Shadow Raiders - S01E08 - Blood is Thicker

- Someone has kidnapped lady Zera, the young princess of planet Ice. It turns out to be Blokk who wants King Cryos to choose between family and duty. If the Ice king chooses family he will have to abdicate the throne. Cryos and Jade rescue Zera while Tekla and Graveheart defend the palace with prince Pyrus and Femur. At the end, the Ice sovereign surrenders the throne to the army commander Medstar.

Isn't it hilarious that most of the main characters literally own whole planets, but do almost everything themselves? Friends in trouble, rescue them. Murder mystery, investigate personally. Need to go somewhere, pilot your own flagship. Drone damaged, king repairs it. They should all have their teams of
commandos, investigators, ship crew, engineers etc.
Well you have to remember that this is a kid's show made to sell toy's.

Well, one sometimes has to do everything themselves.
Damn mate! Say what you will about the animation and the plot armor the heroes have in many cartoons like this but you cant deny the fact that this cartoon can teach young children some valuable lessons. Kryos doing what he did in the end...thats a well written life lesson right there. Respect!
And he becomes King again anyways, because his successor AND his people respect him so damn much BECAUSE he took responsibility like this.
In other words, he's a good king, one beloved by his people.

Believe it or not but I`ve been reminded of Charmed S02 E21 - Apocalypse Not episode. Sort of the same lesson but obviously a different context. I highly recommend it as I recommend the entire series by the way.

@@firestorm165 Eh, Timer made sure they'd blow up. Detonator signals could have been jammed. Plus in case anyone found any of them.
At 5:07 Graveheart goes behind cover but his bigass back and his head are sticking out from it in full view of the enemy.

One word monarchs: Delegate. surely you have some special forces that can handle search and retrieval. Not to mention the bad guy literally set up a beacon in their main base thus eliminating the recon required. infiltration, retrieval and sabotage is their bread and butter
I was thinking pretty much the same thing but then the impossible choice premise would not have shone through. Still a good episode as allways Shadow Raiders.
Nice episode! However I don't understand why the Shadows guys aren't destroying the planets with their giant planet but still raiding them in each episode????
Lardon2 I can think of four reasons, besides the need to create enough episodes for the season. 1. The raids are meant to weaken a planet's defenses before the Beast Planet moves in for the kill. 2. Maybe the transit from one system to another weakens the Beast Planet. 3. Maybe the planet needs time to "digest" a world before it consumes another. 4. The drones like to play their food.
Simple. They weaken their enemies from within before going in for the kill.
In the second episode it's stated they are also measuring the other world's ability to defend. Rock Planets Attack Moons seem to be powerful enough to cause a problem.
It is a combination of factors really. The Beast is described as 'feeding on terror' in some way, so the raids help increase that. But more importantly the Beast has no idea what sort of defenses the system may have. It is practically indestructible, but that is no reason to be rash. Better to scout out things and disrupt any defenses that may be present before feeding. It is just sensical.
Another reason could be to prevent the other planets from learning of the World Engines.
i really suspect judging by mainframe's history of running into terrible luck. that there was supposed to be an episode between this one, and j'accuse. that had to be scrapped for time, or budgetary reasons. this is not the kind of show that would leave the reasons for an character leaving, and getting captured unexplained
I feel they should really built a device that prevents the beasts from being able enter there planets atmosphere -.- as this will keep happening.

Did Cryos ever meet Blok? How does he know his name? Feels like we're missing an episode with that.
Yeah they hadn't met and had no way of knowing his name. I guess they didn't think of that :)
Tekla got it from Lamprey's mind is the best I can come up with.
