    Thank you Pastor Doug. Excellent sermon about John the Baptist. Friends in the audience, there is no reason that your faces should all look dead and downcast. Show some emotion. Smile. Laugh. Praise God. Invigorate the speaker. Every shot of the audience showed soulless faces.

    I discovered: "His diet, purely vegetable, of locusts and wild honey..." CD 71.1 and "John separated himself ... subsisting upon a purely vegetable diet." CTBH 38.5 so probably something like carob beans, rather than insects. And his garment "was that of the ancient prophets" DA 102.1 "woven of camel's hair" CTBH 38.5 so not leather.

    Sister White says John’s diet was purely vegetable. So that means Carob.
    His diet, purely vegetable, of locusts and wild honey, was a rebuke to the indulgence of appetite, and the gluttony that everywhere prevailed.. CD 71.1

    There had not been a prophet in 400 years before John the Baptist… was Anna not a prophet when Jesus was born? Maybe I’m mixed up.

    John separated himself from friends, and from the luxuries of life. The simplicity of his dress, a garment woven of camel's hair, was a standing rebuke to the extravagance and display of the Jewish priests, and of the people generally. His diet, purely vegetable, of locusts and wild honey, was a rebuke to the indulgence of appetite, and the gluttony that everywhere prevailed. The prophet Malachi declares, "Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord; and he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers." Here the prophet describes the character of the work. Those who are to prepare the way for the second coming of Christ, are represented by faithful Elijah, as John came in the spirit of Elijah to prepare the way for Christ's first advent. {CD 71.1}

      You don't believe anything if Ellen White didn't say it. That's what keeps many away.

    I can't comment on the Amazing Facts Live but the guy with the glasses, hair that he gels it up high and back and can only button the top button of his jacket with his belly pushing out below that. Now I describe him because he's on AF Live this morning of Dec 10, 2022 right now so you know who is a very pompous and obviously is prejudice 🙄 towards any church member that doesn't come in person and has said rude things to but then he barely ever welcomes those that watch online that are close to far and wide! He's not so nice which sadly shows most all times he's speaking on stage 😢 😪 😕 😞

      Some people like chocolate covered ants. John the Baptist preferred locusts with honey. Of course they would have to be cooked...
      If I'm not mistaken grasshoppers and locusts are listed in Leviticus as clean meats...
      (Edited to add): Beetles too - Lev. 11:22

      Yes, grasshoppers🦗are clean insects. I recently learned that grasshoppers are plant-eaters. Swarms of locusts hv been known to cause famine. Even in smaller numbers, the insects can be serious pests. They are used as food in countries like Mexico n Indonesia. Just a month ago or so I visited a Candy Store that sold candied grasshoppers. The ingredients were: salt, olive oil n grasshoppers. 😋Beetles of any kind are not clean. Leviticus 11: 22 ‘These of them you do eat: the arbeh-locust after its kind, and the solam-locust after its kind, and the ḥargol-locust after its kind, and the ḥagaḇ-locust after its kind.
      Bon appetit!

      Locusts could also be the locust tree aka carob bean pods. Which is what I tend to lean toward. Based on at least a couple things.

    • @davidstarr6604
      @davidstarr6604 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@JulietteSasek Except the word "locusts" in Matt. 3:4 and Mark 1:6 is the Greek word "akris". It specifically means "a locust, particularly that species which especially infests oriental countries, stripping fields and trees." It is clearly the little hippity hoppity bug.
      Pinch off the head and legs, roast the body, dip it in honey and enjoy!!! At least John the Baptist considered it a healthy diet. Crunchy too. Not sure if I could eat that. Would have to PRETTY hungry....

      @@linak7155 Which version of the bible are you using? The KJV Lev. 11:22 says "Even these of them ye may eat; the locust after his kind, and the bald locust after his kind, and the beetle after his kind, and the grasshopper after his kind." Of course the word "beetle" here in the Hebrew is "ḥargōl" ("a kind of locust, a leaping creature"). Lev. 11:22 is the only verse in the bible that contains the word "beetle".
