Burning Crusade probably had one of the most unique soundtracks I've ever heard in a game. The mixture of fantasy, space ambient, and scifi themes in this track prove my point.
That's Matt Uelmen for you. Sadly, Burning Crusade was the last game he ever worked on with Blizzard. And before that was Diablo 1 and 2 that he composed. He is nowhere to be seen on Diablo 3, and its' soundtrack very much reflects that and you can clearly hear the lack of drums / percussions and dark fantasy / asian themed ambience. Instead you get the usual symphonic approach of Blizzard. Which is good and all, but doesn't fit Diablo's spirit at all. Jason Hayes is also almost completely out of the picture on Blizzard's compositions. He was the lead composer of Vanilla WoW, composing almost all the zone tracks on it as well as the city themes such as Stormwind and Ironforge. He was imo the best composer Blizzard ever had, but after Vanilla you barely ever heard his music again. Recently you can hear his brilliant composition works in the DotA 2 Main Theme. Valve definitely wanted that majestic fantasy feel of his style and dota being related to Blizzard and Warcraft, his composition fits DotA 2 perfectly.
Callum Martin Yeah he has a few, but he was only a lead composer once for Blizzard, which was Vanilla WoW. Which has the best music in all of WoW, imo. Just the things on that list you linked there. That's all the best stuff, pretty much.
You can't deny that Blizzard still has one of the best music in games. WoW and Heroes of the Storm got some really good tracks. But yes, this track alone is defining for the Burning Crusade game. Dark, sad, with a hint of hope but also not knowing what lies ahead in this broken, desolate land. As an wannabe artist, I find the landscapes of the zones equally outstanding, for being a broken world, blizzard really went deep with the colors of the canvas for each zone.
there are a lot of heart-breaking things about this. For what there once was, and will never be again. (Discounting WoD.) Also, on a real life note, how much better life was when this game game out originally, as opposed to how it is now.
BronzNazareth by the by, y'all really owe to yourselves to play Path of Exile if you don't already. That is of course, if you liked the dark and Gothic Diablo & D2 universe. The only thing that sucks about PoE is the long breaks in between league seasons :(
+BronzNazareth This is a very great suggestion for any former WoW player. This game filled my formerly dead passion for video games. It has all the addictive little things you need in a video game and even better it requires some help from teammates. The social part of the game and all of the amazing gameplay it has to offer really reminded me of my video game addiction back when World of Warcraft was in its prime. Go to sleep dreaming about it, wake up immediately wanting to play. I miss those times so much Path of exile is *the* new World of Warcraft for the time being folks. I don't think another MMO is going to come out to challenge WoW in quite some time.
It was hard to swallow the idea that your equipment from a shattered alien world filled with demons and maniacs was somehow significantly less powerful than Eskimo fur scraps and loose metal plates salvaged from a backwater tundra once arriving in Northrend.
Well from a lore perspective the outland gear would be better, but from a game perspective it needs to be weaker, or else you won't experience your character evolve.
TBC soundtrack and particularly this song, makes you feel like you are in an uncertain land, a land you don't belong and you are soaking in all the emotional pain from the natives (including the moths). everything is calm around you but the place has a deep dark secret beautifully heart-wrenching, masterpiece!!!!
Matt Uelmen composed this masterpiece. It reminds me of the Diablo series. Maybe that's because he also made the music for Diablo and Diablo 2 😁 He's a genius
When I look back on WoW's expansions... TBC is the one that stands out the most for me. So many new features were added. Two new races, and entire world to explore.. Oh and flying mounts! And it was the period of time in the game when I was most active. I have great memories before and after TBC, but TBC was when I was doing my dailies, raiding, doing pvp with nothing holding me back.. Back before real life responsibilities took over. So this music represents a pretty special time in my life, and it evokes an emotional response nearly every time I hear it.
I remember the huge Saturday night PvP all ins out the front of Shattrath. I would stand unflagged with my little sister on her laptop next to me and watch the mayhem ensue. Great memories.
I nearly cry every time. I think this is one of the most emotional and unique pieces in this game. It almost seems out of place. In a good way. Like all the other music kind of takes a back seat to this in my opinion. I am so happy they didn't remove it or try to do a crappy remix of it in WoD.
I love how all the Outland music is so closely related. This is like a darker, brooding version of the Nagrand music, mixed with some Hellfire bits. Stunning
Came here after listening to Diablo 2 OST, you can definitely spot many similarities in some tracks. In any case TBC's music is a lot more atmospheric imo but it's worth checking out if you like the feel of the music.
My favorite song in all world of warcraft, incredibly nostalgic in the days where the game seemed to be taken seriously by anyone playing. Where setting up a dungeon or raid took hours. In those days people weren't just wow friends. They were REAL friends that you cared for. I miss good old WoW Vanilla and BC....
Don't know about that real friendship part, since, like you said, it was the game that most would take seriously and not the fellow players. But, in any case, those who truly tried to be real friends they should still be like that... they probably just quit, though :/ hopefully doing something greater. Or, you know how it is, they're scattered and not that big in numbers too. On the bright side? they're not extinct ...yet o_O
Ha! Well, since I returned here and decided to read some comments too (didn't remember I'd posted this -- just trying to sleep and wanted to get bored/soothed): I've actually made new friends! So, our own age (and the good ppl who aren't playing anymore) aside, the only difference is the game, yh. Firstly, it just doesn't really feel like a game, and I've been trying to play it "alternatively", not caring about gearing and all endgame stuff (guess what, it doesn't work out how you want to when you're doing it pretty much alone... I blame the players for its state, almost as much as the company, for making it feel like a job in that you have to do this and that in order to progress and not feel left out/behind). Secondly, the world just doesn't feel so vast anymore, there isn't any danger around the corner that can truly surprise you (btw, playing games like noobs is missing, now everyone is a pro and this has also created silly expectations/demands and more toxicity/drama), and you can do sooo much but few don't feel empty. Well, that's all; I hope what I typed makes sense and is cohesive enough, cause I'm basically asleep right now, lol :p
Around 0:40-1:25 totally goosebumps. I remember how often i take a break in terokkar to listen to this epic music. Music in Nagrand is great too :) So long ago this epic times, it seems like its damn long ago, This game was fantastic many many years ago, before blizzard starts to fail :/
Those are probably the best 120 seconds in the whole WoW soundtrack, which I respect deeply. It's the combined use of Organ and Melotron sounds that make it so melancholic.
It tells the story of Terokkar, in a way - it starts off very grand and majestic, then the high notes are very melancholic and tragic towards the end. When you go to Talador and see the zone as it was, it really hits home. Nice touch that they added it in.
The beginning of this song truely moves me. The first time I heard this flying through the forests of terrokar was with the quest with the vicious moths. At the moment the music hit its long deep note I was floating over this seemingly endless and mysterious forest surrounded by unfamiliar creatures and a feeling of adventure and wonder came over me. Only a few other zone pieces have stirred that same emotion and I must say that I wish Blizzard would take the time to really orchestrate their zon
So many hours(days) farming for Warped Meat, so many hours(days and weeks) listening to this song. Its been with me since I first entered the area in 2007. Such a beautiful piece.
I remember lvling my warlock 3 days after tbc came out, I always listened to the music while lvling, I never had "normal" music playing while I was in tbc, cause of its awesome scenery and the incredible music. When WOTLK and Cata came out, it was different, something was, simply missing.
One of my absolute favorite bits of music from the entire WoW series. It brings back memories all right - 2am sessions flying through the trees on my way back to Shattrath. 3.20 to 5.15 is the best part.
Even though I never got the chance to play TBC or WotLK I always get nostalgic of these masterpieces. Idk why I always get nostalgic of stuff I've never experienced.
Loved doing these dailies. Was the first in my guild to have one of those stingray flying mounts from the exhalted rep =) Great music in this zone - never got old. Still doesnt. RIP TBC
This is super similar to a score from Silk Road Online it was around level 50 odd but I absolutely love it in both forms. Some of the most hauntingly beautiful music I've heard in a game.
Why would anyone want emotional ambience like this which torns into your soul when you can listen to the remixed trumpet oompah oompah theme of Varian Wrynn for the 2nd expansion in a row?!? Oh, wait...
Having the opportunity to have WOW begin with your childhood at around 10 and going forward, was the best thing ever. BC had to be closer to my middle-school days but the nostalgia from this music...is.... astronomical. 95 was a golden year of birth for PC gaming. My brother was 85 which was just as good .
5:32 will always put a chill up my spine. The bare ruins of auchidoun with undead scattered everywhere. Playing this when i bought LK @ 16. 10/10 immersion like nothing else
@Olebola Whaaaat?! Not even the absolutely gorgeous Grizzly Hills?? I swear that zone embodies perfection. And just when I thought Blizz couldn't make any better music, I heard the new night music of the Northern Barrens... I nearly cried.
what i love is how similar peoples perspective on this music is (those who love it) experience for me was how the light came off the trees and how if you fly all the way up into the sky the sunlight gets brighter and brighter. pure nostalgia. what makes this particular ambient piece so great is its such a slow build up to a beautiful explosion. worth the wait everytime
oooh boy this music brings back so many memories. i leveled 4 alts from 60 to 70 and i spent as much as i could in terokkar. amazing place, amazing music.
Such beautiful zone music. Many times, late at night while questing/farming, I'd just lean back in my chair, stare off into space, and exist while it played in the background.
I love the grand, almost horrific quality to the music that plays in the forest, and then the Bone Wastes music towards the end of this video is just chilling.
I have almost no way to reconnect to my guild mates I spent days upon days with. Outside of leaving a comment on one of our raid videos, which has not seen a response for over a year. I still remember everything about these people and miss them
It makes sense to me that the guy who made this, Matt Uelmen, also did the Diablo 2 soundtrack. I can feel the same mind that made the Tristram theme making this.
dude, no way. Stick your head out of the nostalgia waters. Talador is great. And it's meant to feel diferent. After all, it's the story of what happened before
Holy shit, so much nostalgia. So many great memories popping up from TBC right now. I used to think it was an 'okay' expansion, but I was wrong. Fantastic times were had here!
The part from 3:15 to 5:20 is one of the most beautiful excerpts of music ever crafted by humanity. It makes me feel like I would with Beethoven, or Franz Liszt, or Wagner... mankind may be imperfect in many aspects, but when true geniuses delve into the world of music, perfection comes out. Brilliant song, congratulations Blizzard and its musicians.
my first exp in WoW was a warlock human doing nothing but quests, ignoring guild propositions wearing the pretty looking clothes, badly gear'd reading all quests finding meanings listening to music, no professions no gold no flying mounts i was so natural busy questing, finding friends along the way, excited to see them logged, always dying and watching cows undeads and others destroy goldshire, aaaahhhhh good times sir
Because not everyone has the time to play the game full time. It gives players with commitments and jobs a chance to experience the content. Normal modes and hardmodes are still available for the more hardcore and increased item level and mounts ensures they're rewarded for it.
The things I always remember about BC was first everyone level, then it was amazement of how nice Zangar look, and then it was the music of Terrokar, and then it was the nice looking zone called Nagrand. 3:30+ has been stamped in my mind, but for some reason I always think of Nagrand when I hear it. I sure do miss those days.
really late reply but I feel exactly the same way,I play burning crusade only the trial version and I loved questing and I felt really involved with my character.Years later when I met people who played WoW cataclysm was about to come out so I started playing. When I played I played as if the game never changed,I would imagine I my questing meant something to the people I helped.Leveling my 3 other 85's weren't nothing.... I got them all max level in less than a week.
So strange how there are some areas within a zone that in no way resemble the rest of the area. The music for the forest in Terokkar is astonishingly different than the music in the Bone Wastes, therefore they both look different and have a different feel. Well done Blizz.
Am I the only person who enjoys the beginning of the soundtrack more than the part at 3:00? The first song sounds like a majestic, exotic, rainy, beautiful forest, while the second part sounds like a remix of the Alliance hub music. It's great too, but I think the first song is better.
the part around 3:50 reminds me of the times id be on my mount lvl 60 something headed towards shadowmoon valley and all the beautiful scenery is showing up. down the path with my mount and we dont know whats ahead.
Alongside Tracy W. Bush, Russell Brower, Derek Duke, Jason Hayes, Glenn Stafford who are all fucking awesome composers as well. You can hear a lot of Diablo ambiance which would indicate signs of Uleman's work in this amazing piece.
The music brings you back to game.. I quit, but then I started again because of the incredible music.. The essence of WoW is all in it's music. And yes I am a lorenoob lol
I doubt anyone here saw/remembers the 80s film The Dark Crystal. Since zone always reminded me of it from the first time i set foot in it. The Arakkoa are an obvious homage to the Skeksis, but also the music. Something very 'Dark Crystal-esque' about it. it's grim, dark even, but magical also.
Ahiba Sabala Not that I know of. The new outland is for 90 - 100 only. The original outland will still be there for leveling between 6 and 70. The new one is going to be far differant since it happens before the world was torn apart.
Anyone got a list of all the game songs he did? I don't see it on en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matt_Uelmen EDIT: found a list here wowwiki.wikia.com/wiki/Matt_Uelmen
I keep going to Terokkar Forest just to sit under a tree and listen to this.

Because not everyone has the time to play the game full time. It gives players with commitments and jobs a chance to experience the content. Normal modes and hardmodes are still available for the more hardcore and increased item level and mounts ensures they're rewarded for it.
this music made grinding skyguard rep so much better
Heard this music for days, when i was farming my nether ray reputation for the Sha'tari Skyguard. Music kept me going those long hours.
Bring back old wow, i miss it so much.
They are
3.25 yes.
Simply majestic
Amazing
hell yeah man exactly. you know i sometimes wonder what became of my friends i made on wow who no longer play.....
cant we all just get along and listen to the music??? sheeeesh! :O
This music is so damn good mannnnnn
The best music in all of wow imo. It's missing my favorite track here though (Forest Walk Uni 02). The one with the sitar.
I like both equally. Terrokar's soundtrack as a whole is the peak of WoW's ambient music.
I like the part at 3:00 but I think the first part is a good build-up to it.
agree, with 4:18 being the capstone
yeah
Nah, I really get the chills at the first part. That orcherstral part with 2-3 chords is amazing
the part around 3:50 reminds me of the times id be on my mount lvl 60 something headed towards shadowmoon valley and all the beautiful scenery is showing up. down the path with my mount and we dont know whats ahead.
Huge shout out to Composer Matt Uelman for creating this masterpiece
Alongside Tracy W. Bush, Russell Brower, Derek Duke, Jason Hayes, Glenn Stafford who are all fucking awesome composers as well. You can hear a lot of Diablo ambiance which would indicate signs of Uleman's work in this amazing piece.
The music brings you back to game.. I quit, but then I started again because of the incredible music.. The essence of WoW is all in it's music. And yes I am a lorenoob lol
I'm sad they ruined Talador in WOD.
Terokkar forest had a real magical eerie feeling to it.
I like Talador, It's good to see it was full of life before.
what? Talador is the best zone of wod imo
what? Talador is the best zone of wod imo
@@voiavictor Talador sucks noob
@@voiavictor cant even be compare to Terokkar Forest
me too. that was one of my favorite experiences in the whole game. grinding at its finest.
03:23, aun se me pone la piel de gallina 🤩 eramos felices y no lo sabíamos, que wenos tiempos, aguante world of warcraft burning crusade🌌
Oh wow how i miss this game..
Sometimes think ti restart ... but - no :(
The feeling is gone and every.magic..
BC was the absolute BEST expansion pack of them all
You have the ancient Broken and the immature, power hungry Blood Elves who's presence is not appreciated very much.
Might have to resubscribe (after almost three years away) and level another character in Outland before its overhauled for Warlords of Draenor.
Don't worry, they are not changing Outland. The 90 - 100 Outland will be a completely new area. The 60 to 70 Outland won't be touched!
Oh, cool! That's good to know and thanks. I was afraid they were going to totally and forever gut it like they did Azeroth for Cata.
It's being overhauled? This might sound silly, but i really hope they don't remove the music.
Ahiba Sabala
Not that I know of. The new outland is for 90 - 100 only. The original outland will still be there for leveling between 6 and 70. The new one is going to be far differant since it happens before the world was torn apart.
its not getting overhauled
@BlueSharingan01 It was Matt Uelmen, I believe, but ufortunately he does not work for Blizzard anymore. He wrote most of music for the TBC soundtrack.
Belíssima trilha, indicada por um grande amigo! Emocionante!
Amazingly beautiful score, pointed by a great friend!
This music really takes me back.
All credits goes to MATT UELMEN for the making of this music -_- Edit the description pls
Fucking right
Matt was the master
Anyone got a list of all the game songs he did? I don't see it on en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matt_Uelmen
EDIT: found a list here wowwiki.wikia.com/wiki/Matt_Uelmen
I'm probably late, but I really wonder, if there any videos about how they created music for Burning Crusade or maybe some interviews at least?
