Yep, I keep on seeing people blaming graffiti artists as a whole for this behavior when the biggest rule about being a graffiti artist is to not ruin others work for your own. Not to mention that the plots that most graffiti artists do their art on are obtained appropriately. People keep confusing graffiti artists with vandals and it's annoying.

Even with security system, cameras recording 24/7, metal gates across windows I still felt it was just a matter of time. Every coin shop owner I know has been robbed at least once. Best was when Mike Green of Phoenix Coin Shop had an attempted armed robbery. Got to see video even the cops and news didn't. Couple followed Mike into shop at opening and the man drew a handgun and pointed it at him. Mike then drew his Glock 9mm and shot the guy in the hip. His faithful sidekick tried to flee but door was shut. Mike kicked the assailants gun away then kicked him in the face. Held them both st gunpoint till PD arrived. They both got time. I ran my neighborhood and nobody even thought about trying. Slept on the couch and watched Seinfeld at night. Cooked on a grill outback. Would Wali right through groups of homeless shooting up and they all addressed me by sir. Dogs smell fear. They become full of fear when they know you have none.

I've been an illustrator for almost 2 decades, I've done full wall murals for schools and hospitals. Seeing the damage made me sick to my stomach. Not only does it look like a reflection of this man's distorted psyche, it looks pure evil and demonic. The chaotic scribbles and lines, the void creature of a face with blood on the chest. I don't even have to explain how much work, time and the cost of materials goes into making them. You have to put all of your stamina, your attention, mind and soul into these pieces. My body is worn out and sore afterwards and sometimes I have to rest for a long time(a few days to 2 weeks). This guy needs serious help, in more ways than one.
The owner definitely made some dedicated individuals his enemies somehow. If people are intentionally smashing windows like that and running without it being an attempt at theft.

I've been an illustrator for almost 2 decades, I've done full wall murals for schools and hospitals. Seeing the damage made me sick to my stomach. Not only does it look like a reflection of this man's distorted psyche, it looks pure evil and demonic. The chaotic scribbles and lines, the void creature of a face with blood on the chest. I don't even have to explain how much work, time and the cost of materials goes into making them. You have to put all of your stamina, your attention, mind and soul into these pieces. My body is worn out and sore afterwards and sometimes I have to rest for a long time(a few days to 2 weeks). This guy needs serious help, in more ways than one.

THOUSANDS of monuments to men greater than you and I have been vandalized and/or toppled and destroyed NATIONWIDE, most of which were caught on camera, and perpetrators identifiable, but none arrested. Where was the outrage when Lee circle in New Orleans was vandalized? Whether or not we agree with the subject of a mural or monument does not matter. Ownership is what matters. You do not get to destroy another persons property because you don’t like or agree with the property, EVEN if it’s in public view. It’s a criminal offense, and until ALL of the vandals who have been identified through video or photos destroying these monuments are held accountable for their actions, THIS vandal who destroyed this mural of John Lennon cannot be held accountable for his actions. Period.

Kinda sad the only vandalized historical murals making the news are of pop culture figures. I love The Beatles, but there are so many beautiful and historical murals that have been vandalized in my neighborhood that will never see the light of day again, they were landmarks of the neighborhood and have been left tagged and graffitied for years.
