I got a Atlas Body here but I'm not that good like You at Painting and Your Colour is the Icing on the Cake. I try to copy Your Style with Wheels etc. and mix it with mine but I only can paint it simpler. By the Way, Your Truck is now my Wallpaper on PC. Thank You! Brian, I recently jumped into the the world of mini crawlers and stumbled across your videos. I have learned so much from your content and just wanted to reach out and tell you THANK YOU! Have you thought about starting a Patreon membership? It would be great to get more in depth content from you I.e. detailed parts list with links, member only live calls, more in depth videos. I know how much time must go into your videos, and it would be a great way for people to help contribute with a paid membership. Thanks. Jason

    I've avoided messing up the paint by laying down a large piece of super sticky super thin 3M clear packing tape. Then I glue on the magnets. The glue softens up the paint allowing it to shift and move. I've never had an issue since. Otherwise I follow the same steps you do.

    • @bcochener
      @bcochener  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This was strange indeed. Same process as all of mine, first ghosting. But, I think it was due to the curved shape of the hood and the mags not being able to pull together evenly. I have heard of another method besides tape I may try. Thanks for tuning in Miguel!

    next time you can use double sided sticky tape for the magnet mounting to the body. i try to never glue to paint because it can be damaging like you have shown if not way worse. nice build though, i dig it.

    • @bcochener
      @bcochener  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I just glued another set on a build no problems. So, this is due to the metallic paint layer (backing color) from what I have found talking with some other folks who had the same ghosting. All using gun metal PS paint. All my other builds with magnets have not done this - (black, white or silver backing colors.)
      I think it's too hot here to rely on double sided tape for that hold. It would heat up, soften and pull off. Had that issue before.
      --Thanks for the tip and thanks for watching!

  • @forrestcrabbe
    @forrestcrabbe ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Any chance the glue softened the paint causing the dimples? The paint on the hood looks good. I think I would've covered the dimples with either 3d printed turbos or exhaust stacks. Y'all have a badass day 🤘

    • @bcochener
      @bcochener  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It did. Turns out others have had that result with the gunmetal backer. Never had that issue with black/white/silver backers. Strange… but it did come out great on the end. Thanks for tuning in!

  • @Shane_S.
    @Shane_S. ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great job man looks great 😀I've had that happen on the last two cliffhanger bodies I painted. I was using gunmetal gray. I was thinking I messed something up until I saw your video! Beats me man!! Ill let you know if I figure out what went wrong. In the meantime carbon fiber vinyl will help mask mine.

    • @bcochener
      @bcochener  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hmm, maybe it was the gunmetal. That was my backer (light gunmetal). So strange indeed.

  • @alpinglow

    I'm liking these new technologies and ideas. I got out 100% of RC last year, SCX24 being my only experience. 1/24 seemed so limited. Was going to try the Gen8 V2 before throwing in the towel but just walked away and sold everything. Looking back these past weeks. Things have changed in the past few years. My interests were crawl, mud. I tried indoor but couldn't nail down proper space or solid materials. Paper mache and foam seemed weird, unnatural. Thinking wider, longer, low cg. Betty cab for sure. Could it be possible to do this in a budget build?

    • @bcochener
      @bcochener  ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh heck yeah. I should do an extreme budget build…? Now that so many parts are made by different companies, yeah you can find things very affordable. And heck, a lot of the parts I use are for color or scale detail… Not adding to the performance. I could take a stock one and make it super capable, but I have to love looking at it too!!!

    Hi Master . Can you answer one question for me . Where can someone over the pond get the motors that you use . As I can only find drone motors over here , are they drone motors or another type . Please help this unworthy pupil to reach higher hights in building the the best 1:24 crawler over the pond .

    • @bcochener
      @bcochener  ปีที่แล้ว

      All of these are made for 1/24 specifically. They are similar to drone motors, but the shaft is different on drones I think. Mofo RC or Furitek will ship to you. Can you find the Surpass brand there? They make a motor that is the same size as the Furitek Komodo brushless (I have used it in my silver and the gunmetal JLU builds).
