    • @TonyP9279
      @TonyP9279 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      She is a lot more like 7 of 9. Data is able to speculate somewhat and is interested in learning about human emotion, T'Pol just thinks emotions (and speculations) are irrelevant.

    • @jkta97
      @jkta97 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Data (pre-emotion chip) is capable of emotions, albeit in a subtle and not so overt manner. He was curious, had a sense of humor, expressed concern, had a sense of right and wrong, and was loyal to his friends. None of these conditions are possible without basic emotions. In a way, he reminds me of a character like Dexter Morgan, capable of feeling rudimentary emotions but still feeling disconnected from the rest of humanity (minus the serial killing, of course).

    I will never understand why this series of Star Trek was cancelled.
    It was by far the most relatable of all the series, as the crew only lived a century or so from today. The actors did a fantastic job portraying the characters and most of the episodes told truly fantastic stories.
    Not to mention the seasonal overarching stories (initial exploration, the Xindi, the Temporal Cold War etc.) were truly captivating.
    I'd like to go back in time and convince whoever decided to kill this show off, not to.
    Man do I miss when I watched Star Trek episodes just to see what the characters were up to in day-to-day life.
    You can't say that about Discovery. It is all about the overarching story, never about regular life things.

    • @mitchellmelkin4078

      Joy L, The reason is plain enough and has been articulated numerous times. It lies in the machinations of one person, whose loathing for the franchise, prompted him to seize upon the erroneous, allegedly poor ratings of Enterprise, to administer the coup de grace, during Season 4. I can't claim to know if he was truly aware of how expanded viewership metrics, admittedly nascent, at that time, reflected that the show had a much wider audience, than what the old school numbers suggested.
      What's far worse, however, is his callous and cynical decision to revive televised ST, only to save his flailing streaming service. To emphasize his genuine hatred for what the IP's ethos genuinely represented, he entrusted that endeavour to a hack, who irrefutably shared that same disdain, which has spawned the execrable efforts of the past 5 years, whose only connection is in flaunting the same name that 40 years had so assiduously (if unevenly) burnished, while slavishly degrading that tradition.
      I hope this might serve to address your question.

    For those who say the Vulcans made them emotional, corrupt and different from the previous series did not understand that this is a Prequel when the Vulcan society is in a historical period of revolution. Only in this series are the teachings of Surak found and distributed to the population. Also the Vulcans here have not yet accepted their telepathic side and it shows how they are manipulated by the Romulans.
    They are not the Vulcans of the federation because the Federation does not yet exist, much less its ideals, everything is yet to be built. Fantastic work really a shame it was canceled it deserved at least 3 more seasons.

    I’m a 3rd Generation Star Trek fan. The new Star Trek shows suck ! Pikes Enterprise looks like a Vagus Strip Bar ! What happened from Kirk’s ship and Pike’s ? Archer’s ship looks right, hence why it was such a great show.

      @@markvanoosterhout5074 Depends on your source. My Season 1 Boxed set lists it as Episode 14, as does Netflix, because in both cases, they list the pilot, double-episode "Broken Bow" as Episode 1 - Parts 1 and 2. Memory Alpha shows it as 15 as does Wikipedia and IMDB. TVDB list it as both, calls it 15 in "Aired Order" but 14 in "DVD Order" (which matches up with what it says on my boxed set..

    That pothole is way out of proportion to the size of the ship .. Unless the ship is a T.A.R.D.I.S. .. They never get the scale right in these programs and movies ..
