Jeff, thanks for the video. Jumping in the air is only necessary if the ball is above your strike zone and you want to power it through with topspin. I do this but sometimes I will choose to stay on the ground and hit a flatter ball. It all depends on what my intent is. Thiem is only practicing so makes sense that he is hitting topspin with topspin to maintain a rally.
Thanks again Jeff for the detailed analysis! And as you mentioned the finish is so important, above the left shoulder and catching the racquet at the end. I have put it into practice and notice a huge improvement in the power and consistency! Never thought that the finish would have a greater impact than the earlier steps...Thanks for stressing it over and over again! My only challenge is remembering to do it all the time...getting better though : )
Great analysis. My first lesson "the only reason the ball goes into the net is because you didn't get under it enough." Every time I hit a ball into the net I tell myself "Get under it!" Doesn't happen again.

With an eastern grip, what will the string bed face in follow through? You mentioned it’s not going to look like Theim. Can you elaborate a bit more? Thanks 🙏
Jeff, amazing video, as always. My only concern is that how long is he going to have his wrist? If a rec player would hit like this, injury is guaranteed.
Love Thiem I think he can win all the slams because he has an incredible game and he's not too tall which I think is a hindrance to elite top 3 tennis. Every body disagrees with me. Great video of my new favorite player.
@@TennisEvolution Agreed, he does have a weaker slice than I thought, you can't win Wimbledon without keeping the ball extra low. He needs help in this area from Coach Salzestein.
Thanks for watching Maulana! Thiem has a traditional starting position. Both arms are slightly bent and relaxed. He has his off arm in the throat of the racquet. He uses a semi-western forehand grip on the ready position.
@@TennisEvolution I mean when when he makes contact with the ball his arms are spread out and his chest is “open” instead of his upper body being compact while swinging through the ball. Please tell me if I need to elaborate more.

Please do a video analysis on Thiem’s serve! It looks so beautiful especially in slow motion ;)

You're welcome Wally. I appreciate your comment.
On the court Tomorrow to try this out. Thank you 🐐coach !!!
Way to go! You're welcome.
Loved your advice on jumping towards the left. Always great insight Jeff that I have not noticed! Thumbs up!
Thank you Nathan! I appreciate your comment.
@@TennisEvolution why jump to the left instead of jumping forward to get more body into the ball?

Can you explain more what you mean with point3
Awesome breakdown! Hopefully with UK lockdown soon to be lifted I can get ' Sum! '
Thank you Ray!
Good explanation
Thanks!
Please make a video on how to maintain the racquet face closed on the forehand backswing
Second this. A video on this is desired. Thanks 🙏
I agree, he has a fantastic forehand. I wish I could find a coach in Northern California that would teach it that way.

Why does jumping off the ground give more power than staying on the ground and pushing forward with your legs?

Jeff, amazing video, as always. My only concern is that how long is he going to have his wrist? If a rec player would hit like this, injury is guaranteed.
Thanks! That's a good point. He prepares physically off the court to train at that intensity.
Amélie Mauresmo was hitting the ball with exactly the same kind of jump à la Mickael Jordan logo style.

I apologize I don’t understand the question
@@TennisEvolution My apologies. My question boils down to how active is his wrist in accelerating the racquet to generate that spin. Thanks!
@@DavidTsung Yes would like to know too , how much wrist activation do you believe he has
Full western grip?
I think he has a semi-western grip.
Is it semi-open or semi-closed ??
Thiem uses a semi- open stance when hitting his inside out forehand.
Just by barely breaking the ground you can obviously rotate easier without all the stress on your ankle. Ferrer use to jump on every forehand to.
Correct John. That is where the off court training pays off.
Impressive movements by Thiem, but I wonder how many club players really have the necessary physical conditions to this.

Honestly I am not sure. The hand, forearm, and shoulder rotate
Why is finish nr.1?
Because it helps you to develop a consistent swing and ensure you have the right mechanics.

Thank you. Yes, it is another important technical aspect of his forehand.
