I'm using the Ripper deck and I completely ditched the popsicle shape. I have so much more fun now and feels cool. Watching Chris and Victor Garcia rep these decks is badass 🤙
i decide to start skating a 10" Saiz deck and skated one for about a year and a half, recently switched back to a 9" popsicle because my progression was kinda fallin off but best believe ill be bcak on one in the future 👏
Saaame. Im pretty new to skating tho. In like 10 years I've prob skated like 5 months in total, but since I started again I've really enjoyed it and I was having fun on my 8" popsicle. But after I found Christopher and Victor Garcia and saw them skating, I just knew old school boards are what I really want to skate. So I got myself a 9.75 Ripper geegah and I'm LOVING IT. Such a big difference compared to riding popsicles, way more than I expected. Prob never gonna stop skating now lol
Me to bro! I have a of ripper checker reissue with Indy 169s the dye ripper grip with 85a g slides red. Never had soft wheels but I am loving them at my age. I am never going back to the popsicle. I’m gonna get an old school ripper 16 with the little tiny kick nose next. Right now mine has no nose. It so fun! It made me fall in love with skating again it like I have to relearn everything. I started again about a month ago after 20 years off. Teaching my son who is 19 he doesn’t like the board with no nose. It pulls on my nostalgia strings always thought them guy look so cool ripping in pools on them. If you have y tryed one try it you won’t regret it
Absolute fire bro! So thrilled with that board and i truly hope you get a gnarly 80s inspired graphic to go on this. You deserve it. You are right up there with Andy Anderson for uniqueness and watchability (is that a word?) Lol. Keep it up bro. Wish you all the best. 👊 Oh and i want your deck and trucks 🤙 im buying several once it releases. One for the wall two for the shred.
Dude !! What kind of time frame we looking at for your pro deck release??? I love the Welinder and Winkowski decks and your pro model looks like they had a baby !! I can’t wait to skate it ! I’m currently on a Winkowski with Indy 169’s and 56mm dragon wheels and reds big balls and mob. I love transition as you can tell
My Christmas complete would be that deck, bones Swiss (I love them), my 54mm dragons (love those too) any Powell grip doesn’t matter, I usually use .25 independent risers and some of my favorites, my 169 independent stage 11 trucks!
You always have the best vibes my dude! I am currently riding an A.Anderson Flight Deck and the board technology is def insane on them, I concur. Riding Joslin 52 Bones wheels, Thunder 161s, and trying out some Bronson bearings (usually ride Bones Swiss also).
i wrapped my inverted king pin with Teflon tape (just the threads) you can get it at any hardware store. wrap it on the bolt so when you twist it in the tape is getting tighter. then it will stay put like the nylon that came out of the base plate nut. this works on any nut btw
I just setup a brandnew setup for the first time in over a decade. I've been dealing with mental health shit and it was the only refreshing thing ive done in awhile. Im poor as shit and put my plasma donation money to good use. I went all out and spent around 250. Those X-Formula wheels are sick as shit and i got those. Im skating shitty hotel asphalt and it's not bullshit theyre super good wheels and the technology has evolved. Awesome video Chris. I was skating bones reds 20 years ago because thats all i could afford and honestly still thats all I can afford but Im glad I waited and saved extra and got bone swiss 6. Just like he said in the video reds are good if thats what you can afford if you have some patience and can save up they are worth it imo. My next move is getting a shaped deck. I hope Powell takes care of you man. This is coming from a 33 year old dude that's 250 lb. I'm also using the bones hard bushings. I'm using a VX because I can find them on sale right now but I hope I can eventually save up enough money for a flight deck.
For a time, Rockin Rons Ceramics were hands down the fastest bearings I've ever ridden. Ron's bearing are now gone, so the closest I know would be the Powell Swiss bearings Chris mentions in the first part of the video.
My dream, old Tom Knox everslick, ace trucks, dragon wheels. My favorite deck I ever had (I am old.). I like newer school wheels and trucks with old school shapes, it’s why I watch your channel.
I just got bck into skating since 1990. I just build my first deck in like 30+ years ,im almost 48. I been watching yor videos the past month, you remind me of me with the same style of clothing and jewelry you wear and i still wear all that spikes and rings, lol. Im big into bmx bikes too but freestyle ones,i have 4 1987 restores grail bike son my channel. SO the deck i just built is the following : Deck: Per Welinder NORDIC SKULL oldshool deck shape reissue in Blue Grip tape: Powell Peralta Ripper custom cut Trucks 159 Slayer Indys in Silver Wheels: White Dragon Formulas 58mm Bearings: Bones Super Reds Psycho 1/2 red risers RatBones Red Rails with Silver oldschool Sex bolts NOS Red Powell Peralta 8icnh Tailbone with rat nuts Bones white Bushings, swapping between mediums and hards I just got a mike mcgill helmet and pads to go skate at a park i saw near by,i cant wait. Andy Anderson deck (the first shaped one) Tensor Mag light trucks Bronson G3 bearings Formula four conical spitfires Krux hardware Dgk grip (the blossom)
I'm skating a new series 13 Lance Mountain with the incredible Dragon wheels 35 years since; my first 1987 XT Bonite Lance with Phoenix gullwings T bones. Mostly built skated our own plywood ramps in mid 80s
Rode Powell decks back in the mid 80's. Hawk Whale Tail and Hosoi Hammerhead were both were a blast. My ideal setup now would be the new Santa Cruz x Thrasher Salba Oops Deck, Flat Black Indy Stage 11 @ 9" with 1/8" riser, and Spitfire Chargers 80HD @ 56mm rolling on Bones Swiss.
Nothing beats Bones Swiss bearings, I had the Swiss Ceramics back in my early 20's as could finally afford them. Amazing but now the price is insane on them tbh, think close to $200
9" Anti Hero Classic Eagle. 9" Slappy ST1 trucks. Dragon Formula 56mm wheels, Jessup Grip, and of course REDS because I've skated them for over 20 years with 0 issues.
My latest complete? A 1990 Lance Mountain Doughboy, 4 bolt Rib Bones with Rat Nuts, Tracker Ultralights trucks, Bones Big Balls bearings, Original black G Bones, Jessup Grip, Bones Hardcore bushings.
I just got a Steve cab sage green with 169s on it. Order a Billy Guerra mask deck thought purple stain. Suppose to come tomorrow I can’t wait to skate it Saturday. The nikky I think is gonna be my main board. I have 5 decks and 3 are complete but the nikky is singing to me. I only skate old school decks now I can’t ride popsicle anymore. The nikky seems like a mix between old school and new school has a little nose. My setup for it is gonna be Indy 169s standard old school holes with bones super reds, 56mm nanocubic 93a wheels red wiring. White Powell rails. 1/8 red Indy risers. I usually put some cool powel grip on it. But I’m gonna go mob with the middle cut out to show the powel mask graphic since I love it. I am so pumped for this board. I been going nuts with buying boards lately but I think this is it for awhile. Spending way too much money. Saturday can’t come soon enough can’t wait to have that bad boy under my feet and shred. Skating take me to my heaven man! Your awesome Chris you inspired me to try the old school and it lit a fire in my heart for skating again. Keep shredding boys with everyone a great weekend !
Ur 'conclusion' was honest and genuine, which is what PPL shud look for when researching products to get. I skate REDS bearings and have been on 'the dragon formula' since way back, but I'm giving Mini Logo trucks a go currently and Bones rails (which I'm in the process of collecting materials to start making my own rails by recycling plastic, maybe I'll send U a pair via SkayeOne's mailing address 😃) and Flight Decks are the Future, as U said... OH! 🤦♂️ Mini Logo griptape as well (even though i like MOB) that i got for free with the deck.
I've always had issues with inverted kingpins(Indys). Same thing you described. It broke and i couldn't tighten it. Never going back. As an east coast rider, I also love Bones X-Formulas. They handle the crust well and are really fast on rough surfaces. Loved the vid!
I've been using IKPs for decades and never had that issue. I ride loose trucks and always check the kingping nut nylon is grabbing the kingpin. It could be due to the hexagonal shape on the "head" of the kingpin. I also play with the bushings shortening them if needed, have hard top ones to avoid wheelbite while having a deep turning radius.
My perfect board would be an OG Hawk Street deck (please get them to reissue it), Indy 159s, Dragon Formula Wheels, Swiss bearings. OG Rib Bones (with the OG sex bolts attaching them), I like Mob Grip. Bones hardware. With hard truck bushings. But I'm old school and started skating in 1988
Damn! My inverted slappy trucks did the same thing! I was sliding a flat rail & my front truck came off! I pout it back together & bodied on a 1/4 when it came off again! I cut my bushings down a bit & use loctite now. No issue since
I set up a full complete a few weeks ago. darkroom, thunder and some enjoi wheels i love the colour of (blue). I went up from 7.75 (90s skater lol) to an 8. Loving it, skating every day, thanks for the vid.
Right now I'm riding the shaped Frankie Hill bulldog deck. Indy 159 titanium's with the Indy hard bushings. Bronson raw bearings, bones x formula 97a 54 mm wheels, indy 7/8 allen hardware and jessup grip
Welinder street, dark red graphic Trucks: idk, I'm riding minologo rn but down to try slappys cause everyone seems to dig 'em a lot. Wheels: AA mini cubic, dragons, or X Bearings: Bronson G2, big balls or, ceramics.
Powell Peralta Pro Andy Anderson Baby Heron (Vajra) FLIGHT, Indy forged hollows 149's, Nano Cubics 52mm, Bones Swiss, Mob grip, Indy hardware. My last 3 boards ha been FLIGHT decks so this is my forth FLIGHT deck they are amazing. Been riding Powell Peralta since 1979. Good luck with your pro model! BTW I also have the Metallica OG 10 inch black board love that one too, I use it as a cruiser with 169s Indy and 54mm Dragons 93A , Bones swiss, Mob, Indy hardware.
I'm using the new andy anderson deck with his wheels, with the bones ceramic bearings, as hardware i use independ, and trucks are thunder holow lights, griptape from powell, risers and rails from PIG. My 7 year old son use a 7.5 inch mini deck from powell griptape also powell, with orbs wheels Pig prime bearings and thunder hardware. his trucks are from Titus. ( At christmas his going to get the Caballero Chinese Dragon Birch Mini deck.) and i prob going to give him my bones formula x wheels. My 4year old daughter use a 7 inch mini deck of powell, with pink mob griptape, and some enuff wheels, and thunder trucks. bearings are the redz. And I cant wait to see your deck launching and on what kind of graphic its going to be.
My last Christmas set up was back in the 90's Powell Frankie Hill Bull Dog ,bones wheels, powell rib bones rails, Swiss berings ,and I'm pretty sure I used G&S trucks those would grind on anything 😅 black grip tape off the roll at the skate shop.
Just set up a new xmas complete too! Got the 9 inch powell peralta skull and sword popsicle deck with some 9 inch slappy trucks and the 60mm dragon rat bones. So epic! Can't believe how light the setup considering how bog everything is. Powell is the best! Also love the slappy trucks
I always alternated from reds and speed demons bearings when I was a kid, but now I’m a loyal bones Big Balls girl 👀! They’re very smooth and quiet , and I’ve never broken one 👀 which does happen with element and speed demon bearings 👀…
From years back seeing you rip up the Braille house i have been hooked on skating reissue decks. Im skating a Mike V PP reissue now and it really allowed me to connect with they old heads who still skate. I love skateboarding.
If i was putting together a new setup, $ no problem. A flight deck in 8 or 8.25, indy hollow forged or forged TI, bones swiss(all i ride) rode a set for @10yrs still all rolling. Either dragon or x formula wheels, haven’t tried them and my buddy swears by the dragons. Mob grip always and shorty’s, diamond or shake junt bolts. Oh and bones bushings in the trucks. Med or hard
Andy Anderson 9+" Heron1 (The Dick Canoe), Thunder Hollow Forged Silver 8.75s, Bones V5 Sidecut X-Formula 60mm Hawk Wheels, 1/4" Pig Risers, Those rails you're using in this video (tell them to make them in clear, they'll see like crazy!), Ace Hollow Gripper Bolts, Thunder Blue Rebuild 95Du Skateboard Kingpin Hardware Kit, Swiss 6 Bearings, and Mob Grip. Also, tell them to Make Swiss 6 in Ceramics!
That board is cool shape.. reminds me a Phillips BBC deck mixed with McGill and hawk deck.. the shape. But they could use you as a reboot movie of gleaming the cube. 🤣🤣🤣🤣... but it's cool what you do and glad your doing skateboarding for the fun of it.. if you was doing it for a business it just probably drained you.. but keep up what your doing.. glad shape decks are coming back from the dead.. I'm 49 oldfart I had many different boards in my past. I wish powell Peralta would reissue the late 80s early 90s wheels .. like mini rat bones 57mm and cross ☠️ bones 64mm and rat bones.. not those early 80s fat wheels.. but narrow late 80s and early 90s wheels .. I have mixed skateboard collection I got maybe over 100 different boards.. but my collection going to be for my little kids.. but I also got a board Tony hawk mailed me his Andrew Reynolds deck he rode at ymca in Encino cali.. we was like pen pals back then before all this internet.. I live in Maine.. and I'm in poor health but I manage to coast and if I can find a skateboard park near me I'd probably keep on trying to ride more. But yeah .. I collected and kept them threw 3 divorces my collection. I just never met Tony hawk in person. But I met andy mac and Paul zitzer and buster halterman at mbna cornboil in Belfast maine... but Tony hawk mailed me his Andrew Reynolds deck he rode in the middle 90s.. I wish tracker truck company reissue more their trucks.. like aggro... and wish more truck companies would reissue more their trucks also for the reissue decks.. I loved it that gullwing did reissue their trucks pro truck and tracker reissue their six tracks.. but they should keep making them. I'm glad people are riding the shape decks again..
Powell has always been my fav! Got my first deck like 4 years ago, but I also had my dad's skull and sword wide deck for a while. Even had those weird little-plastic tail bumper thingys. That board survived evvvverryyyy thing! Pretty sure I left it in the rain (when I was little) for like a week before I knew how awesome that thing really was. 4 years ago I cleaned out the rusty parts and it skated like a day one deck! It still skates fine today too, just looking for good truckls for it rn. But yeah, hope you always stick with Powell, Chris! You and that brand just go so good together! I know anytime I try skating decks "Powell-adjacent" it just doesn't feel the same haha.
I looove the look of that shape definitely what I would take off your setup. Ive ridden 2 flight decks and am riding a heroin eggy right now. I miss the flightssss! keep it up!
Got my Christmas complete last month 😂 Ended up using my old bearings and wheels but what I have is Ace af1 hollow 80s Heroin wide boy Mini logo bearings Mini logo a cut wheels 53mm Combo of DKL grip on the nose and tail and then jessup in the middle
Great skating Chris, definitely an inspiration! I don't have a complete yet, but I'm looking at the skull and sword popsicle deck or maybe one of the rippers. I'm still a beginner so all the different shapes are a little beyond me right now.
GREAT TO SEE YOUR BOARD SET UP. BONE SWISS ARE WORTH THE MONEY FOR SURE. REDS ARE DECENT. FLIGHT DECKS ARE THE BEST. I HAVE NOT SEEN THAT GRIP B4, BUT LOOKS COOL CHRIS. DECK RAILS ARE OKAY, BUT I USED TO ALWAYS CRUSH MINE, THEN BOARD SLIDING WOULD BE LOPPY. HOW YOUR DECK RAILS LAST IS A MYSTERY. YOUR TRUCKS ARE NICE. WHEELS ARE SIZE I CHOOSE TO RIDE, BUT NOT CURRENTLY. BUT FOR YOU YOUR SETUP IS PERFECT.

I love watching Chris set up boards. It’s like a sort of therapy for me.
My perfect complete:

Spitfire formula 4 54 mm classics

That boards gonna be an absolute W When it comes out. I’m keeping my eyes open on Powell’s website 24/7
But no one talks about it no where. Does anyone have any forecast or rumors?
I agree. I'm buying one the second it drops?
@@caveirarj Powell keeping it a good secret but so is Chris so I’m not sure.

Such a sick video. Thanks for your down to earth approach...for keeping it real. Cheers 👊🏼
Those Slappy® trucks are awesome. All the talk about inverted kingpins made me think of ol Grindking from back in my childhood years..

That shape has a lot of ray underhill to it😁 that ain’t a bad thing😃
Powell Peralta Pro Andy Anderson Baby Heron (Vajra) FLIGHT, Indy forged hollows 149's, Nano Cubics 52mm, Bones Swiss, Mob grip, Indy hardware. My last 3 boards ha been FLIGHT decks so this is my forth FLIGHT deck they are amazing. Been riding Powell Peralta since 1979. Good luck with your pro model! BTW I also have the Metallica OG 10 inch black board love that one too, I use it as a cruiser with 169s Indy and 54mm Dragons 93A , Bones swiss, Mob, Indy hardware.
i hope this deck will come to the market for everyone soon its so awesome
0:00 👏
I would like that deck to hit the local shops already.
1990 doughboy one in black with indys and some black Powell wheels
DBC..Daily Blessings Coming! .. Thank You ALL for Skateboarding and Everything Everyday!!
The bear tooth shirt tho🤘🏻🔥
Ray underhill shape !!
📿
From years back seeing you rip up the Braille house i have been hooked on skating reissue decks. Im skating a Mike V PP reissue now and it really allowed me to connect with they old heads who still skate. I love skateboarding.
Also i am beyond stoked (and im sure we all are) to bolt up some trucks to your pro model!
Thinking about buy Steve Saiz deck...probably gonna wait for CH deck....
Thatt shape reminds me of Small Room skateboards from the 90's.
Awesome and inspiring👌💪🔥💯,
I'm on a Powell Peralta Frankie Hill Bulldog deck, dragon wheels 55mm, Bones Reds bearings, Thunder trucks.
I already rock w Slappy trucks (the best). I'm all Spitfire, but would like to try those wheels.
I'm glad people are riding the shape decks again..
the BT shirt ❤
Very cool 😎
Hope to have one of these decks S O O N!
Your experimental board, Thunder Hollow 161's, Bones 6 balls, Bones Ribs rails, 54mm 97a Nano Cubics, Bones 7/8" hardware
I looove the look of that shape definitely what I would take off your setup. Ive ridden 2 flight decks and am riding a heroin eggy right now. I miss the flightssss! keep it up!
Can’t wait till that pro model comes out
12:12 yup
Now I need those trucks. Insane clearance. Kingpins need Locktite on them.
You and couple new skaters are what are getting me into skating, I love the board style so much. Your board is so sick everytime.
Got my Christmas complete last month 😂
Ended up using my old bearings and wheels but what I have is
Ace af1 hollow 80s
Heroin wide boy
Mini logo bearings
Mini logo a cut wheels 53mm
Combo of DKL grip on the nose and tail and then jessup in the middle
