Clone Wars Stop Motion 5
We have always known Jar Jar to be comic relief in the movies and in the show. It is hard not to notice that although he is very clumsy, he almost always saves the day. Maybe he is force sensitive? Maybe he is a Sith in the making? This film is inspired by canon comic “501 Plus One” written by Marc Guggenheim.
The Mimbanese Liberation Army struggles to repel a Separatist attempt at an occupation. The Jedi Council has dispatched Jedi Master Laan Tik to resolve the matter. Torrent Company of the 501st Legion and the Mud Jumpers of the 224th Division accompany Laan Tik to help train and reinforce the natives. Senator Jar Jar Binks of Naboo also joins to assist his fellow swamp natives.

The clones and Master Laan Tik are voiced by me.
Many figures featured in this film are customs.
Jedi General Laan Tik uses the Clone Wars Nikto Guard head and hands placed on a Clone Wars Kit Fisto body. The gauntlets are replaced with Clone Wars Obi-Wan (2008) gauntlets.
The clone trooper is a combination of Jet Propulsion pack Rex hips and belt. The lower legs are from Clone Pilot Goji. The torso and arms are also from Clone Pilot Goji. The helmet is from the Rishi moon battle pack clone. The face is from clone trooper Hevy in training gear. The helmet requires putty to stay on the neck whereas the Hevy head fits perfectly with no alterations. The Goji torso does not fit on the Rex hips and both are drilled and sanded down to fit. Small Neodymium magnets are used to hold the hips to the torso. The magnets are superglued.

Great work adapting that comic, this is awesome! It is also funny seeing Rex's behaviour and actions in all of his portrayals and knowing that Dave Filoni wanted him to be Alpha-17, because Rex is really different to Alpha-17. Rex is generally empathetic and cares more about people than the average clone, at least by the end of the war, and Rex is also bigoted against droids, Gungans and doesn't empathise or respect Separatists and can therefore be quite hypocritical at times because for all his moral standards he still commits war crimes and is casually racist to Jar Jar all the time. Meanwhile Alpha-17 seems to not know that the Geneva suggestion exists and isn't bigoted at all, he holds everyone to the same ridiculously high standard and Gungans actually fair pretty well in his tier list, and he believed that the CIS would have to play especially foul if they wanted any chance of beating even a small Gungan colony (and he was correct). Alpha-17 also doesn't pretend to have high moral standards and isn't a hypocrite at all, he literally just follows orders but in the most based way possible.

This is some of the best lighting I’ve ever seen in a Stopmotion, the effects are top notch, voices on point, and the animation as smooth as ever. Also, as a fellow impressionist (and clone impressionist) I thought you captured the voices of the clones pretty much perfectly. Excellent work!

LOL So I take it Mimban had always been a wartorn planet since the movie Solo opened up on the planet Mimban nearly 30 years after the Clone Wars.
LOL right! It looked exactly the same way in the Clone Wars comic as it did in Solo smh.
Essentially due to the environment of Mimban it prevents the effective use of air support, making battles static and it also means that it doesn't take much to ruin the landscape. This was done to make sure it resembled WW1 Belgium, which of course had a flat landscape which could be ruined easily by large armies marching over it and explosions impacting the soil.

Thanks! Took a while to get the right look! Details in the description but I used clone pilot Goji torso, arms, and lower legs. Jetpack Rex hips. Old 2008 clone helmet. Clone Hevy head. Had to drill in the torso to fit the waist and hips. Ended up needed magnets to keep the torso from falling off.

Thanks! I take pics using my iphone and StopMotion Studio. Then I export the clips to my computer and add lasers and effects in Adobe After Effects. Then I put all the edited clips together in Adobe Premiere Pro. I use Adobe Audition to record when voicing clones.

This was brilliant! As always your animation was top notch, your videos remind me a lot of Leo Legendary’s videos. The scene with Jar-Jar at the end with the sixth lightsaber made me laugh. Also, am I right in thinking that the 212th trooper in this video is a reference to the one who appears in the citadel arc and gets killed by the ray beam in the hall? If it is I caught onto it and I loved it!

Another great video! if you don’t mind me asking, what paints do you use for customizing? I’m trying customize a phase 2 Rex. Think you could give me any tips?
Most of my clones are white for now lol. I used some light gray acrylic paint to make them dirty. I paint some across cracks and wipe them away and repeat. Dry brushing helps a bunch too. Only paint I added was the blue on the blue clone trooper “Rolo” and the yellow-orange of “Longshot”. I just used some nice acrylics from the arts and crafts store for that. For my phase 1 Rex I was satisfied with his paint color. I used sand paper to scratch some of his blue stripes off and made him dirty with that gray paint.

What brand of acrylic paint?
MiniGuns 11 Golden Artist Colors C.P.Cadmium Yellow Dark for the 212th. Winsor & Newton brand for the blue. I can’t remember which color specifically smh can’t find it atm 😂
MiniGuns 11 The blue paint I used is mainly for phase 1 501st troopers tho! Phase 2 is much darker

Skeleton Sith Productions Thanks! The clones are custom. Rex himself is just the Jetpack Rex but with added ankle articulation from the regular 2008 clone wars clone trooper. The regular clones are kitbashed from multiple figures. I use jetpack Rex hips, Goji lower legs, torso and arms, 2008 clone helmet and ankles. I use the head from clone trooper Hevy in training gear. Dicer’s bandolier is from clone wars commander gree. Cache’s bandoliers are from clone trooper jek.

How do you do voice on clone troopers?
First it takes practice to get the impression down! I use Adobe Audition to record and edit my voice for when they have their helmets on. I use an FFT Filter with telephone preset. I messed around with it to make it more clear. There is a tutorial for it here on TH-cam!

How I can make good stop-motion?
Start with a story to tell! You can use mobile apps like Stop Motion Studio that have “onion skinning” that lets you see the last frame as you take another picture to help stay on track with movement. Use figure stands or wall poster putty to keep figurines still as you take photos. Sound is just as important as the pictures.

I would but then to have a consistent green stand I need to light it consistently with a lamp and then we lose the night scene :(
