I used to own one in 1970-72. Wonderful car, loved the window shade in front of the radiator. DSame color, how cool, easily beat MGB's and corned with the best.
I had a chance to test drive a PV544 in 1962. The car was VERY quiet and powerful for a small European car from that era. The ONLY problem I had was the blind spot created by the left "A" pillar, had to bend my head to see when making left turns. A shorter person might not have had an issue with the seat pulled up. A WONDERFUL, SOLID car!
My first wife and I had a 1964(?) 544S, with twin SU's and a tachometer. What a sweet, pretty little car. Traded it for a 1970 142S with OverDrive and fuel injaction, but it wasn't as cute. Cheers from the Pacific West Coast of Canada.
I used to see another blue one, but older model (from the 50s), with split rear & front windshields, during the mid-60s. I was a teenager student and every day of those 3 years of walking early to the junior high school, I crossed with that blue Volvo - either parked in front of the owner's house or just leaving home.

Love this Volvo PV and the Amazon as well, very nicely built cars. Used to see a few of them in Uganda during my childhood. I read in one of the car magazines that the B18, 20 engines were bullet proof. The PV and Amazon raced in the East African Safari Rally.
One of these was actually my first car. That car was so rusted out the fenders fell off . Fixed the rust and drove it for 4 years till I was done with school. It would start even at -40
She is a beautiful car, and I love that colour. Years ago the Volvo dealer we were using had a black P555 in the showroom. Asking about it, I was told it was a one owner car with a whopping 26,000 miles. The old lady traded it in on a new 242, and that the owner of the dealership had bought it himself. He was fair, I think. He gave you a brand new 242GL. Would still love to drive one
I came here to make that same question. Seems like everyone on TH-cam does the same. Waste of water because the dirt will rinse off and then go over the already rinsed parts.
Love your videos. All action. No horrible music or chatter. PLEASE PLEASE use gloves when using your detergents....will definetly not be good for your skin. Even a mask ......live longer healthier so we get lots more videos
Volvo had so many firsts, and this was an excellent car, seatbelts, Lombard support, crumple zones, just an excellent dependable car extremely well made, Volvo should never have sold.themselv3s to Ford.
I owned a 1961 PV544 that I bought in northern Maine, USA in 1972 while in the US Air Force. Drove it home to North Carolina a trip of about 1100 miles without a problem. Decided to keep it doing most of the work myself though I did pull the engine for a full professional rebuild. Unfortunately the '61 was a 6vdc system with cursed SU side-draft somewhat leaky carbs though if I refrained from using the choke it was okay but keeping them balanced was bothersome. No rust and all body panels were in good shape with a color, I think, of gray beige a kind of off white. As various sections of the car are washed I go oh yeah I remember that having repaired, replaced or adjusted this thing or that. Loved that old car so simply and well made though lightly constructed before Volvo engineers thought of safety. Thanks for the memories.
Olá bom dia a você, eu não tinha visto ainda este modelo de carro da VOLVO, achei lindo demais, e parabéns pelo trabalho bem feito na limpeza, estes produtos são ótimos. Abraço para você. 🙋♂️🇧🇷🚘
A friend of mine in high school had a Volvo like this and put Ford chrome reverse wheels on it because the pattern matched so why not? Looked pretty cool back in the early 70’s. I always thought it looked like a 48?Ford. I hope you thought to put a paper gasket around the wing nut on that air filter since it’s low enough to puddle water. Youwouldn’t want it sneaking down around the stud and ending up in the intake. That would make me a darn nice project! Good luck with it!
I read somewhere that the main bearings in the Volvo 4 cylinder were bigger than the mains in the old Chevy 409 V8, which was also considered an over designed engine, I believe.

I remember when these were new and being sold in the U.S. Interesting cars, which always looked like late 40's American Fords to me. Why do you wash from the bottom upwards, instead of starting at the top and letting gravity do part of the work?
What happens to the vehicles after you restarted and cleaned it. Is there any restoration happening or do sell them. Be interested to see further work done. I was born in 1965 and had a Amazon of the same year. Owned and drove it for 13 year's. Unfortunately sold it. Rhennie from ZA.
The engine in that car seems to have no compression, tried everything to get it running, have everything recorded to make a video but dont want to release it before its running.

The Volvo P1800 was considered "unbreakable" by automotive journalists. It used the B18 engine, it was actually "half" of a 8cyl truck engine!
Watch "Adam Bäckström Volvo PV ". Racing with an old car. He has but one pedal, and it is to the right-
The 5 cylinder engines in most 850s and S70s are in fact Porsche engines with one cylinder removed. A bit similar. Only the best stuff.

Nice looking ride. It is in great shape for it's age. Maybe you can get Vicegrip Garage to get her running.
I suspect that would be a long trip, from Sweden to the southern US. Fun if it could happen though. 😊

This Volvo looks like and VW Beetle with an engine in the front.
I can only imagine you tested that battery to assure it was dead before blasting it with all those fluids - right?

so few rusty, compliments, right a subject for recovery, it's a cost matter for final state
Why is the body bleeding!
Rust dissolving!
He does everything from the bottom up. That's backwards. You wash from the top down so the dirt doesn't run over something you've already washed.
Thats correct! But its more satisfying to start from the bottom when doing a TH-cam video.
That looks like my first car now have none or a home
My dad bought it at calls used cars they told him it was not worth fixing the damn crooks
Volvo
Hi, I have a question, I am looking for a dashboard for a volvo pv 544, year 1959, can you help me find where to buy?
Just curious what you guys actually do with these cars after finding and cleaning them?
Me Too!
What is that dark purple gunk with the second wash? Rust??
Yes! Everything is rust, small particles that the chemical dissolves.
1962? It looks like something from before the war.
The car was introduced in 1944 (PV444), modified model (PV544) buit from 1958 to 1965.
Lindo lindo....🤩🤩🤩🤩

Really? You powerwashing from the bottom up? Not so cleaver.
Its more satisfying to start from the bottom when doing a TH-cam video.
