I’ve always wondered who beat the almighty Precision ESPECIALLY with this amazing routine. I then see Rafik’s 2007 winning performance and I must say, Precision GOT ROBBED! Rafik had amazing sounds and great scratches but like Qbert, he barely left the right-side turntable and the left turntable had pre-recorded sounds that made a TON of the special effects and movement flow; I don’t think he even changed that record! No wonder DMC Online turned the comments OFF on that video. Routines like that and DJ Fly were the huge reason DMC competitions went down hill...
Rafik is and outstanding juggler, basically juggling and drum scratching in tandem.. his routines are top tier skill showcases, his battle record workout essentials was used by everyone.. indeed it was a different musical direction with le jad to electronic, dubstep adjacent, but all era have merits and the level of tight tech cuts these guys took it to blew the previous out of the water..
I hope so too. One of the only few top battle djs out there right now that has funk in his routines and uses tracks we know and can distinguish when a difficult juggle is being done. Good luck Precision
I was in DMC 2008 Victoria Australia. I would love to have seen this guy in my battle... Love the use of Premo samples at the beginning...He Definitely would of won.
Looking at this Video and seeing how small Precision was vs today...it’s like looking at Big Luther (Vandross) Vs. Small Luther. I like The Smaller Precision better than the Bigger Precision. Just Something about...!!!
If this contest was genuinely about the best DJ and not about promoting the Technics brand worldwide they wouldn't have made Bert & Mike "retire" from the competition in 1995.
