the one repairing it in the future again. I mean... what sane person would send it in to anyone else other than Bedo himself?????? Come on... no need for a label.
Well Steve I must say you’re looking very dapper today, you have such a great imagination on how to redo bags, ,shoes and other repairs, it’s such a joy to watch you, keep up the wonderful work, very best wishes from Reading England 🏴 xx
