I added liquid gold leafing to the edges of my books to make them appear more interesting and antiqued. I just painted it along the edges with a small sponge. They look great.

You could skip the glue and use double sided tape as well, that way you can remove it easier if you decide to go back to the original dark covering. For paper you can use the folding technique that schools use for text books to protect the cover but is easily removable

Welcome to Arizona!! I can't believe It's been 14 years ago that I moved here from back east, I'd rather deal with the hot summers than have to go through the COLD winter's

Anyone on a budget and patient to wait try Dollar Tree for hardcover books. I’ve picked up books in the past with the uneven pages, not aged but still can work. I suggest buying the books when you see them rather than next time since books are there one week but gone the next, not consistent with inventory.

I like the idea!! I am so going to do that with a couple of books that i dont like the covers ON. And another cool thing would be those Iron ON fabric paper things. So you can print out the tittle. And totally remake the book covers if you dont want them to conpletly plain. Or make "fake" designer books 😂

how about using tea or coffee to stain the edge of the pages in your books to make them look antique?

The books turned out great. Do I use white linen or light beige linen?

Can you still use/read the books easily after you cover them with fabric? I’m thinking about doing this with my cookbooks!

Does Restoration Hardware have any of their books antiqued? That’s a little more my vibe than stark white fabric.

The lack of thrift stores here in Arizona is the biggest downside to living here. The problem is that this state wasn't really populated until air conditioning became a thing and that wasn't so long ago. So we're just now building up the population. This means that there are no old houses and barns being torn down. "Vintage" here means anything prior to 2000. Because there's so little the price is horribly inflated.
My mother has a friend who lives in Wyoming who owns a thrift store. They have the same problem that we do. So she takes a big trip to Salt Lake or Denver every month to find things to put in her shop. The markup is almost 100% and she can barely keep up with the demand.

I'm sorry that background was so distracting that I couldn't stay focused on what you were saying. Perhaps an instrumental without words and less clanging.

I don’t understand about covering books. They are so precious so why would you cover them

Shoshana Bloom covering a book doesn’t change the content.

When was the last time you used a textbook..or an encyclopedia? I have books on accounting that I found in a box of stuff I got from an auction...Covering them would be a blessing as they would then do some good.
