Beautiful. I was an official West End Girl. Worked in HMV Oxford street when it was released. Best song ever. Now I live in Blackpool chris's hometown and saw them at Funny Girls before they played Preston. Was so excited nearly wet myself ha ha
This is a really nice cover version of the original track by Mot and the Hoople (given away by Bowie to them) - this one sounds more melodic with the orchestral arrangement. Btw, it's considered to be one of the best songs written by Bowie and, according to Lou Reed, "It's a Gay Anthem. A rallying call to the young dudes to come out in the streets and show they are beautiful and gay and proud of it" in the early 70's. That all means that this goes very well with PSB's "New London Boy" song.
I am really impressed with this version. Bowie sounded cool but another PSB spin on an all time classic record. Had this on repeat. As many people say. So very Pet Shop Boys.🌹🌹🌹
@@clivesimpson9877 just a personal opinion Bruv. I’m not a huge PSB fan so others will be able to judge better than me. Could be auto tuned and shoved his vocals up into an higher range.
It's a Mott The Hoople song. Bowie wrote it especially for them. Bowie covered it in later years but only live, (aside from it being on a couple of his live albums, obviously).
This has a very Bowie vibe on top of it being Bowie's tune. It's a lot of fun to think this being back in the 60s-early who were just telling everybody tune in, and turn on while asking people to just let people be themselves. Love this!
Ingenious synthesized Variation of a wonderful and iconic 70ties Ballad. I almost prefered the Mott the Hoople Version to the Bowie Version which happened seldom, because Bowie is so heavenly in all he did. Now a young Audience can rediscover this wonderful Song.
They realize that they end up classified as a group, that interests a particular community, distant from all of us who respected them in the decade of the 80s and 90s.
great version of a great song, i especially like the sequencer that underpins the whole thing and is left 'sticking out' at the end. (probably just me, then?)
Sounds marvellous, perfect alongside New London Boy as a double a-side. Honestly 2024 is a vintage year already for PSB.
Classic PSB's! love it.. could be the 80's again with how Chris has put this together!
A masterclass in how to cover a classic record and make it entirely your own.
They've HARDLY made it their own ! ..... Too much like the original
How do you guys sound so good after 40+ years? Amazing.
Answer: Computers
@@DronePsyche Apparently you haven’t been to their concerts or saw them live in recent years. Neil sounds just as good and does not lip sync live.
@marekzee I'm just kidding. They still sound great
@@DronePsyche Neil's voice has never faltered...... big up to them both all of these years on.......
Of they do AI it's over
This song is just perfect for Pet Shop Boiys! Really really cool version!

Great Song and Cover and Remix !💯⭐️
A very poppy rendition of a classic. So catchy! Brilliant shinny pop music.
a very deep sound, thank you, pet shop boys
Still has the hallmarks of a classic sing-a-long track but updated for the modern era. Grew up on the Mott the Hoople version myself.
Absolutely brilliant 40years still producing great music great cover bowie would be proud
PEt Shop Boy since 1984. D Bowie the universal friend from space to the earth. universal brotherhood from Bordeaux. FRance.

Doesn’t sound like Neil Tennat on vocals ?
@@David54W Really? Is this a conspiracy theory?

Late-60's.
This was originally released in 1972, and the 'Turn on, tune in, drop out' era is over.
Amazing cover
Love it❤
PSB just do this so good. Loved watching them at Koko lounge earlier this year too

I hope the next (and final?) PSB album will be self-produced.
You can see it in Chris he is somehow destined.
Planet Earth to David Bowie...
PSB Best!!! ❤👍😘😘🎉🎉🎉 💃💃💃

You’d think 💭 that a song 🎵 like 👍🏻 this would be around in the ‘80s or ‘90s rather than 2024.
Is that a question? 😂😂😂😂😂
no a statement, a declaration.
80s might have been a bit too soon after the original?
YIKES!
❤bowie

I'm gay, butt burning my Pet Shop Boys library after this one.
