Singing a closed e vowel in a belt/mix belt is very hard. To make it easier on her voice and modifying the vowel to an open vowel make it easier to hit the note and less strain on her voice

I feel like the reason she used struggle is cause she'd start in a very narrow e and try to open it up as she accents instead of opening up from the start which she started doing later and it clearly helped lol

Yeah she hits e vowels the technical way with an open mouth and a bit more spread. Closed e vowels are much harder to hit and not fall flat on
