- ofc i know these aren’t all the parallels but they’re my favourites from the villain arcs. i’m not including the ones before they became villains. let me know your favourite parallels or little things you noticed in tangled the series!

Raps almost convinced Varian to not go down the path he was going, then she said it. She said "promise" and it pissed him off. And did the same with Cass and said "just wait" which pissed her off.... Raps reallly gotta watch what comes out of her mouth.

I kind of feel bad for her… Rapunzel grew up isolated from people… so her people skills are really stunted. AND the only example she had was a master manipulator. It seems like realistic consequences of Raps upbringing.
I wish these two had some closure as friends before Cass left Corona. I know Varian had a one-sided crush, which ended after both of their turns to evil, but after what Varian and Cass both went through, you'd think they'd acknowledge that they were more alike than they thought.
Yeah! I also wish we got to see Varian’s first reaction to Cass’s Betrayal, I know in Be Very Afraid he knows about it, but we don’t see his first reaction.
I also wish we got to see him saying goodbye to Cass.

Uh, just to let y'all know, there's a guy by the username, conrad5673, who's got a messed-up/incorrect idea that Zhan Tiri is a hero and Rapunzel is the villain. I got pulled into a lingering debate with him where I acknowledged facts whereas he never made any real argument to back up his claim, not beyond constantly/repeatedly regurgitating words he already used such as, "She is a hero and you should know that," "Figure it out on your own," and so on.
Just thought I'd give you guys heads-up in case he finds his way to any of these recent Tangled Series video uploads.

Everyone talks about the obvious parallel of not hugging Rapunzel back moments before their betrayal. But everyone also forgets about the other hugging parallel - the first Rapunzel hug post-redemption. Both Varian and Cass _initiate_ an embrace with Raps after they've officially cemented their Heel-Face Turn, almost as if they’re returning the last one she gave them. For Varian, it was after she freed her dad; for Cass, it was during her breakdown rant in the finale.
And also, more parallels! Associating with a bigger evil (the Saporians for Varian and Zhan Tiri for Cassandra). Betraying said evil and getting betrayed in turn (they had in reverse order, but my point still stands). Rapunzel saying their lives aftet they've betrayed the bigger evil and (re)joining the side of good.

You also forgot that they turned evil because of Zhan Tiri. Varian was evil because his father got trapped. He asked Rapunzel to help him but she couldn't because of the storm and the storm was Zhan Tiri. With Cassandra she shows Cassandra the past when Gothel abonded Cassandra and told her to steal the moonstone.

to be fair it could have workedif they weren't trying to make rapunzel right in the end...like it felt like they were trying to get rid of her so flynn to take the guard job...i kindof wish her motive wasmostly focused on protecting rapunzel since rapunzel still didn't actually know what would have happened. what was really dyumb was the motive ofthe ghost wish

I liked her arc in the 1st season, how they fumbled it so much 😭 just give her a true motivation and not a vague like "it's my destiny" bruh

@clarisacalderon9555, having Cassandra feel overshadowed by Rapunzel was a good character conflict for her, especially since poor Cassandra was Rapunzel's direct subordinate and for all the pretense of being "equals," at the end of the day Cassandra has to to do what Rapunzel wants. Rapunzel never fully grasps this and "unintentionally " ran over Cassandra's boundaries and often didn't realize the extent of the personal comprises Cassandra made in order to be friends with her.
I am not saying Cassandra was perfect, because she behaved in abrasive and inconsiderate ways toward Rapunzel that was not fair to her, but in the end whatever justifiable issues Cassandra had with her friendship with Rapunzel is glossed over to make Rapunzel ultimately blameless in their interpersonal dynamics, and ultimately in the right.
Same with Varian (though the way the narrative demonized his character to make Rapunzel look morally superior and "blameless" is far more egregious than in her conflict with Cassandra).
Ultimately, I feel bad for Cassandra's characterization during her villain arc because they took a grounded, straight thinking person (who was Rapunzel's opposite in a complimentary way) and turned her into an emotional idiot who victim blames Rapunzel over the one thing she had no control over instead of focusing on the other more justifiable gripes she has with being Rapunzel's friend AND direct subordinate. But no, she has to blame Rapunzel for being kidnapped and emotionally abused by Gothel so that she comes off as unreasonable as possible in her grivance toward Rapunzel so Rapunzel can be a total blameless victim in their conflict. Ugh!!!

Well, I agree with loving Varian more than Cass, but not by a lot. I like Cass, and I think her motives were stupid tbh, but you could see she wanted to stop, but saw no way back and thought that she’d burnt all her bridges. Also the fact that Zhan Tiri was manipulating her a lot, and that she *said* she didn’t want to hurt Varian when she kidnapped him, (she ended up hurting him anyways lol) so I don’t think Cass is heartless.
